Marjorie Fordham is just itching to sign up the hottest author in the world into her quaint little publishing house. Well, she’s also itching for other things, to be honest. So what if she finds the author attractive? And so what if he makes an offer she cannot refuse? So what if she accepts? And so what if David J. Seton is everything she has ever wanted in a man? He is a...more

No...no...and no. This book had no redeeming qualities. This was slated as a BDSM love story but it was not. This was one of those stories that was not about love or pleasure but about pain, humiliation, cruelty, and manipulation. IMHO, the 'hero' was physically and mentally abusive and the 'heroine' was desperate and unjustifiably trusting. The hero told the heroine that he loved her but he treated her no better than a show pony for most of the book.

The pièce de résistance was overuse of whore...more

This book is a kind of classic romance novel in which the author has interspersed a few scenes of exhibitionism and one of spanking. A small plot wrap the whole story.
This story is actually much better than Fifty Shades of Grey. I do not understand why FSoG has sold so well when it is so poorly written and this book here is sold only $ 0.99.
Anyway, if you love exhibitionism and romance, you will certainly find your account in The Dom of my Dreams.

I’m not completely positive, but I think I saw The Dom of My Dreams on another blog before I got it on Amazon. I may have just come across it when I was first going through my “HOLY CRAP I LOVE BDSM ROMANCE” phase. Either way, I thought it sounded intriguing. I wish it had lived up to my expectations.

The story is told by Margerie, an editor at a small publishing house. She is approached by David Seton, a best-selling author thinking of signing with her house. What he wants in return is quite uno...more

I wasn't impressed with this one. Marjorie (didn't love her name either which i find makes it harder to relate) was super annoying. She was falling all over herself to be with Seton in the beginning then at the end being super stubborn about getting back together with him. Speaking of Seton - he is the first male lead in a book i have seriously disliked in a long time. I just cannot get into a guy who gets off on humiliating someone he supposedly cares for (or at least relatively likes). It was...more

You will notice there are no stars associated with this review. That's because, um, no. No. NO NO NO NO NO NO. NOPE. NOPE. NOPE. NOPE.

Seriously, people got up in arms about Fifty Shades when THIS is out there, representing BDSM? This is not BDSM. There is no trust here. He humiliates her, ignores her when she safe words -- let me repeat, HE IGNORES HER SAFE WORD -- calls her a whore without her permission to be degraded, traps her with another man and refuses to let her leave. TRAPS HER. There a...more

I'M THE ONE WHO'S WHIPPED!!!!

Totally hated this one for the first 50%... and not because of the storyline/characters... it was the way David treated Marjorie... iI totally wanted to throw my Kindle across the room at times... then it started to win me over when we found out why he was such a douche to her... strange tactics, but I guess it worked!!!

I would totally kick my husband's a$$ if he ever called me a whore or tried to get me to dress and act like one... damn that girl had a lot of courag...more

As far as I can tell its an either leave it or love it book.Yes the book starts off as the Hero (Seton) being all domineering and calling her names ect. But then there are always those small moments where it seems forced and the author writes it too, she gives you ton of clues from the beginning about his wishy washy nature of being totally caring and domineering at the same time but then cold and elusive later on in the night. The fact that I think some readers just didn't clue into from the be...more

I don't know if I can adequately describe how much I loved this book. I. Loved. This. Book. I couldn't put my Kindle down all day because I HAD to finish it. Nothing got done around my house until I found out what would happen with Marjorie and Seton.

A lot of women will relate to Marjorie. I knew immediately she was afraid of being hurt, but most of all committing. I loved how she struggled to stand up to David Seton, while dealing with her arousal. I did not dislike Seton as it was clear he had...more

This book spoke to everything I've fantasized about. Sorry, TMI. But that's part of why I loved it so much. I could relate to Marjorie. I knew immediately she was afraid of being hurt, of committing. I loved how she struggled to stand up to David Se...more

The first half of this book made me cringe. It was pretty bad between Marjorie's constant whiney self-centered ways and Seton's complete lack of compassion for Marjorie. I can look past the name calling and a bit of humiliation but it got to the point of how Seton was treating her that I was like "Really? You would honestly put up with this crap?" Because I would have walked away almost instantly.

Then half way through the book things change. Something shifts in Seton and Marjorie gets past most...more

Really enjoyed this book. It was more of a romantic erotica book with themes of BDSM, yet it was different than the usual overcoming conflict to reach HEA. The Dom of My Dreams: A BDSM Novel ( which I believe is the worst thing about the book~the title) had some plot twists and turns that I had not expected...and for a hardcore reader like me, that is hard to do. There was a lot of resistance from the main female character (Marjorie), which usually is a bothersome trait for me if it continues th...more

Ok let me just start by saying I'm curious as to why some of the people below who left reviews even read this book if they don't like darker reads. One person said the safe word was ignored, which it wasn't, and I didn't see anything abnormal about the Dom/sub relationship in this story. I suppose if your only BDSM book read is 50 shades you might be shocked when reading other novels and expecting it to be as tame. If you think this book is "offemsive" or "too much" go read "Captive in the dark"...more

Ugh. After reading "Fifty Shades of Grey," I was in the mood for more smut. This one had good reviews and the price was right: 99 cents. All I can say is, I got what I paid for. This was absolute and utter crap. I think I read one chapter (up through the first sexual encounter); I have since returned it.

I simply could not suspend my disbelief enough to get lost in the story. I mean, really. You're having coffee with a guy you've never met. He propsitions you. You're insulted, so you get up to le...more

Alright so where to begin... At the beginning I wasn't sure what to think of either of the main characters. I found Marjorie to be a cold stuck up bitch and David ugh don't even get me started. I wanted to smack the shit out of him more than once.

