This is book two in the Bridal Veil Island series. You do not have to read the books in order to enjoy the stories. One of the highlights of this particular book is the setting. The authors do an excellent job of describing the island and how it would have appeared during the late 1800’s. I liked the story but felt the main characters could have been more likable. Their interactions were somewhat believable but there was too much wondering what the other was thinking.

The story follows Melinda...more

I love the cover of this book! It reminds me of a painting and in just absolutely gorgeous! I love the colors, the feel, and how it is a bit different than other Christian fiction covers out there.

As for the book, well, I struggled. My main problem- I didn't like Melinda or Evan. I felt like in writing Melinda, the author was making it obvious to the reader that she was at fault. I didn't appreciate that- especially when I didn't think she was altogether wrong for her feelings. Based on what I...more

o Love and Cherish by authors Traci Peterson and Judith Miller is the second book in the Bridal Veil series and while it gets off to a slow start it makes up for it at the end.

Melinda Colson is in love with Evan Tarlow and has been waiting for months for him to propose. But, Evan isn't cluing into her hints. He has declared his love to her, but as far as he's concerned, marriage will not happen until he can support her comfortably. Too bad Melinda hasn't quite got that message yet.

I had been eagerly anticipating the second book in the Bridal Veil Island series and this book was worth the wait!

I was expecting romance because that is what the authors are good at, but I was not expecting so much conflict in that romance. Melinda Colson is so sure her beau Evan will propose before she leaves Bridal Veil Island for the summer that she is shocked when he doesn't. The ups and downs of Melinda's feelings are what make this a wonderful book. After a hurricane strikes the island Me...more

The second book in the Bridal Veil Island series, To Love and To Cherish is a stand alone book that follows the life of the social elite and their servants who spent their winters in the exclusive resort community in Georgia.

Melinda is a presumptuous and, at-times, high handed heroine who is distressed that her beau has not seized his many opportunities to propose to her and save her from the menial life as a lady's maid. She did not e...more

I would give this 3.5 stars if I could....

This was just an OK book for me. It did get some really great reviews on Amazon and B&N. But it just didn't do anything for me. It started out so slow, I actually put it down for a couple days and started another book. I then picked it back up again and it did get a little better half way through. But I could "take it or leave it" at any point during the read.

The character development was alright, but I didn't really feel connected to any characters. I actually kind of disliked them. I thou...more

::My Thoughts::
I really couldn't get into this book. There are snippets here and there in each chapter that are interesting, but I just wasn't feeling the characters connections with each other. It seemed like I was struggling to stay interested.
Rather than a love that should bond them together it seemed more as if they felt their relationship was a chore. Neither Melinda nor Evan have the urgency to see each other and despite them being busy with their jobs in the story their reunions were neve...more

I enjoyed this easy read. One reason I like Christian romance is that beyond not having to worry about steamy inappropriate scenes, there are faith building nuggets tucked within and I come away inspired to take my faith more seriously. Sometimes, okay, honestly, most of the time, this genre is more than a little cheesy and predictable, but while it was clear from the beginning what the end would be with this book, there was enough that happened in between to keep the pages turning and I didn't...more

If you're not already a Judith Miller fan, you will be once you read one of her books. In the Bridal Veil books, she teams up with Tracie Peterson for yet another series that will hold you captive until the very last page. This is the second of the series and I can't wait to read the third.

Judy is impeccable in her research as is Tracie. Although Bridal Veil Island is fictional, their attention to detail from the time period and geographic region makes it seem real and a place you'd love to vi...more

To Love and Cherish is book number two in the Bridal Veil Island series by Christian authors Tracie Peterson and Judith Miller. When I requested to review this book, I did not realize it was actually the second in a series I was unfamiliar with, however it was a good stand alone book.

What I loved: I did like the setting (close to turn of the 19th century and primarily in Bridal Veil Island, a fictional island near a real to life place called Jekyll Island off the coast of Georgia, I believe). I...more

Melinda Colson and Evan Tarlow are in love. And have been for some time without progressing towards Melinda's desirable goal of marriage. Melinda is sure that they are ready to wed while Evan is convinced that he must be able to financially support a family before he can propose. Thus, a stalemate ensues and Melinda, a lady's maid by occupation, once again leaves Bridal Veil Island to serve her mistress and anxiously await the next visit to the island. When Melinda hears that a hurricane has dam...more

This was an okay read. Having visited the part of Georgia where this series is set, I enjoyed the descriptions of the island and life on it. Only one of the characters was likeable: housekeeper Emma. The main character was very demanding and not understanding at all about why her beau couldn't offer marriage. I think her brother learned the biggest lesson. I was also disappointed that the main characters from the first book in the series didn't even make a cameo appearance.

Melinda Colson has a rather tragic past, but her future is promising. She works as a lady's maid and her employers spend their winters on Bridal Veil Island, where Evan Tarlow works year-round as gamekeeper. Melinda anxiously awaits a proposal from Evan before she must leave with her employers, but her hopes are dashed when no proposal comes. I'm reading the Bridal Veil Island series in reverse, so characters whose names should be somewhat familiar are new to me thus being a bit confusing. That said, I'm enjoying the series by Tracie Peterson and Judith Miller. However, the main characters in this title didn't appeal to me as much as the final book in the series.

This book was interesting. I was a little annoyed with Melinda as she seemed a little impulsive but it was still a good book. I also like that it covered a time in history not often discussed.

This was a sweet love story. This was set in 1890. I love reading books set in a long ago era. I find it fascinating to read how they lived then. It sure makes you appreciate how far we've come.

I've read other Tracie Peterson books. It's a gentle read. I like them to unwind after driving on my commute home. The authors put in a bit of suspense with a foiled assination plot of President McKinley.

It was good though the plot didnt come til the very end!!! Or maybe it was creating it but I didn't realize it!

This book didn’t really capture my attention. I had to kind of force myself to finish reading it. Which was a bit of a disappointment for me since I love Tracie Peterson’s other books. None-the-less it was a good book, though it was a slow reader for me.

I will probably finish the series and read it once in awhile. It has some good historic points in it, too. Anyways hope you enjoyed.
