What's A Ghoul To Do by Victoria Laurie was quite the cute little paranormal mystery. Not a lot of romance but enough to wet your taste buds, a bit of paranormal and quite a bit of mystery made this light and fluffy. This is one of those books where the cover art is a bit deceiving. Just looking at it I assumed that it would be a light fluffy chick lit type paranormal romance. Nope, twas wrong and gladly so.

I've greatly enjoyed Victoria Laurie's book about Abby Cooper and that's why I was curious about this series. It has some similarities to Abby's story but I didn't enjoy it as much.
M.J., her partner Gilley, and their client, the wealthy, de-lish Dr. Steven Sable, are at his family's lodge, where his grandfather allegedly jumped to his death from the roof-although Sable says it was foul play. But the patriarch's isn't the only ghost around. The place is lousy with souls, all with something to...more

This is a light-hearted paranormal romance featuring M.J., a psychic ghostbuster, her very camp assistant Gilly who's afraid of ghosts, and her wise-cracking parrot Doc. Her studly client, Dr. Sable, has a house haunted by his grandfather and his mistress. Supposedly Dr. Sable is Argentinian who was educated in Germany and only speaks English in amusing mistakes. Okay, that wore thin after a chapter or two. I'm not even going to rant about the fact that if he's translating directly from German, ...more

This was darn cute. I enjoyed it as a bit of fluff and am happy to see a new installment due in March. I liked this new series slightly better than her "psychic eye" series, in which a medium plays private detective (or PI, get it?, yuk yuk.) Her new heroine, MJ, uses her gift for communicating with the dead to work as a "ghostbuster" clearing houses of souls who need to pass on. A bit too heavy handed with the love scenes but a satisfying harlequin style romance is inclu...more

I was so excited to read this, as I love the author's Abby Cooper Psycic Eye books. Unfortunately, the only thing that pulled this up from 1 star is Doc the pet bird. There was far too much set up, like the whole first half, before I felt like we were into any kind of mystery. And I just did not buy any of the forgetting of English slang, struggle with words. It just sounded so fake, and really got to be distracting. I don't plan to read any others if this really does turn into a series.

This is the first of the "ghost hunter mystery" series. I really liked it, she has a great voice. The characters are funny but real. This is the first mystery book I've read so this was a nice genre change for me.
Loosely MJ (our ghost hunter) takes a job from Steven, trying to figure out why his grandfather has died. It was ruled as suicide but Steven thinks his father may've had a hand in his grandfathers death. Guily the gay side kick is always along for humor.

Book one of the Psychic Eye Mystery Series. I liked it. It's a nice easy read. More mystery than romance so hard-core romance-ers...not so much. Plus the story line is light in that there is not alot of subplots and misdirection...I thought it was obvious who dunnit but they did surprise me in the end. That I really liked. It's well worth the time and I did enjoy the distraction from the hard-core romance and science I've been reading lately.

I really enjoyed the author's writing style and characters. And while I am personaly lean toward the 'non-beliver' side ghosts, I found all the info on ghostbusting/mediuming stuff quite interesting. The author presented in an interesting and entertainging way that was not over the top or cheesy. (It was a little like that ghosthuntery show with Jennifer Love-Hewitt). I look forward to reading more of he Ghost Hnter Mysteries.

This is a witty book with a gay sidekick, matchmaking coffee shop owner who hooks up M.J. with her client who is hansome; who has problems with american catch phrases and a mystery with a dead Grandfather who seems to be haunting his mountain lodge. With parts that remind me of a "Gost Hunters" episode with a medium thrown in and a dash of romance this is a good book to read. I look forward to the next one.

The first in a new series by the author of the Psychic Eye books, and if you enjoy those, you'll like this too. This series is about a clairvoyant ghost hunter living in Boston who is virtually indistinguishable from the heroine of the other series, a psychic living in Detroit. Despite gaping holes in the Nancy Drewish plot, it's a light and undemanding weekend read.

OMG I loved this book! I laughed out loud in so many places, mostly over Dr. Steven Sables abuse of the English language. Definately pick this up if you're into the paranormal at all, and if you like mysteries. Great book. Can't wait for the next one. I also now want to check out her Psychic Eye series. Victoria Laurie, welcome to my favorites list!

I love this author and began reading her other series, Psychic Eye. I love the saucy, sarcastic wit of the main character. The only thing is that both series are sooo alike with the mystery, the same main characters and overall feel of the books, but I guess that's what makes them great too. Why mess with a good thing?

Everyone.
This book is like Scooby doo in chick lit form. Only Scooby is an African Grey Parrot. It is cute. The story line has lots of funny bits. It is easy to read. Dh says oh wow that took you only three days to read. That is pretty good for me since I have a nearly 9 month old.

This book was only okay. If I have a hard time finding something else to read I may pick up another book in the series, based on it not sucking hard core, and being familiar with the plot line.

MJ and her best friend Gil are ghostbusters. Dr. Steven Sable hires them to find out the truth about his grandfather's death. Dr. Sable doesn't have a good grasp of the English language...

I owned this one but thinking of selling it to the half price book store b/c of the way this author acts with reviewers that don't give her 5 stars so thanks but no thanks I will pass.

This first book in the ghosthunter series was very entertaining! I love the main character but I just can't seem to think why anyone would want to cart around a parrot everywhere!

Let's hear it for popcorn books! This was a fun mystery with some ghosties thrown in for good measure. Of course I was sick at the time but I enjoyed the hell out of it.

Another paranormal type cozy. I read it because it's almost Halloween. Otherwise, ghostbusting isn't really my thing.
