I cannot remember the last time I gave a book five stars. I also cant remember the last time I was looking for excuses to go to bed early so I could get a few extra minutes with a book. My reading time is limited, jealously divided between writing and audiobooks while I travel.
This book broke the rules.
I cannot believe it only has three reviews on goodreads. I am confused as to why the publishers dont seem to list it on their website any more. I am also not going to bore you by repeating what ot...more

Frankie Finnegan is an overweight bullied schoolboy, whose twin sister died in a car accident and whose parents split up and don't really have time for him. To alleviate reality, Frankie imagines a perfect world where he is friends with everyone and where his sister didn't die. It's a place called Faraway, but in truth it's nearer than he thinks.

This could have been an overly moralistic or schmaltzy piece of fiction, but Brooke grounds his fantasy in reality and makes the story pertinent to each...more
