Review: Sirenz Back in Fashion is even better than Sirenz. I know, I know!! You’re thinking how the heck is this possible Erika? The only way I can figure it is that Charlotte and Natalie are muses sent to entice us with their imagination! Their ability to write witty dialogue, has won my heart completely. Also the cover is so cool! I like how the girls embody two very different looks. It keeps everything real and plays off of Shar and Meg themselves! Not to mention it reminds me of a certain picture at the bottom of this post!

The two girls are separated this time around and it allowed for each of them to come into their own. Though they could talk though Shars window that was connected to a Victoria’s secret window, which you can imagine got pretty hilarious. Both the girls have new love interests and seeing the situations they get in with them kept me petty dang entertained. I can’t decide who I like more though; Jeremy or Caz. Now, now I can’t forget my new favorite puppy, Cerberus! I want a terrifying doggy that is actually a sweetheart!

So there were killer outfits, witty dialogue, cute puppy, hot guys and one very complicated Hades. Which lead to a whole slew, word says that is how you spell that word, of action. At a couple points things slowed down a bit much for me. But in the end, the comedy aspect of the novel one me over! GET THIS SERIES!!

Sirenz Back in Fashion by Charlotte Bennardo and Natalie Zaman is the sequel to Sirenz. This series follows Shar and Meg who once again have found themselves in unwilling service to Hades again. Shar is swept away to the underworld. While there her existence is completely missing from Meg's world, replaced by rich girl Paulina whom Meg has to trick into wearing the golden fleece which will send her to Hades.

This was a nice sequel to Sirenz and felt like it's own book that could stand on its own....more

First of all, if you haven’t read Sirenz yet, I think you could read Sirenz Back in Fashion with little confusion. The authors did a nice job referencing enough from the first book, without bogging the beginning with summary, that a reader could continue with the sequel and not be confused the entire time reading. That being said, I still think you should read Sirenz first simply because it’s such a fun book!

Sequels are always tricky to review because it’s tough avoiding spoilers, so I’m going to try my best. First, I love that we get both Shar and Meg’s points of view in Sirenz Back in Fashion. Their voices are so distinct that it’s never confusing when the chapter changes and the character switches. Even when I was reading Sirenz I kept trying to determine which character was my favorite, and I still don’t know. Shar is hilarious the way she pines over great shoes and clothes, but she’s also smart enough to get herself through tough situations. Meg isn’t as thrilled by fashion as Shar, but she’s coming around and trying to make herself stand out a little more. I like Meg’s character because she’s loyal and witty, much like Shar as well, and quick on her feet. Even though these two characters are drastically different in their appearance and style, they make a good team. The way both characters work off each other really makes their dialogue and scenes together pop.

Another plus to Sirenz Back in Fashion is the way Charlotte Bennardo and Natalie Zaman tied in Greek mythology once again. We really get to know Hades and Persephone in Sirenz, but in the sequel we get to interact with demi-gods and other gods like Eurydice. The gods read like modern day people as opposed to how they’re often presented now in YA mythology novels. I don’t mind when other novels keep the gods “in character” so to speak, but I like that the authors took what they know about the different gods and used that information to form their characters. For instance, Hermes shows up looking like a runner and Hades, like in Sirenz, is dark and handsome and alluring. He’d need to be if he’s going to lure people to the underworld and trick them into doing things they normally wouldn’t. It’s just a fun twist on the mythology which I enjoyed immensely.

Sirenz Back in Fashion is a sequel to Sirenz, but it’s still it’s own book and story. The girls are tricked yet again by Hades, but this time the story has a new twist. If you’re looking for something light-hearted and fun to read this summer, I highly suggest reading both Sirenz and Sirenz Back in Fashion because they’re quick, enjoyable reads; perfect for summer! Greek mythology is always a hit in my classroom, so I expect this sequel to be just as popular as the first book was.(less)

SIRENZ BACK IN FASHION follows Shar and Meg as they are unwittingly pulled back into the service of Hades by putting on a certain magical Tiffany’s ring. Shar is sent to Tartarus while Meg remains on Earth to track down a girl by the name of Paulina. Meanwhile, both are dealing with boy issues, leading to some rather interesting situations.

Let me start with my favorite scene – the Window Girl escapades. Meg and Shar can communicate though a Victoria’s Secret window occasionally, but talking to a window in public (and nobody else knowing what you’re talking to) leads to some awkwardness. Oh! And Cerberus becoming a cute, adorable pet made me laugh to no end. This story brings the humor. Oh Hades, it is a story that will make you laugh…and laugh some more…and a little more…and prepare to snort milk out your nose.

