It has been a while since I have reviewed a book. Mostly I would much rather just get right into another novel, rather than waste my time posting a review I doubt will be read by many people. However, it's very difficult to leave a 5 star rating for "Carry the Flame" and not leave a review explaining why I thought this was such a great read.

While the story bogged down tremendously in the middle - so much so that I almost stopped reading it - the story redeemed itself with the climax. The biggest criticism I have is too much religion that seems to have no real bearing on the story.

A fantastic thriller. Mad Max with depth and dark, well executed themes. If you want to read a thriller that is both literate and suspenseful, then pick up Carry the Flame. This is a sequel but reads very well as a standalone.
