I was given this book for a review by the author and I promise it will be honest. This book was interlining. The plot was different, most of the characters were relateable and the romance was steamy.
The story starts off with Anora Benson who is just like every teenage girl, wants to be popular and have the super hot boyfriend. When we start off the story I found Anora mildly irritating because she was so shallow and just let people walk all over her. Personally I'm very assertive I tell people...more

I went into this book knowing that I would be writing a review for it. This said, at the beginning of reading the story I read while analyzing but as the story unfolded I lost myself within it. I eventually went back over the book again and read with a mind for critique. These are my thoughts.

The characters and the world that they belong to are incredibly believable. The characters and their lives (outside of the supernatural) are extremely relatable. I felt as if I could have been Anora. She wa...more

Emily Goodwin did an amazing job in writing her first book in "The Guardian Legacies series Unbound". If being a teenage girl in High School isn't hard enough, try being a teenage girl who happens to also be a medium and a witch in High School. Well Emily Goodwin takes us on Anora Benson's journey. This story will definitely tickle your paranormal senses. "Unbound" has everything we would want and expect with a few extras in a kick ass paranormal book. Witches, spells, Ghosts, ferocious wolf-lik...more

I love the characters:
Anora: she sees ghost, feels other people feelings and has put up a mental wall and try to be normal. She has to lie everyday about what she see`s and feel. Everyone thinks she is weird and even her twin brother doesn`t believe her.

Ethan: a (HOT) 4th generation demon hunter. He never though he would ever be able to share who he is, what he does or have a normal relationship with anyone.

That`s until Anora`s Great aunts dies and leaves everything she owns to her and she disco...more

Let me start out by saying that I reached out to the author asking her if she would allow me to read her book in exchange for an honest review. I was worried it wouldn't meet my expectations which has been the case with a few other books lately. But Emily Goodwin definitely went above and beyond what I was hoping for. I'm not going to say too much about the plot in fear of ruining it for everyone.

I will admit that the very beginning of this book kind of bored me. I didn't care a...more

When I started reading this book I knew nothing about it, I hadn't even read the blurb. I guess I got really lucky but this was great, I honestly couldnt put it down and sat up until 3am just trying to see what was going to happen next.

Other than guessing in the first couple of chapters that Anora saw ghosts I honestly didn't see the direction the book was taking.

I have read books about young girls who discover they are witches, books with demons and I've read books that mix both of those elemen...more

Unbound is an excellent beginning to what seems to be a very promising series. Quick witted Anora Benson has never led a normal existence but after the death of her eccentric Great-Aunt Estelle, life as she knows it seems to take a turn from strange to extremely paranormal. She soon starts to realize that her Aunts eccentric ways may not have been just the senile ramblings of an elderly woman but actual knowledge and truth. When the mysterious Ethan Bailey walks into her life Anora learns that n...more

Okay I have to say this was really good book. Super strong solid story that was riveting and captivating.
You can’t help but root for Anora and sigh because of Ethan. The story keeping you turning the pages wiling yourself to read faster so you can find out what happen.
I loved that the book held all the important pieces that make such a good read. Love, mystery, growth, fear, danger, jealousy, loss, courage. The plot unfolds beautifully. The story unique with its own twist.
It isn’t predictable b...more

Unbound by Emily Goodwin was a truly great and heart rending story about a girl named Anora. She always felt different from most people in school while growing up. After the death of her great aunt strange things start happening to her. After breaking up with er boyfriend Mike she meets a very good looking older guy by the name of Ethan. After almost getting killed by a spirt in a host body. They end up finding out family secrets about each other and that brings them closer together. Beware I do...more

Anora has never had many friends. Of course it does not help when you can see ghost. So much for being normal. As hard as she tries, she can not pretend to be normal.
After the death of her aunt Estelle, things start to get even worse. Anora discovers she is the is a witch and people are trying to kill her. Slowly, Anora discovers her true powers. I was glad to see that Anora had to learn to use her powers.
Enters her mysterious Ethan, which also happens to be a demon hunter. They hit it off right...more

Sighhh.... I am so undecided if I love or hate this book. Okay, hate might be to strong of a word. I like the relationships and character development. I like the general plot of story. I disliked how much filler was in the book. I think the first 60% of the book took to long. A lot of unnecessary boring descriptive useless scenes. I found myself skimming through paragraphs to get to the point. What killed me was all that effort should have been spent on the end of the book. As soon as everything...more

5 stars hands down! This book and the way it was written is absolutely amazing! I have to say, at first there were a few words I had to look up in the dictionary, but other than like, 3-4 words, and it was riveting! The way the story had its ups and downs, the rhythm of it was music and an absolute masterpiece. I had goose bumps as the story came to its climax. Would I recommend this? ABSOLUTELY! This book had me more involved than Twilight in the character, and more enthralled than Marked (A Ho...more

If I had one word to describe this book it would be REPETITIVE. Anora basically repeats everything at least 3 times that has happened to her. So you read the same damn thing over at least 3 times.

The plot was boring, opaque and nauseating.

When Anora finds a deserted barn in the wood somewhere after going off with her boyfriend Ethan. Of course there are demons after her and ghosts so where else should she go.

