Kitapta çocukları olmasa da ben kendimce olayı komedileştirmek adına çocukları olduğunu ve çocuğun Damien'a (yani babasına) "Annemle nasıl tanıştın Baba?" sorusunu yönelttiğini farz edelim. Oda başlasın anlatmaya. "Dayın olacak adam halanı kaçırdı. Birde üstüne sakatladı. Bende Dayının bütün parasını kumarda kaybetmesine yol açtım. Sonra annen geldi, benden merhamet diledi. Ahlaksız bir teklifte bulunup, metresim yaptım. Tabii, sonradan işler karıştı. Bu eşşek kafalı baban, annen gibi melek bir kadına aşık oldu ama domuz inadı yüzünden kendine itiraf etmesi ne mümkün!

Hani Jerremy amcan varya, benim bu domuz inadımı kırmak için anneni kaçırıp, alı koydu. Bende ona sinirlenip düello teklif ettim. After hearing that this book was a very hot read I immediately began my search for it and bought it! I had no idea what it was about but on the promise of a good amount of steam I dove into it. While The Seduction delivered in the heat department, it didn’t pass as being a great book for this reader. 3 stars, here is why:

Quando se lê romances históricos com regularidade, chega-se a um ponto em que já pouca coisa é novidade, como foi o caso desta storyline para mim. No entanto não foi a primeira vez que li um livro com inúmeras semelhanças a outro, e tal nunca foi razão para não o apreciar, mas quando isto acontece, especialmente com os históricos, o eu gostar ou não, tem quase sempre a haver com o facto do livro me ter entretido mais ou menos, e na maior ou menor frequência de roll eyes durante a leitura -independentemente do tema estar muito ou pouco batido.

Dito isto, acho que posso passar já à parte em que confesso que li A Sedução quase que mecanicamente, e que muito antes da página 50 já os meus olhos tinham rolado na órbitas sei lá eu quantas vezes. E isto, que na minha opinião foi o grande problema do livro, tinha quase sempre a haver com o protagonista masculino e no facto de quase tudo o que ele diz rondar o foleiro, especialmente a sex talk. (Do género: Querida, vou-te levar às estrelas…*rolleyes*) Chateou-me ainda, que ele usasse com Vanessa, a protagonista, os mesmos “termos ternurentos” que claramente usava com todas as suas várias e prévias conquistas. Como se não bastasse ele usá-los sequer -- faço excepções, mas por norma qualquer “queridinha/doce/anjo” cai-me mal. Há qualquer coisa de depreciativo nisto, e muito mais quando o alvo é a amante coagida. Em suma, era enervante e distraía-me quase sempre. Sendo que o discurso não é a única foleirice da figura, de sua graça: Damien Sinclair, a.k.a. Lorde Sin. Haverá nome mais cliché para o herói de um bodice-ripper?...

De resto, não há muito a apontar. A Vanessa não foi heroína com quem me tivesse identificado muito, e digo isto mesmo sem ter a certeza do porquê, no entanto não é das piores; e o outro plot do livro, focado na relação aparentemente impossível dos irmãos de Damien e Vanessa, foi interessante, ainda que tenha muito pouco protagonismo.

No género do romance histórico é um medíocre.

Damien has never loved anyone. He starts falling in love with Vanessa and decides he doesn't want to be in love. Em "A Sedução", Nicole Jordan apresenta-nos outro cavalheiro da devassa e mundana liga dos cavalheiros mais perversa e infames de Inglaterra, sendo Damien Sinclair, Lorde Sin (=Pecado), como é conhecido devido à sua reputação duvidosa, um dos co-fundadores da dita liga, e uma jovem e bela viúva, cuja fortuna desaparecera e que, achando não ter mais nada a perder, aceita a escandalosa proposta de Lorde Sin, na esperança de salvar a sua família da ruína total.
E o que faz com que este libertino e a casta Lady Wyndham se encontrem?
Tudo começa com um infeliz acidente que incapacita Olivia, a irmã de Damien Sinclair (Lorde Sin). Com esse acidente, a reputação de Olivia é posta por terra, devido ao envolvimento de Lorde Rutherford, irmão de Vanessa Wyndham.
Damien procura vingar a sua querida irmã mais nova, através da destruição do seu sedutor, e consegue-o com sucesso, confiscando-lhe todos os seus bens numa malfadada aposta de jogo, na qual, o inexperiente Aubrey Rutherford perde, obviamente.