One thing these authors excel at is dialogue. The witty banter was the highlight for me, although I would have liked to see how these relationships had developed in book one. I enjoyed Meg and Shar, but I didn’t quite get them as a pair, even though me and one of my closest friends – brought together by a shared apartment – are complete opposites like these two. Oh, and my name is Meg(an). Sadly, she is not a Shar. If she was, I’d send her this book this instant.

The story is a quick read and deliciously fluffy. Oh, and can I just admit that I loved Jeremy? More so than Caz, although Caz was delicious in his own right. Delicious. I clearly love that word today, but it fits this story so well.

One thing I did have a slight issue with was the inevitable twist, and the relationship between Meg and Paulina – her target and inevitable roommate. While I didn’t see it coming, something about it, combined with the explanation, felt a little empty. Zeus, as well, just seemed kind of blah. I wanted more action, more suspense, but I came away a little sad and empty afterwards. I enjoyed the build up (minus the forced bikinis for poor Shar) and the course of the story, but the ending just was a bit flat. However, I am interested (very interested) in knowing where this story goes next.

VERDICT: A delectable, humorous story with intrigue and fun, SIRENZ BACK IN FASHION is almost a Tiffany’s ring. With a little more climax as you see the finished product on your finger, it would have been a 100% knockout, but it’s miles better than cubic zircon, that’s for sure!(less)

They decide to go on a little shopping spree and oops, at the bottom of Shar's purse is a Tiffany's box. She knows there is a five carat, flawless, emerald cut diamond set in platinum because Hades gave it to her in the last book. She never really accepted it because well, it kind of looks like an engagement ring and Persephone has one just like it. And she kind of forgot about it. But that little blue box is just too tempting to shop-a-holic, accessory obsessed, perfectly dressed Shar especially when Meg eggs her on to try it. So she does and guess who appears? Yep, with some hooey about contractual clause etc. Shar ends up in the Underworld in a polka dot bikini and those red heels from the last book that started all this trouble and Meg is given the task of making Paulina Swanson wear the Golden Fleece which has the power to send her to the Underworld. But unlike last time, Meg has no idea what Paulina did to deserve this punishment and when pushed, Hades tells her to just do her job.

Paulina becomes her roommate and makes it almost impossible for her to dislike her. Meanwhile Shar is stuck in the Underworld in bikini's and sheer dresses picked out by Hades with no sign of Persephone, as it's Spring. His advances are getting increasingly harder to ignore and avoid, except for a delicious fellow captive named Caz. Together they explore the underworld from Ancient Greece to current day NYC. And Shar has to play hostess for Hades planning the W'Underworld Ball! Except for being in the Underworld, she really is in her element, there.

Of course, nothing is as easy as it sounds, just like last time and though there are no chicken toes or feathers, there is some humiliation on Meg's part, like talking to a window of chocolate confections when she and Shar get five minutes a week to talk. Other uncomfortable things occur and getting Paulina to put the fleece on, though it sounds simple, just isn't easy for Meg to do. Shar gets upset when Meg doesn't succeed faster than she should and the girls start to suspect each other of liking where they are. Divide and conquer anyone?

There were some truly funny scenes in this one and the girls really had to use their wits to get out of this one. Shar may have made a deal with the real devil himself. And you just know at the end that this isn't over, mainly because of Caz and Paulina. And the surprises. And what Hades tells them.

Some favorite lines from the novel:
"Ooh, this was so not going to be good: I just knew it all the way down to my You-Can-Never-Be-Too-Pink toenail polish.(p.19)
Shar talks to herself a lot in the Underworld so the italicized are her retorts to Hades-"Yes, Mr. Megalo-maniac, I think we all get the pic." I faked a girly squeal and jumped away from both the tree and him. ...Bad things happen to girls in gardens with snakes.(p.130)
"...pulled me so close I felt like I was sharing his pants."( p.230)
I guess by now you've figured out that Shar is the one with the witty comebacks and sharp retorts whether spoken aloud or just in her thoughts. I'd like to have her mind. Snark is her middle name.
If only Hades could read her mind.....

Anyway, this is an absolutely must for the Summer! If you haven't read the first novel, you really should to know what the references are about. They are both great summertime reads! Clean and wholesome, though there are quite a few references to what Hades wants from Shar and it's not the pleasure of her company. And before you think gross, his picture is on the back of the book and he is sinfully yummy!