Its exactly like the plot of a cheesy horror movie and Anora seems like the stupid gi...more

This is another great book from Emily Goodwin. It's fun, it's exciting, and I can't wait to find out what happens next. I have no doubt that the next book will be up to my high expectations.
My only complaint is that the book feels unfinished, which is simply a risk with ebooks, I find. I completely understand that even when published by a large company, with multiple people doing numerous rereads, there is still a likelihood of typos slipping through. With ebooks, there tend to be more errors, a...more

This is one great Paranormal Romance. This story is about a young witch who never knew she was a witch till her great aunt dies, that's where alot of things starts to appear and try to kill her. I jumped so many times thinking OMG I would have ran away screaming in fear. Thank God she has a hot demon hunter as her boyfriend (drool) I know I would feel safe with him around as well :D. Seeing ghost is one thing but having demons appear and try to kill you all the time, yeah I would have been hidin...more

I have chosen this book only becuase of the synopis. It sound good and frankly i do not care that it is a YA book. I am reading the ebook. On the first page of the book, you are told that there is something strange going on, she sees a man standing and the horse shied etc. for the next many pages, it was meeting boyfriend, having sleepover with some friends, going to a party, dont like the party etc. The writing style was that of an 17 year old. yes i am aware it is YA and the character is 17 bu...more

When I saw that Emily Goodwin was giving a few copies of Unbound out in exchange for honest reviews, I jumped at the chance because it just seemed so interesting. I'm glad I got to read Unbound because I really enjoyed it. It is intriguing all the way through and is a wonderful take on demon hunting. Unbound is a story of a girl who must learn to embrace her destiny in order to save herself and the ones she loves.

Right off the bat, I loved Anora. She was smart and witty and most of all brave and...more

Thank you to the author for providing an ecopy of this book...

Cover: It's alright...

Anora:

All her life she felt that she was somehow different... Because of this, she believed that she was a freak and then she had low self-confidence... That's why it was a big relief for her when she knew what she really was... She accepted her identity whole-heartedly and she treated this as an explanation why she always felt that way...

Ethan:

He seems to be a good reader of facial expressions, actions or emotio...more

its not easy to impress me when it comes to book (not that its easy in other things) i need a decent grammar decent amount of romance and oh yea if its paranormal it has to really be paranormal not just any witch or vampire or werewolf!!!
well let's write the review:
Anora Benson is like any other high school senior and its just it! nothing else is norma bout her... she sees ghost, they try to contact with her and she has visions and premonitions of what might be her own death!!!and has a douche...more

I only docked 1 star because some of the stuff involving this girls parents I found really hard to believe. Maybe they really are that "out there", but seeing as they are a doctor and a college professor, I wouldnt put money on it.

I really enjoyed this book. I am a sucker for a strong female lead, and Anora had that is spades. She is a bad ass witch who isnt afraid to do what is necessary to kick some ass. I look forward to reading the next book in this series.

2 stars <=== since I managed to finish the entire thing (with lots of skimming tho)
This was just plain old boring, the characters were cookie cutter flat and the storyline was VERY predictable.
Anora grates my nerves, during the first few chapters I already had the inkling that we wont be getting along and I was right to say the least. She's a powerful witch, super rich, has a good family, has a twin brother, has an modelesque beau, owns horses and whines a lot <=== yep, insert sarcasm here...more

I wasn't sure if I'd like this book, but I decided I'd read it and see. I was amazed at the story. I really like this book. It is a great adventure for Anora. I loved the characters, the story line and the action. Her bravery was awesome. Well written. I recommend this book. I do believe you'll love it. I can't wait to read the books that follow.

Anora is annoying. I have tried to overlook my dislike of her (and take into account this book takes place during her senior year of high school to help explain away some of the obnoxious behaviors of a few characters) but honestly I can't do it anymore, I made it to 70% complete and refuse to waste anymore of my life on this one.

Aside from the editing and somewhat rushed aspects of the plotline, I truly enjoyed this novel. The premise is interesting, the characters inviting (and thankfully not whiny), and the writing is very descriptive without being boring. I eagerly anticipate the next installment.

Kinda wish things were developed further because jumping from subjects rather quick throws the story off. There was a lot of grammar issues and she loves to explain taking care of the horses a lot. This character trusts people way to quick, one sentence she greets them and the next she tells them shes a witch. Its the little things.
Skye Louise
As much as I loved Emily's previous books, this one just didn't grab me as much. I found hard to get into the story, wasn't until about 1/3rd of the way in it started to pick up. The storyline was good, had some loveable characters and even a good twist about who the big evil was. (Gotta say I was gunning for Amanda) I think it was just the way it was written that deterred me. There were quite a few grammar issues in the book, and some parts were often repeated by the main character. At times th...more

It was a long time since I've read this book, but from what I remember it was really amazing. Many points I've just fallen apart because this author just plays with your emotions.

I loved this book. I love everything that Emily does really. She has a great story telling voice. I am so obsessed with this book and Reaper that I made a pinterest board for it. Yep, I'm a book nerd.