Ignorava as obras da autora até à leitura d'"A Paixão", livro do qual gostei bastante, mas admito que "A Sedução" suplantou a leitura anterior!
Aos que leram "A Paixão" antes d'"A Sedução", não se alarmem, pois embora pertencentes à mesma série, são livros distintos, e a ligação entre ambos é miníma, devido a escassas passagens que sugerem uma ligação.
Tal como referi "A Sedução" mostrou-se uma leitura extremamente fácil e rápida.
Dotada de uma linguagem acessível e aditiva, assim como as suas personagens bem idealizadas e estruturadas, que satisfazem o leitor com as suas fortes personalidades.
Devo elogiar a autora, pois conseguiu mostrar inovação num previsível romance histórico, adicionando algum drama, ciúme e uns amigos bem intencionados mas cujos métodos pouco ortodoxos proporcionam ao leitor momentos de bom riso, com os seus elaborados esquemas.
Uma leitura leve e romântica, perfeita para os mais sonhadores.

She brings her characters to life and lets to see into their lives. She also makes you see the places where she sets her stories. Ms. Jordan does a fine job of bring out all kinds of emotions in the reader; anguish, anger, love and a great caring for the lives of the characters that the reader has come to know. Considering the time this book was written Ms. Jordan writes some steamy love scenes that will leave you wanting more. So keep the tissues and ice water handy and enjoy this wonderful story.

I wasn't really impressed with Damien "Lord Sin" Sinclair when I first started reading about him. He is a libertine rake of the first order and probably what must noblemen were at this point in history. Like so many rich there isn't enough to keep their minds busy so they look for things and those things will almost always cause a scandal. It is long however that Damien begins to redeem himself. It takes his younger sister getting hurt, her reputation ruined to start to turn him around. Final step in his redemption is Vanessa Wynham. She comes to him to save her family from ruin and Damien makes her an outrageous proposition. He doesn't know it but he has set about his downfall. Damien shows that he is a caring, compassionate and very patient man. He loves his sister and will do whatever he can to help her get back on her feet. He has the capacity to love just one woman, there just hasn't been any woman that has kept his attention. It is sad that the only way to force Damien to really change is a life altering event and for Damien it is being shot in a duel. While recovering he is forced to look at his life and find a way to show Vanessa he is a changed man.

Vanessa is afraid of men and their amorous needs. Her husband hurt her both physically and emotionally. She is honorable and loyal as well as caring and compassionate. Like so many other women during this time there are few choices except to marry a rich husband and become mistress of her own household. Vanessa isn't looking for marriage even though it would save her mother and sisters. She went down that road once and doesn't want that pain and suffering again. She is hesitant accepting Damien proposal but she doesn't have any other choice. It is interesting watching her discover passion and her own power over the male species. Vanessa is also courageous and intelligent. Those traits are probably what draw Damien to her in the first place.(less)

Lord Damien Sinclair (Lord Sin) is a pleasure seeking skirt chaser who indulges in all sorts of debauchery along with his Lordly Hellfire League cohorts. I got it within the first few pages…truly I did, so repeating it at every turn of a page was completely unnecessary.

(view spoiler)[Vanessa Wyndham’s brother Aubrey is in debt to Sin and he’s also responsible for injuring Sin’s beloved sister Olivia. Sin is understandably outraged and seeking revenge in hand with feeling a healthy dose of the guilts for leaving Olivia while he’s off doing what he does so well in London.

Vanessa a widow and virgin in mind but not body (such a tired theme) agrees to the dual role of chaperone for Olivia and to become his mistress to clear her brother’s debt. Sin made the mistress offer offhand, once he’s over the shock that she agreed he adds that he will allow her to decide when and where it will happen…an obvious ploy the author has used since forcing Vanessa takes away from the very thing that makes up much of the book. Sin’s skill at seduction. The outcome was never ever in doubt. Perhaps it was me but I scanned over Sin’s teaching Vanessa the skills she needed to capture a benefactor and it was dishonest of him when he'd just decided to release her from their agreement (or had he decided to marry her? I can't recall and since I've passed the book on I can't look it up), either way it was distasteful and proceeded to pile information on top of what I already knew about him (and his friends) to the point of boredom. Then hit me over the head with it again (near the end) when his buddies reminisce over Sin’s unbroken record in the stamina marathon with the queen bee and her working bees. Gad I’m looking for more from this man than his legendary ability to lick, suck and smuck his way through every skirt in London. How really hard can that be anyway, he’s wickedly handsome, he’s titled, he's rich and he's idle. His only claim to his chosen lifestyle? His parents extremely unhappy marriage. I'm looking for a much deeper connection with this man. Sigh. And I sincerely wish authors didn’t find it necessary to divulge intimate bedroom details of ex-husbands or ex-boyfriends. It’s enough to know Vanessa has never climaxed, leave my imagination (it’s vivid I assure you) to figure out the rest. What’s more if Sin was so skilled he should have figured it all out by himself (without asking her direct) simply by snippets she revealed and her initial stiff reaction to his nearness. However, in every book there is a moment or two where a comment or an action or both is touching.

