I received this book to review from the R2R (Read 2 Review) program. Thank you for the book and the chance to read it.
I devoured this book in a few short hours. It was about 180ish pages on the Nook, and I did enjoy it. This was a dystopian about a teenage girl named Sloane. In the beginning she starts out in the white sector, a place where she is safe. She soon travels to the red sector which is full of vampires to look for her brother who is presumed dead.

The Scarlet Dagger is a fun dystopian young-adult paranormal romance...perfect for a quick easy read. The story is set in what I believe to be the near future after an apocalyptic event that divides the world into two sectors (vampire and human). The heroine of the book is a 17 year old girl and there is quite a bit of action with her kicking some serious butt. The plot of this book was unique and refreshing. Two of my favourite things --- a dystopian setting and vampires!
Sloane, our main character was a human living in the safety of a protected community heads into the Red Sector in search of the brother she left behind 3 years before. What can I say, i absolutely loved this book from beginning to end. It was a nice new storyline with an amazing twist at the end.

I read this book as part of the R2R (Read to Review) program in the group Paranormal Romance and Urban Fantasy Fanatics! And I must say that I was surprised by it.

The overall story is pretty awesome. We have an apocalypse caused by vampires and post-apocalyptic/dystopian society, vampire hunter turned vampire, kick ass fighting scenes, love suspense, snitches, secrets, a killer disclosure of the villain’s identity and some good twists in the story. I really liked this take on post-apocalypse and vampires. And I was really excited at the beginning thinking I found another amazing read and gave it 5* immediately.

I read this book as part of the Read2Review program in the PNR & Urban Fantasy Fanatics discussion group! This program is aimed at getting lesser known authors exposure and 'chat' going about their books. 'The Scarlet Dagger' was a pleasant surprise. The post vampire-ravaged world was very interesting to visit. At times the underground of the Red Sector reminded me of the militant crew who invaded Sunnydale during a season of 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' (in a good way). What an EPIC book!! I just love a book that is action packed – I’m talking about sitting on the edge of your seat biting your nails type. The characters are freaking awesome and captivated my attention from the beginning.

Wow. I really liked this book, it was fast-paced, action-packed and 100% exciting. I actually thought I wouldn't like this book because I thought it was just another typical vampire novel. But I found myself entranced by the unique plot and Krystle Jones' style of writing. The book just leaves you wanting more.

There was NEVER a dual moment in this book and that's really rare to find a book that always has something going on! I was up until 4am finishing this. Whenever I get a book for under $5 I'm never expecting something particularly amazing. However, this book was a refreshing vampire story and despite a couple grammatical/spelling mistakes (which I could care less about) it awesome! My only problem was that what I think was supposed to be a twist or surprise seemed really obvious but that's just me.
