It would be an understatement to say that this book changed my life. Knowing this book and its author is my life. Just today I read Psalms 81 and Romans 5 and it breathed life and mystery into me for my day. I have learned to better love the Saviour and hero of this book, Jesus Christ, and what my identity and life is in him.
I would say that this book best compares to the food and water that we need for our bodies. In the same way we desire more food and drink throughout our day, so ...more

This book rocked my world, or rather the people that I was introduced to in this book rocked my world-view.
The truth that this book reveals is foundational to who I've become, and my approach to life.
It is constantly challenging my perspectives, habits, and my lifestyle.
It is one of the most controversial books, and yet so many find hope, joy, and peace through it.
But most importantly, I learned that I was loved, and I learned how to love.

I've never read the Bible--none of the New Testament, and in Sunday school I only learned stories of the Torah without any real first-hand reading of it. So a year or so ago I decided once and for all to buy the thing and read it.
Have you ever tried to buy a Bible? Which version to choose, which version to choose. I've always been fascinated by the archeological and historical basis of the Bible, and I was a lot more comfortable buying and reading the Bible with an intellectualizin...more

I am reading the Bible in one year. I picked this one because it is presented from the beginning of time to the end of time, so if writers tell the same story, you read their versions concurrently. The Bible, itself, deserves 5 stars, but I am giving it 4 stars here, because I this version may not be for all readers.

This is the actual Bible I own (didn't know I could find it online)colors are really fun. Definitely enjoy reading it, particularly Esther, psalms, Ecclesiastes, John, Romans (and many other passages from the epistles). It's more than amazing, I live by this, it's the Word of God!

I learned that God loves us very much that he sent Jesus as our Savior and that he wants all (everybody) to go to heaven for eternity.
God has been taking care of his people ever since they have been on this earth. he protects us and gets us through problems through prayer.
It makes God very sad to see when people don't worship him and don't obey his commandments including love one another. It makes God very sad when he sees how humans destroy their lives and the lives of others with d...more

I'm not just giving this 5 stars because it's the Holy Word of God (which it is, and thus Perfect) -- but this particular version is quite wonderful for the intellectual seeking to read the Bible without needing battle garb.
The preface outlines, quite clearly, how the entire translation was pursued, how every nuance, confusion, and controversy is clearly detailed and indicated in the footnotes.
There is a deep concordance, and the footnotes on each page is at least 30% of ...more

I have known that Jesus loves me since I was born. MY momma & daddy sand hymns to me while they walked me as a newborn. I am a Cradle to Grave Christian. The B-I-B L-E is still a good read. Not real fond of church at this point in mylife. Churches remind me of High School lots of cliques. I still go when I can. I also love Judaism. I've been a Presbyterian, Lutheran, Methodist, Lutheran, Charimaniac, attended Catholic church, Synagogue, Baptist Services, Assemblies of God, Iglesia de Jesus, ad i...more

The Holy Bible
Always whenever i take this into my hands and open it i see the words i read them before, but the content it is telling you always changes.
It gives you relief from everything, it is itself a new world with many characters we may or may not face in our lives.
This keeps you so interesting all the way.. i can't express this feeling in the 26 English Alphabets i know.
Don't take anything religiously , bcoz i bet you this always gives us something b...more

This is the first time I've used a "Through the Bible in a year" Bible. I actually bought this for my husband, but picked it up on New years and decided to try it. Still liking it halfway through the year - although it is certainly hard to keep up with this along with any other Bible study homework at the same time. Because it is chronological, I won't be getting into the New Testament until September 1 (so maybe those other Bible studies are a good thing after all...), but one of th...more

Job was fascinating. It was especially fun to read here in China with all we're going through. He really wasn't as patient as I remember him being. Also, my notes had a lot of critisims for his friends... but I thought their only real problem was that they said he'd sinned when he didn't. Everything else seemed sound, or was I missing something?

My church read the New Testament as a whole these past two and a half months. Although I had probably read about 95% of it already as a consequence of being a churchgoer for all of my literate life, reading it in its entirety in such a relatively short period was a new and enlightening experience. I was surprised that I could actually keep up with the reading schedule, which was three to five chapters a day.

By god! I finished this stupid book. My conclusions? Parts are wonderful, parts are horrible, Paul is and remains an asshole (but an asshole who Got Shit Done), and the minor prophets are unjustly overlooked by the performance art community.
Good story:
After preaching before sold-out crowds at Ninevah, our boy Jonah goes stomping out of the city in a brown study, angry and bitter and bigoted. Jonah hates Assyrians, see, and would have liked nothing better than a little bit...more

This is one of the bibles I have read before & currently use for daily devotions. My wife Tina & I read this together in the mornings. The language used is easy to understand & speaks to the heart. God's inspired word is the guide to mankind for a successful life. I encourage anyone looking for answers to lifes questions to search God's word, but only if you desire the truth.

This is the Book by which all books and all of life must be read. When we read the Bible we must ask the Holy Spirit to read our hearts. For serious study in English I recommend the NASB. For daily reading in English I recommend the NIV. I especially like wide-margin Bibles so that you can take notes and write comments in the Bible as you read or listen to a sermon.

But God has chosen the foolish things if the world to shame the wise, and God has chosen the week things of the world to shame the things which are strong, and the base things of the world, and the despised, God has chosen, the things that are not so that He may nullify the things that are. So that no man may boast before God. 1 corinthians 1 v 26-29