They just want to forget about the dreadful deal with Hades – he tricked them into becoming his sirens – but inevitably the world is full of reminders and they learn that some gifts aren’t worth the price.

In this installment things are a little more difficult because Hades decides to separate them. And now Meg has to work alone and try to get what Hades wants done so she can save Shar from Tartarus, where she was sent to prepare a ball for Hades. Part of his twisted plan is to keep her closer because of his obsession with her. She is the only one that can resist all his charms. If Meg fails, they must face an eternity in the Underworld with Hades and his vengeful wife.

Worst of all is that Meg doesn’t feel right about this assignment, something is wrong and she can’t figure it out, unlike last time. She befriends the person she should be sending to Hades, which makes things more difficult for her and Shar because now she feels replaced.

We see them individually which I really enjoy, now they have to figure things out on their own and make decisions that can make a difference for each one of them and some other characters.

I liked that we get to see a different side of the main characters, especially Shar. She is more selfless in this book and I enjoy her sense of humor. I love her encounters with Hades, they are clever and well done; Shar keeping him on his toes and a heart-to-heart talk in one scene.

Both characters will make you laugh with their snarky comments or just the scene itself.

This one was a big improvement from book one, especially the writing and the switch between points of view. The change between chapters was smooth, so that made me enjoy it and like it even more than the first one.

One of the things I really like is that is not a complex book, very light and easy without many complications. But it surprised me with twists I wasn’t expecting, especially towards the ending; kudos to the authors because it leads perfectly into a sequel and now I’m wondering what is going to be the role of Hades in the next book, among other new developments involving two demi-gods and another big character in the greek mythology.

Fast-paced, funny and very enjoyable, this is a perfect summer read with a little intrigue which adds a little edge to it.

On a side note: Both books can be read as standalones, so no need to worry if you haven’t read the first one.(less)

So Meg is stuck on Earth searching for another human soul for Hades while Shar is in the Underworld planning a fete for his wife, Persephone. And if you remember your mythology, you know Persephone is a really unhappy camper when she has to return to Hades every six months.

So you know that when Cerebus pops his three heads up in this new installment was heart was won. Shar takes this beast and pretty much turns him into a "good goggie" since she is stuck in the Underworld with not much to entertain her. Caz is the only guy that really talks to Shar here and without Meg (her new BFF) she is lost but know she has to pull it together to get through the contract and back into freedom. Meg has it no better and find she worked better with Shar. Meg is still trying to connect with Jeremy. The view of the Underworld that is related here is something that really rings true: hell is what you make it.

I really think I enjoyed this one even more than the first. The bickering between the two girls as they learn to work separately, yet together, and the friendship that develops because of it really came across as endearing and funny. The dialogue is just sparkling -- and no, not in that certain vampiric way. I think this one could stand alone but it might be best to read Sirenz first to get the full background. The ending does leave a nice opening for another installment that includes Kronos -- so maybe some time travel is in the girls' future? This series should be a good start to get girls hooked on Chick Lit as well. Again, this one is pretty clean except for some questionable moments of Hades only allowing Shar bathing suits and skimpy outfits to wear in the Underworld. I really wanted to rename it Underwearworld. I think adults who favor MaryJanice Davidson's Queen Betsy series would adore this one.

I very much enjoyed the new bond that has formed between Shar and Meg and the plot definitely comes with extra twists and turns that made Sirenz Back in Fashion a pleasure to read! With this sequel I felt that it was more like two different plots that have been weaved into a bigger picture. Shar and Meg were very much separated during this novel even though their friendship has bought them closer then ever. Shar was held captive in Hell with Hades where she met Caz, who is this gorgeous boy that will melt you into a muddle! Meg has been assigned to bring Paulina, her new roommate back to hell in order to get Shar back. These girls followed very different plot lines during the novel but Bennardo and Zaman has managed to the two plots very nicely into a big picture.

The characterisation in Sirenz Back in Fashion was very well done. As I mentioned before, I really like the new bond between Shar and Meg that was formed during their adventures during Sirenz. The solid friendship between the two very different girls really gave the story that extra shine. That friendship is something that a lot of readers can relate as we have that friendship bond with our own friends! Not to mention it was nice to read a book where friendship was more important than boys ( although they are VERY important as well!). Shar has grown as a character, while she's still the fun drama queen we met in Sirenz, she is definitely nicer and more considerate. Meg is still herself but with Shar's friendship, I think she's opened up to other people a lot better! Caz is one of my new favourite characters because HE IS JUST TOO HOT TO DESCRIBE! I also thought Paulina was an interesting character, I definitely see that HUGE bomb, Bennardo and Zaman dropped on us during the last few chapters of the book. Overall, definitely a unique and fun cast of characters!