Read this book if you must but it’s not a keeper for me.

However I disliked Vanessa. I found her fake. I mean she agreed to be a mistress, then she refused to fill her part of the bargain...for how long..I think for month at least. I could have loved this so much more, 3 stars was being generous. I love a tortured hero but usually don't care for stories revolving around notorious rakes, so maybe I'm already biased and can't give it a fair review.

I liked Vanessa and understood what drove her choices, she was strong, outspoken, and had no problem standing up to Lord Sin. What I didn't understand and frankly found hard to believe (agreeing completely with another reviewer) is after she made the bargain to become Sin's mistress, she did not give herself to him for a long while, and he allowed it ("when you're ready, you'll come to me") What???
Yes, Vanessa had a loveless marriage, and although her husband took only his own pleasure, and sometimes hurt her, the fear she had in giving herself to Lord Sin didn't make sense, especially since she was no virgin and Sin repeatedly told her to trust him, that he would not hurt her. (that went on a bit too long)

I really could have enjoyed Lord Sin being a notorious rake, if the author wouldn't have placed SO much emphasis on it (like throughout the whole story). I much rather like when the rake's lifestyle is expressed briefly prior to his involvement with the heroine, and then the reform begins, however in this case Sin's vast knowledge on every whorehouse in London, his deviant friends and the club they had, the pleasures they indulged in from orgies, etc. was reiterated through almost the entire read. By the time he supposedly reformed, I had a terrible time believing it was even possible.

The love scenes were hot, and plenty (once they started) but they were always under Sin's tutelage as Vanessa was inexperienced, and normaly that's erotic in itself, but I had a hard time focusing on just the two of them without always having an image in the back of my mind of Sin with the countless other women he'd been with. I honestly couldn't enjoy this book at all. Not only was it badly phrased but the storyline made me cringe.

After being an ass in the beginning of the book. The hero was never able to redeem himself in my eyes. He degraded and abused the heroine.I understood that he was upset and hurt because the heroine's brother had all but ruiend his sister. But maybe if he was not busy being an absentee guardian, this situation could have been avoided entirely.

Desde que li o livro “ A Paixão” fiquei com curiosidade de ler voltar a ler algo da autora.
Devo dizer que fiquei extremamente satisfeita com a leitura deste, pois ando realmente numa fase de gostar bastante deste género de romances e este não foi excepção!!

Mal entrei no livro a história prendeu-me, deixando-me levar por este romance extremamente sensual e romântico! O inicio é um pouco fútil, mas depois torna-se cada vez mais denso. Nicole Jordan é mais uma autora de romances de época que descobri recentemente. As minhas apostas neste género têm-se revelado bastante satisfatórias e por isso, foi com algum entusiasmo que mergulhei na leitura deste A Sedução.
Confesso que para mim este género de leitura, é uma indulgência; isto porque são livros leves, que me permitem descansar a cabeça e deixar levar-me por um ambiente de romance e sensualidade. É este ambiente que permite uma leitura sem expectativas, sem grandes floreados e melhor que tudo, sem exigências. São livros que me servem o propósito de entretenimento e que me permitem passar umas boas horas, sem ter que analisar ao pormenor aquilo que estou a ler e reflectir em profundidade sobre aquilo que leio. É uma maneira de abrir os meus horizontes literários e poder descansar a mente com leituras menos exigentes.