However as the story progressed I realized that both of the impressions that I had about them were wrong. They were both just troubled people that had a bad past.

I'm not going to say that I liked how David treated her and especially some of the things...more

A great, entertaining, erotic, emotional and fun read for those who want to try and read something different, have an open mind or enjoy reading about a BDSM way of life. It was difficult for me to put the book down afraid I may miss what's next (ridiculous I know). But M.F. Sinclair has a lot of talent and her skills have you engrossed from beginning to end!

I started off really disliking David. He came off to me as a cruel, cold sadist that cared of no one but himself. But as the book goes on a...more

wait a minute. There is jewelry out there no one told me about? A nipple chain. Must have now. I can not believe I didn't know about this.

besides the nipple chain, this book had other elements I really like in a book
1)the lead never loses his alpha, very few books have this
2) a relationship based plot with some interesting twists, no paranormal or suspense
3) long enough for good character development
4) I liked the way Marge absorbed the revelations in the book, lots of time to ponder what just h...more

This story is about two damaged souls coming together and healing together. It was billed as BDSM, but it is very light. It's more romantic and erotic (in some places). There are some questionable "scenes" in the story, but I think this shows the growth of the relationship and the hardships of keeping a relationship. Marjorie and David are two very messed up people IMO but they do come to learn love and trust, albeit the long way around. The story drags on for an extremely long time with Marjori...more

After reading some very positive reviews from other Goodreads members, I am very sorry to say that I didn't like this at all. I have to confess that I got to the point where I just wanted it to be over, so I skimmed the last 40% to see what happened in the end.

I really tried, but I a couldn't warm to either the Hero or Heroine and the games they played with each other left me wondering how a relationship could be salvaged from this mess. For me, Marjorie's behaviour was all over the place. She w...more

Marjorie is a book editor for a small boutique publishing house in Northampton. Her life made up of one night stands and meaningless flings with no commitment most of her life. She spends her nights alone watching movies and eating junk food. That was until her boss asks her to court a bestselling author David J Seaton who is looking for a publishing deal for his new book. David offers her a proposal to allow him to court her in return for her submission to him. This book had heat, anger, lust,...more

Very interesting concept for a book. I wish we had been given more background information around the main female character, but I suppose we had enough for the story. I just wish we had more insight to her character. As for the character who played the Dom, I simultaneously loved him and hated him. There were some parts where I couldn't understand how he was able to do the things that he did to her and with her. I would think that would ruin any future they had. But all in all, I liked the book....more

This book is about a famous author David Seton and a book editor Marjorie. David propositions Marjorie and in return for her undivided attention and submission, he will consider letting the publishing company she works for release his next book.
I had a lot of issues with this book simply because I didn't like the way David spoke to Marjorie. I felt like he tried to make her feel degraded, and tried to humiliate her most of the time. However, there were also some parts of the book where you get a...more

Ok...this book was not as advertised. I really enjoyed the storyline. But the characters were a bit too hard to believe. This is also not a BDSM novel...at worst it's like kinky sex with abusive tendencies. Nonetheless it is a decent romance novel but ends a bit too conveniently at the end....I would read more from this author if given the chance...there is definitely talent there,..but if youre looking for hard core descriptive sex this book is not for you,...if you are looking for a strong wom...more

I am conflicted about this book. Although it picked up for me about 60 percent through, I never connected with the 2 main characters until the last chapters of the book. Looking back after that, it was not a bad book, but not a favorite.

I think mostly, it was that I had a hard time with the way Marjorie is treated throughout the book by David (and the way she allowed it). Although it is "explained" later on, it was hard to read scenes that were supposed to be in the context of the D/s relationsh...more

WOW! That was really hard to read. Not because it was erotic/BDSM, but because it had some very uncomfortable moments. Not just uncomfortable but mean, and heartless. I honestly couldn't put the book down though, I had a hard time stopping, I had to know what happened next and how this darn thing would end.

It not really all the much of a BDSM novel, its more of a sex, sex and more sex, and D/s novel. But the story line is the hook and will reel you in.

In the end I really really enjoyed the book,...more

I was a little unsure of this book when I first started reading it. I thought it was all about humiliation and degradation, which I am definitely NOT into. It was so much more than that. While humiliation was a part of the story, it was very relevant to the plot and character development. I ended up loving this story and I completely understand why humiliation was used in the beginning. Catharsis is always hard. Be sure you have tissues with you when you read it. You'll definitely need them.

I did not like this book in the beginning. I'm not sure you're supposed to. I hated David, I was uncomfortable with what he did. I didn't care for Marjorie, and found her annoying, wishy-washy, and way way way too accepting of things at some point, but way too aggressive at other points. But, then something switched about half way through. Maybe it was when Marjorie learned she was falling in love, maybe it was the glimpses into the real David. I don't know. But, by the end, I had cried from ple...more

M.F. Sinclair had me completely enthralled in The Dom of My Dreams.
This, my friends, was a homerun read.

I had been feeling a little bit of BDSM novel burn-out but this book has rekindled the flame. There is all that fiery sexuality, smoldering sensuality, and just the right amount of angst to keep my attention. However, this is a story with heart. A story of fixations, fear, love and doubt. It's these things that have kept me up all night to finish this book. I did not want to put it down for...more

This is not what a healthy, sexy, consensual BDSM relationship looks like. I suppose it's well-written, especially if you're comparing it to something like 50 Shades, but it completely fails the basic test of a romance novel in that there was no way I could cheer for these people to get together. Marjorie is a broken woman with tragically low self-esteem who needs massive amounts of therapy before she should be allowed near any kind of interpersonal relationship (including friendship, judging by...more