My recommendation is for everyone to rush to their nearest bookstore and pick up both Sirenz and Sirenz Back in Fashion. Honestly, this is one of my favourite series. Straying from the typical YA Greek mythology novels, Bennardo and Zaman has created a unique story that combines the traditional greek myths with humour, fashion and characters that you'll love! Sirenz Back in Fashion is completely amazing and I can't wait to see what Bennardo and Zaman has planned for us next!(less)

I remember reading Sirenz last year and thinking what an awesome, funny story it is, you can swallow it whole in one sitting. Well, if possible, Sirenz Back In Fashion is even better!

What I like about Bennardo & Zaman's writing is how light it is. In an industry such as the YA industry which is filled with dark, gloomy and haunting paranormal books, Sirenz Back In Fashion certainly stands out as unbelievably refreshing and vivacious. I jumped right in after finishing book one. If it is possible this book is even better than the first- that may have something to do with some pretty smokin demi-gods. Meg and Shar find themselves once again locked in contract with Hades. Sirenz Back in Fashion was cute, funny, and a massive improvement from Sirenz (book 1 in the Sirenz series). Once again Shar and Meg unwittingly make a deal with Hades that has them begging for mercy. The premise is exactly the same as Sirenz, but there were several plot elements that made the story much more enjoyable.

This was the second book in the Sirenz series which I was lucky enough to win. Each chapter flipped back and forth being told from the point of view from each of the two main characters. I didn't care for this at first but once I got used to it I really enjoyed the book. It was easy to follow the story even though I never read the first book. When I first heard that there was a sequel to the laugh out loud, joy of a novel called Sirenz, I was so excited. What kind of trouble can Shar and Meg get themselves into after the catastrophe in Sirenz? When I first heard that there was a sequel to the laugh out loud, joy of a novel called Sirenz, I was so excited. What kind of trouble can Shar and Meg get themselves into after the catastrophe in Sirenz? I should have know that Hades wasn't finished with them just yet, and this time, they had to fulfill their missions apart from each other.

Shar and Meg got caught up with Hades once more because of a loophole in their contract, and now they're back in business of sending a soul into Tartarus. But Hades, the clever God that he is, imprisoned Shar in the Underworld, while Meg was left to fend for herself topside. The condition was clear: send Paulina Swanson to Tartarus by letting the fashionable chic wear The Golden Fleece and Shar will be free, otherwise they will be both trapped in Tartarus forever. But nothing was ever made easy for the best friends, and this time, they might need more than each other to succeed.

Char and Nat put a clever, more entertaining spin to this rib-tickling series with wholly different encounters for both Shar and Meg. I loved that the author allowed both characters to venture out on their own so the readers can see more of their personalities develop separately, and how they will react to things individually. I can't decide which was more interesting. Seeing Shar fend off a God's advances, or watching Meg struggle with a room mate as reclusive as Paulina. I never got tired of reading of their interactions with various Gods and Goddesses and the modern spin the authors put on them, while maintaining that mythical feeling to each of the characters. A snarky Persephone, a snobby Hermes, a mysterious ferryman for the dead, even the dead people in the Underworld, all of them contributed in making the story a little bit more enjoyable.

The addition of the demigods were the twist I wasn't expecting in this book. I loved how after all of the things Hades seems to be getting both Shar and Meg into, they had their own chance and a shot with love, no matter how brief it is. I lived for those tender, fleeting moments between our heroines and their love interests. Our heroines are finally getting a shot at something positive, and a few more unexpected surprises pops up every now and then that I am just so glad the mystery kept building up with each chapter. Expect to find some craziness in the book! If you think Sirenz was downright funny, Sirenz Back in Fashion is a little different, a little bit more serious and more into letting the readers get to know more about Shar and Nat as well as the God of Underworld, Hades. There's more than meets the eye in the case of this particular God. And although I wish there was more action and more intense moments that will give the book more bang and a lot more impact, the intrigue and suspense made up for it a little bit.