Mais uma vez, fiz uma visita à sociedade londrina do século XIX, em que o deboche e a sensualidade parecem ser uma constante em tudo. De tal forma, que o libertino bonito e rico, não poderia faltar nesta história. Desta vez, o dito cujo é Damien Sinclair, mais conhecido como Lorde Sin - de facto, todo o seu estilo de vida poderia ser considerado como um pecado e por isso a sua alcunha é mais que apropriada.
Depois da morte dos seus progenitores, Damien fica encarregue da educação da sua irmã mais nova, Olivia. Este decide instalá-la no campo, com a companhia de criados e assim a consciência fica tranquila. Até ao momento em que recebe a notícia que a irmã, numa tentativa de rebeldia, sofre um acidente que a deixa paralisada do tronco para baixo.
É que a sua jovem irmã sentia-se presa a uma existência sem significado e deixou-se encantar pelo atraente Aubrey, que acabou por iludir a ingénua Olivia.
Damien jura vingança e promete levar Aubrey à ruína pessoal, como paga pelo que fez à sua irmã. Até que conhece Vanessa, irmã de Aubrey, que tenta convencer o infame Lord Sin a perdoar as dívidas do seu irmão insensato. Aqui está a vingança perfeita: Lord Sin faz um acordo com Vanessa. Esse acordo consiste no esquecimento das dívidas de Aubrey se Vanessa aceitar tornar-se sua amante. E todos nós sabemos o que isso significa para a reputação de uma senhora viúva na sociedade desses tempos.

Nicole Jordan conseguiu com este livro construir uma história com pés e cabeça, com divertimento, tragédia e muita sensualidade. Tem uma escrita muito fluída e coerente, pelo que as páginas passam por nós sem termos consciência. A sua ideia começou muito bem, com a tragédia da Olivia e o problema da sua recuperação, mas à medida que fomos avançando no enredo, a autora acabou por dar mais importância à quantidade de cenas sensuais, do que a qualidade - a segunda é sempre, em qualquer circunstância, melhor que a primeira - o que ultimamente foi o responsável por não ter conseguido apreciar de melhor forma a obra.
Apesar de tudo, a autora criou um enredo interessante e umas personagens igualmente cativantes. Embora tivesse gostar de ver mais desenvolvimento nas mesmas, aquilo que a autora mostrou foi o suficiente para criar empatia e para sentir simpatia pelos protagonistas e pelos personagens secundários.

Tenho pena que a autora não tenha explorado de forma mais significativa a história de Aubrey e de Olivia: foi tudo muito apressado e embora sendo eles um casal secundário, mereciam uma atenção mais dedicada. Senti que a autora queria apenas cortar pontas soltas e por isso, sobressaiu algum desleixo no tratamento destas personagens.
Quanto aos personagens principais, não posso dizer que esteja desiludida, mas também não estou surpreendida. Foi um bom romance, tirando o pormenor que já referi acima, e deu para me pôr a sorrir.

Em suma, Nicole Jordan não me trouxe nada de novo ao mundo dos romances de época, mas conseguiu manter-me entretida por umas boas horas. Mais importante que tudo, contou uma história com final feliz, que confesso, sabe sempre bem ler.
Este é o tipo de livro que deve ser lido sem esperar que ele seja uma obra de arte, mas sim como doce entretenimento. Conseguiu alcançar o seu propósito, mas não me conseguiu surpreender. (less)

There is no other way to say it....this book is HOT, HOT, HOT! A friend recommended it to me, saying it was some of the "steamiest" yet emotional books out there....I must say after spending all day reading, I agree wholeheartedly! Only "Passion" by Lisa Valdez rivals this book in this regard.

At it's core, this is a "reformed rake" story. I am an absolute sucker for this type of hero and story line, so this was absolutely "my cup of tea".

Damien Sinclair, aptly nicknamed "Sin" is the consummate rake. He lives a life of excess, mostly of the "flesh". His exploits with women are legendary and he DOES NOT believe in love. Vanessa Wyndham is a widow who has never known passion, and believes herself incapable of such.

Vanessa agrees to become Damien's mistress to keep him from ruining her family financially (Damien is out to avenge his sister Olivia whom Vanessa's brother Aubry wronged)! Confused? It is actually a very straight forward plot that captures you right from the start.

The first half of this book could be categorized as Damien's PURSUIT and the second half as Damien's RETREAT. His seduction of Vanessa was absolutely mesmerizing. She didn't have a chance! Damien's "goodness" shows through and he is so easy to fall in love with. Then it's almost like he turns a switch. As his heart becomes more involved and his attachment to Vanessa grows, he literally "runs" away. Emotionally and at times physically to escape the scary feelings she evokes in him. His "ah ha" moment is truly memorable and how he goes about wooing her back is the "ultimate romantic gesture". I loved it.

