She's the vampire that could destroy a nation.
At least, that's what Pinkerton detective Finn Dunne thinks of Tara Fox. Capturing her aboard a ship sneaking its way northward, he's convinced she's been sent to take out President Lincoln. While she's certainly the most attractive assassin he's ever faced, that won't keep him from his duty.
Tara has always been caught betwee

I thought this was a great twist on a Civil War romance. Not real crazy about vampire novels, but since is set in the Civil War time period and knowing Heather Graham's writing, I thought I would get it a chance. Glad I did as it had me continuously coming back. I was disappoint when the story ended. Another interesting book by Ms. Graham!!
Paranormal Romance
The heroine, a born vampire half breed, has been plagued recently with visions and dreams of the president Abe Lincoln being in mortal danger...Ok. Weird But Ok. When she boards the boat to take her to Washington, the Union soldiers sink the boat in a battle and she and her best friend are marooned on a island. The hero, a detective in the presidents employ, is on the lead to an assassin who was on the Confederate boat that sunk. When his boat sinks as well, he finds himself stranded on the isla ...more

Heather Graham is an expert in historical romance. Her descriptions make the reader feel like s/he is really there. Having grown up in the Gettysburg area and with a father who was a local historian, I know something about this era and Heather doesn't disappoint. Her characters are realistic and well drawn out with problems and issues that make them "human" - even when they aren't. If I had any issues with the characters, it was that Finn seemed to give in too easily to Tara sometimes, but then, ...more

Heather Graham has an incredible knack for historical descriptions, making the reader an extension of the scene, with each word creating a deeper sense of authenticity. I can't imagine the amount of research that goes into each book, the same can be said for her Krewe of Hunters series which is also fabulous. I am able to learn about these factual events through her fictional world because the details are plentiful and thorough. It's like a side adventure on a video game: I read about some battl ...more

Bride of the Night by Heather Graham ISBN 978-0373776153

The book “Bride of Night” is a paranormal romantic suspense novel set during the Civil War in Florida. The Pinkerton Agent, Finn Dunne, has a duty of protecting President Lincoln and his duties take him from the President’s side to investigate a possible assassination attempt and into the very close proximity of the only possible threat, Miss Tara Fox, to the President that ever got away from him. This book is an enthralling read that holds

This was the third book in a series, and I didn’t know that before I picked this up, but from what I can tell these are all pretty much stand alone. I’ve heard good things about Heather Graham, but I guess I shouldn’t have started with this book, because now my vision is skewed to the not so favorable position. The writing was bad, it was very descriptive, so descriptive you know everything that’s coming. More importantly it was boring and really not all that interesting. Yes, it’s ‘cool’ that w ...more

Bride of the Night is a paranormal romance set during The Civil War.

Our main characters Tara and Finn are both half-blood vampires (human mother, vampire father). Tara had never met anyone like her before, she suspected there were more of her kind but had never encountered one until the day she meets Finn.
Finn is a Pinkerton detective in charge of President Lincoln’s security, he knows others like him that also work for the president, but Tara is different, she doesn’t know much about
Bride of the Night is a paranormal romance at its heart. Heather Graham has woven historical events, people and places from the Civil War into this tale. Graham is so skilled at using just enough references to historical events that it gives an authenticity to the tale. Protagonist Finn is determined to eliminate all threats to his beloved President, Abraham Lincoln. Tara wants to protect the president as well, but Finn isn't sure if she is a threat. When dark creatures attack, they battle to sa ...more

I'll give Ms. Graham this, she's very well written and she does her research!

After that, I have nothing good to say.

Tara's character was across the board for a female lead, and worse yet not fitting to the times. The rest of the characters were kind of flat for me.

After this The book is very very very repetitive. Every other night there's a vampire mob attack. and Tara would have pretty much the same dream.

I really felt this book would have just been better written as a zombie story, because the

Enjoyed this book about Pinkerton agent Finn Dunne who is out to find a traitor that wants to kill Pres. Lincoln. He believes that Tata Fox is that person until he arrests her and in bringing her back to Washington, DC finds that she is on his side to protect the President and also that she is half human and half vampire just as he is.

She has to prove to Finn that all she wants is to see the president safe

I usually love Heather Graham books, but this one was hard for me to finish. I could not seem to get into either the story line or the characters themselves.

The story is about a female vampire, living in the South during the Civil War who wanted to protect President Lincoln and a member of his security team who is trying to track down threats to President Lincoln. Ms. Graham did a good job with her descriptions of locations and her characters, but this story is one that just didn't "speak" to m

Taking a diversion from her usual mysteries involving ghosts, Heather Graham sets this historical novel back in the civil war and with vampires instead of ghosts. This a very interesting tale and left me wanting I am hoping that this is part of series much like her Krew of Hunters books. I highly recommend this book.

Ok, so I may be the first man to review this on Goodreads!
For the most part I perfer the vampires of Stoker, King, and F Paul Wilson. I am NOT a Twilight fan.
That said, I did enjoy this book. It's set in the Civil War, and seems well researched. There is enough action, and 'monster vampires' to keep me happy.

I have to say That Heather Graham is one of my favorite authors to date. The Bride of Night and its following sequels stir up thoughts of vampires, werewolfs intermixing with the backdrop of the civil war and the wild west. I fell in love with the characters and in each looking to see Cody Fox and his friends.

Heather Graham mixes Civil War history and vampires! What a great combination!!! Tara Fox must travel to Washington D.C. to protest President Lincoln ... enough said! Be sure to read the book yourself to get the rest of the story!
At first when I saw that it was about the Civil War I was afraid I was going to hate it. I am not a big fan of war stories and I wanted to read about vampires not war, but it turned out much better than I had anticipated. Not one of my favorites, but definitely worth the read.

I wasn't sure if I would like this book, but it was pretty interesting -- definitely a different premise for Heather Graham!

Harlequin calls this historical romance & so it is (set during the American Civil War), but it's also a paranormal romance (vampires).

Another historical ficition from Heather Graham - this time she uses the last months of America's Civil War as the setting for her heroine, Tara Fox, to undermine the deadly scourage that is seeking to take over her home city of Key West, Florida.
Surprisingly good read. I haven't read this author's books before and really enjoyed the historical aspect with the paranormal twist! A fast read, though I think 3rd or 4th in a series? Will have to check out the previous books

I quit reading before I got to chapter 2. I just couldn't get into it. The civil war bores me, maybe because I'm a damn Yankee, who knows. I just couldn't care less about what was happening on in this book.

First off, I LOVE Heather Graham books. She is in my top to read list. But, that said, this was not
my favorite book of hers. The first half really dragged. The last half picked up and it ended great.

I love Heather Graham, but I found this book difficult at times to finishing reading because of the history lesson. I liked the characters but thought that the relationship between Tara and Finn was lacking.

I like the way Heather sets the story in an era that I can relate with. The Civil War was a hard but historic time, another good read, it got me out of the 21st century.

Made myself finish this....way too much like a history lesson. I like history but this book just repeats the same things numerous times. Not enough focus on the characters.