There's something about the witty banter happening on all of the characters, and the contrast of both Shar and Meg's personality that makes this book so light and fluffy. My favorite writing tandem has written a great follow up for Sirenz with Sirenz Back in Fashion. I can't wait to see what's in store next for Shar and Nat! I hope to get to see more of Castor and Pollux as well! Something tells me the 3rd book has more surprises in store for its readers, and the ending, though a bit flat and expected, gave way to a lot of possibilities for the Shar and Nat's next adventure.(less)

When I read the summary for this book, I knew I had to read it. I'm a mythology nut. The title should have tipped me off that this was a sequel (to Sirenz), but well, I didn't pick up on it right away. Still, you don't need to have read the first book to enjoy this one. Sirenz Back in Fashion was just the right mixture of paranormal and humor. Meg and Shar’s sarcastic comments about their predicaments had me laughing the entire time. Reasons to Read:

1.A very close friendship between Meg & Shar:

One of my favourite things about these books is how well they portray a friendship between two vastly different girls; and I love that the story didn't end with Sirenz 1 where they only just become friends after looking past their differences because so many stories just finish with that. But here we get to see the difficulties they encounter as they try to figure out if they can overcome their differences, even while apart. It's a huge strain on their relationship, but I love that the friendship the two share is more important than any boy or villain or vengeful goddess!

2.Hades is a villain you just love to hate:

I have to say, I'm a fan of this trend that seems to be growing where we have those sexy bad guys who are actually the antagonists/villains of the story... but you can't help but love them at the same time. Hades is a PERFECT example of this- he's totally flawed, and can be jerk, but there are times when he's refreshingly sweet and unlike the other love interests. I have a soft spot for him, like I think most other Sirenz readers do, and I'm REALLY curious about what will end up happening with him.

3.Shar gets a guy!:

I don't know about you, but when I heard there was a potential guy for Shar thrown into the mix that was reason enough for me to read this sequel. I just really like Shar, and I felt so badly with how things turned out for her at the end of Sirenz! She feels underrated to me, so I liked that we got to see a LOT more of her in terms of development and good things happening :)
You won't find anything earth-shattering with these books, but they are lighthearted and fun - they're positive and uplifting, and just all-around enjoyable!

I really wanted to like this book, but I just thought it was okay. I don't know if it's because I still have The Goddess Test and Goddess Interrupted still fresh on my mind, and the books aren't comparable because this one is a comedy and the others are more serious, but the story kind of paled in comparison.

I read Sirenz, the first book in this series a while ago and it was such a fun read and as you probably already know, I'm a bit obsessed with Greek Mythology and the appearance of it in YA makes me all giddy and excited to read anything to do with it! So when I saw there would be a sequel to Sirenz I went LET ME HAVE IT!! And I was definitely not disappointed!

In Sirenz we met Meg and Shar and let me just say that those two girls are SO much fun! I'd want to be friends with them! The POV switches between them each chapter and I loved seeing the story through in their different voices. I didn't once get confused as to who was narrating and I love how distinctive their voices and characters were.
They've definitely grown a lot since the beginning of the series and I love it when that happens!

Also, while appreciating both for the wonderful characters they are on their own, I just adored the friendship they share. It's not always easy, especially with all of the Siren stuff going on, but they genuinely care for each other and are willing to put aside their own feelings for the other and take pretty big risks. I loved how they both were better persons for being friends.

Though I did think that the action that triggered all of the events in Sirenz Back In Fashion was a bit of a too-stupid-to-live moment, that was the only one, so I can overlook it. I loved meeting all the new characters and reacquainting myself with those that had also made an appearance in Sirenz.

Basically, this was a really fun, light read and I breezed right through it! The writing is very engaging and though I did figure out one plot twist pretty early on, that's only because I'm such a Greek Mythology geek ;) I did understand how Meg didn't see it, cause yeah, it wasn't all that obvious if you didn't have all the information.

There were sweet moments between the two friends, there's romance, there were laugh out loud funny moments, I especially enjoyed Hades' disgruntledness at Cerebus wanting to cuddle and Shar calling him a 'good goggy'. Also, at the end I went OMG! LET THERE PLEASE BE A SEQUEL!!! So you can imagine my excitement when I saw that Goodreads has a third, untitled book listed for 2013 :)

If you're looking for a fun, Greek Mythology YA that will bring a smile to your face: pick up this series!

Paulina Swanson, Meg’s new roommate, was her next assignment. All Meg had to do was to make Paulina wear the Golden Fleece and that would send Paulina straight to Tartarus. But of course, when it came to Hades’ assignments, things were never easy. Everyone seemed to be attracted to the fleece aside from Paulina. She wouldn’t get anywhere near it. Aside from that, Paulina was a good person. She was actually friendly and nice albeit weird. This made it harder for Meg to send her to Tartarus.