Now for the "spice" factor. This is a erotic novel....not erotica, but certainly a higher level of sensuality than almost anything I've read. I loved it. With Damien's background and experiences, this was never going to be a "PG" book, and I felt the sensuality moved the plot forward and never became distasteful or overdone.

The secondary romance, although not fully developed, was sweet and satisfying. I recommend this book highly!

First impressions are so important, and as such, were very interesting to the characters within this book. Both Damien and Vanessa share a common quirk- loyalty, family loyalty. While Damien is a charming rake, his boldness is only outshone by his love for his sister, Olivia, who was paralyzed by an accident that lay on Vanessa's brother Audrey's head. No doubt Vanessa is a woman to admire, coming to aid her mother and younger two sisters in rescuing them from loosing their family home which Audrey had gambled away- to Damien. While Vanessa may be willing to do anything to save her family, Damien is just as willing to do anything to ruin it. Both character's stubbornness is answered by breaking the impasse by the shocking proposal set by Damien for Vanessa to act as his mistress, thereby ruining Audrey's family and allowing them to keep their home.

Overall, the plot was fairly simple, centering around the actions of Audrey and Olivia. Despite how simple the story seemed, the basis of it's makeup lay at the emotional interplay between the two characters, focusing on the fact that Damien fought tooth and nail against the idea of falling in love with Vanessa.

Truly, I have nothing bad to say about this book. The pacing was very good, and I mostly admire how Jordan never once had "needless" scenes- every action within the story went towards progressing the plot. I also adored how the author constructed the hero. Unlike many other romances in which the hero in labeled a rake and often they truly don't act as such, with this story, Damien was a rake without question. His actions, both past and present, were very self-involved.

Often times, his disregard for Vanessa, after the start of their physical relationship, was absolutely retched. And yet, the heroine was written fabulously. Vanessa's character was absolutely one of my favorites from Jordan- despite being selfless and caring for her family, she endured whatever she had to from Damien in order to survive. She was not weak by any means, yet she did not sulk in her situation.

I also was very impressed with the idea that Jordan wrote the story in such a way that it was believable. Vanessa having been a widow, I could legitimately see her becoming a mistress to save her family. Along these same lines, I admired the fact that Damien did not rush headlong into the sexual aspects of his relationship with Vanessa at the beginning. I feel that if Damien had disregarded Vanessa's fear and uncertainty- rather than waiting for her to become accustom to the idea of her new role- I would've probably not enjoyed this character at all!

However, despite all my admoration for this novel, I can't quite bring myself to note it at a five star, simply because towards the end I really felt Jordan drug the story on a bit longer than necessary, especially the last several pages of the final chapter and epilogue. Still, not a waste of time at all! Another good read, no doubt!(less)

I liked the buildup of the relationship between the hero and heroine. I felt like the author actually showed the readers that they loved each other for reasons other than just attraction. Damien treated Vanessa fairly well considering what her brother did to his sister. In his denial of loving her, he hurt her pretty badly and began to treat her insensitively, but in the end he was willing to do anything to win her back.

This book is steamy from the first page on. Never read any comperable. But beside the love scenes I was a little bit disappointed about the way of cool behavior by the hero. I also doubt that it was possible for a woman round 1810 to enter a sin club for "sightseeing". If you are looking for sex scenes only, read it. If you want a romance on top, pass it!

If you like your rakes jaded and your romance hot, this book is for you. The heroine agrees to be the hero's mistress to save her family, but soon learns that being a mistress has certain…er…attractions. Unfortunately, she's fallen in love with the hero, and he isn't sure he can ever love. It takes all her will to bring him around.

Compreendo que muitas pessoas não darão tamanha classificação a este livro, tem algumas repetições, a linguagem não é a habitual e a história por si é muito levezinha, mas eu tenho que dar, porque apesar disto tudo, entreteve-me muito e é muito bom para desenjoar de outro tipo de livros com emoções mais fortes.

My favorite part about reading this book is how caught-up I got in the story. I really FELT the emotions along with the characters. I do wish the Big Turn Around had drug out a little longer and with more detail, but I was still satisfied with the ending.
