ARC for Bitten by Paranormal Romance
This was such a well written story. I just can't get over how much I enjoyed it. It was a paranormal, romantic suspense novel. I have a lot of nice things to say about this book, but the best part of it for me was how smooth the writing was in the story. I felt like I was in the story watching everything happen live. There was a lot of very realistic dialogue between several very interesting characters. There was just enough happening to keep me on the edge of...more

Wow ! Stephanie I have to say this is the best romantic ,fiction , and paranormal book! I loved everything about it ! The romance between Layla and Ray was truly beautiful and it has a great plot :) I liked the way Seth had captured Layla and took away all her memories and how Isabel helped Layla in the end a great friendship ! I enjoyed the end where Layla has a child , so cute! It was very sweet of her to name it after Isabel :) I absolutely adored this book, it was great and I couldn't put it...more
Dark Sins and Desert Sands by Stephanie Draven is romance novel
that combines suspense and the paranormal in a contemporary setting. It
is part of Draven's Mythica series, but the only one that I have read. I

the new twist on mythology and the gods. It was a quick read, with
action and romance that moved at a fast pace.

Kept getting confused in the story. Had a lot of sex scenes. Lot of deaths.
Their is also self sacrifice, love and forgiveness.
Dr. Layla Bahset has no memories of her life except the last two years. She woke up in the deseret in a car, box of certificate she earned and plenty of money enough to set up her office.

I generally shy away from romantic suspense and paranormal books. But the contributing elements of the story – an US soldier, an interrogating psychologist, and ancient mythology – inspired me to review this book. This is the first book I’ve read by Stephanie Draven and I realized that I have missed out on her gripping stories. DARKS SINS AND DESERT SANDS is a page turner from desert to desert – Syria to Las Vegas. Indeed, each locale stands on opposite ends of a cultural spectrum. Yet both are...more

This was an enjoyable story with very likeable main characters. The story was interwoven very well and I enjoyed the strings all coming together. The sizzle between Ray and Layla was great and the tension caused by their history made it even better. The only problem is the book unravel a little at the end. The show down becomes just that bit too out there for it to be believable. I know Seth is arrogant so would think he can do what ever he likes and Isabel is somewhat the same but the showdown...more
Ms. Draven has created a world that very closely resembles our own except for the fact that the Gods walk among us as well as other creatures out of legends. And it could be possible as I am positive that there are more things out there then we have discovered as of yet. I found this world to be interesting and it does cause one of wonder if the war in the desert has been going on for long due to a God's interference.

Ray Stavrakis is one scary sonovabitch! With his ability to use mind control and morph into a Minotaur, Ray is definitely a force to be reckoned with. However, it wasn’t just his uncanny abilities that made him freaky, it was his testosterone-driven I-will-kill-you vibe he was sporting through the entire book. I will admit, I did not like Ray in the beginning of this book. In fact, I thought he was a jerk with a big chip on his shoulder.

My reviewer Kellie's Thoughts:
Let me start by saying I read and listened to this book at every opportunity until it was read. I listened in the car while running errands, read between chores and I feel asleep while trying to get in one more chapter.
Dark Sins and Desert Sands is a love story with a twist; a love story that overcomes the worst betrayal and the powers of Gods. When you’re meant to be together no unworldly powers can’t stop it.

As with the other books in Stephanie Draven's MYTHICA series, DARK SINS ANS DESERT SANDS is a walk on the dark side of the human condition, with war-forged and war-born mythological characters come to life on the page. Ray Stavrakis is a minotaur in a human body, and he's out for vengeance against Layla Bahset, a woman he believes had a hand in torturing him while he was imprisoned.

Being new to the Mythica series I wasn't quite sure what to expect from a romance based on a mind controlling minotaur, it just seems more far-fetched than what I normally read, so I was surprised that the romance practically scorched the pages! Not sure how I feel about a man that can command orgasms with his mind (I think I might prefer the traditional way on that one) but it was an interesting idea and fit with the storyline of Layla's missing memories.

In Draven's paranormal romance novel, U.S. serviceman Ray Stavrakis emerged after escaping a hellish Syrian prison, with uncanny mind-control powers and the ability to morph into a mythical Minotaur. Half-man, half-bull, Ray was powerful but only one woman could prove his innocence. Ironically, it was the same woman who'd driven him close to insanity with interrogation and sensuality. But Vegas psychologist Layla Bahset had no memory of her past, only the sense of being stalked. Was it Ray who c...more

Ray is no ordinary man; he has the ability to walk into others dreams as a legendary Minotaur and to control their actions with the power of his mind. All this power is now channelled on finding the one person who can clear his name, the therapist that his captors used to interrogate him and who allowed them to hurt him more when he didn’t brea...more
Wow. That cover is just...epic! Really loved that cover, I gotta say. Now on to the rest of the book, lol.
I don't usually read stories about military/ex-military and PTSD, I don't have the strength to go through it with them. But this being a Harlequin, I was betting on that part of the story being more like a setting then a significant matter - I was wrong. Sort of. The ex-military and PTSD does come into play, but since we have other elements like mythology, old Egyptian gods, Aztec goddesses,...more

Taut suspense, amazing layers to the characters, and a level of emotional depth that just blew me away. This is heads and tails better than an average paranormal. The modern day twist to ancient mythology sucked me in from page one. Several big twists I never saw coming, and the dark complexity kept me frantically turning the pages. Oh, and the sex scenes left my fingertips burning just from touching the page. This is a must read!

I really enjoyed this book. One of the questions that the author had fun answering was where do defunct gods, goddesses, and mythological creatures go when they no longer have believers? The answer is VEGAS. My favorite vacation spot.
This was quick, fun read.
No question, this is my favorite of Stephanie Draven's Mythica books yet. There were so many excellent elements - the war story was compelling, the way the immortal characters were rendered and intertwined throughout was fascinating, and I was driven to finish quickly to unravel all the secrets waiting to be revealed. The classic romance scenes were scintillating (Oh. My. God.), but in between them was a meaty story that made me (gladly) forget that the book I was reading happened to belong to t...more