Tartarus was scary and weird but also imaginative. Hades converted it into his own Olympus, creating strange but beautiful things and landscapes. I enjoyed reading about Shar exploring hell. Aside from playing with Cerberus and talking with Benjamin “Ben” Franklin, she met someone who made everything a little bit easier – gorgeous and charming Caz. He was ever helpful and was a good listener. Together with Shar, they searched Tartarus for a way back to earth. The romance between Caz and Shar was sweet. It was the kind that left you wanting more.

Meanwhile, Meg’s lovelife was a bit dull what with the stress of trying to finish the assignment while battling with her guilt, catching up with school and worrying about Shar. No longer frenemies, the BFFs had a stronger friendship. I liked how the authors focused on friendship rather than romance. It was something that I missed seeing in paranormal novels. The voices of Shar and Meg despite the supernatural, extraordinary situations that they were in, remained witty, funny and also down to earth. For me, that element allowed me to connect with them easily. It was like reading a paranormal novel that has a Chick-lit soul, the best of both worlds.

As usual, Zaman and Bennardo amazed me with their beautiful writing. I was pulled in with the storytelling. I also loved the new characters. Shar and Meg’s world became broader, encompassing not only earth and hell but everything else in between. Hermes and Zeus made their appearance in the sequel as well, adding color and complexity to it. Sirenz Back in Fashion is packed with humor, romance, adventure and misadventure. Every page is addicting. I couldn’t stop reading this.(less)

Greek mythology has never been more fabulous!

I absolutely LOVED Sirenz, when I received it for review from the two lovely authors, and so when I heard that the sequel was up for request on NetGalley, I jumped on that offer. The sequel definitely did not disappoint! The humor was amazing as always, and the Greek mythology references just kept coming in it's own glamourous and glitzy fashion.

I had the pleasure last summer of reading and reviewing the first back, Sirenz, and of interviewing both ladies. Today, I'm reviewing the second book, "Sirenz Back in Fashion". SBIF is even funnier than the first, and though they're about the same length, this one, for me, was a much faster read.

Shar and Meg have become friends after events of the last book and are still roomies at their private high school (which sometimes felt more like a college). Once again, they're out shopping when Hades comes back into their lives. Hades tricks them, no surprise there, but I didn't expect the full extent of it. I figured out Caz's real identity pretty quickly but, I'm embarrassed at how long it took me to figure out who Paulina was.

I didn't completely buy into Hades' reasoning behind the job he tricked Shar and Meg into doing but it didn't interfere with my enjoyment of the story. It was fast, enjoyable, funny, and gives us new, and interesting, takes on Tartarus, Cerebus (also spelled Cerberus, and I'm glad I don't have to scoop up HIS poop!), the dead in Greek mythology, and even Zeus. Bennardo and Zaman don't make major changes to traditional Greek mythology, just tweak it a bit to update it, and it works well. They keep the basics, including personalities, while making them modern and relatable. Tartarus particularly seems like it could be a fun place, not what you would expect to find in the underworld, and is an intriguing version of the afterworld.

The ending of the story is a bit pat, but the authors set up an intriguing storyline for the next book involving Kronos aka Chronos, one of the Titans, who is even sneakier than Hades. Meg proves herself even braver than I thought, and Shar is quite clever. As they deal with their separate pieces of their job assignment, they have to re-learn how to trust each other and work separately yet together. Their fights and disagreements felt real, like your average American teen, though at times Shar felt more mature than I expected. She copes quite well, for a teenager, with the come-ons and seduction from a married man, Hades.

All together, "Sirenz Back In Fashion" is fun, funny, clever, and enjoyable. Flux Books sadly declined to pick up book three but the authors are planning to release it themselves as an e-book. I'm looking forward to it.

Zaman and Bennardo really bring the Gods and Goddesses to life for a new generation to enjoy. We all slogged through traditional Mythology in HS, and it was never this much fun. Take a ride with Shar and Meg as they try to outwit Hades-the sexy Lord of the Underworld-who tricks them into doing his bidding once again. I can't wait to read the next installment in this clever series. Bravo!

A lot of the novels I read are pretty dark and serious, so sometimes I’m just in the mood for something light and fun but with an edge to it. When I read about Sirenz Back in Fashion by Charlotte Bennardo and Natalie Zaman, it sounded like exactly the kind of break I was looking for.
