I'm a difficult critic, who doesn't have any compunctions with stabbing an undeserving text. However, I am quite pleased with this book. The 107 Rules of Money, each taking a couple of pages, are easy to absorb and fun to read. I've read the entire book in one sitting!

The author says he is wealthy, but doesn't brag or flaunt it (in fact, that's Rule 106). Throughout the book, you have a feeling of being together with a compassionate and knowledgeable friend who is sharing with you their journey

"The Rules of Money Expanded Edition: How to Make It and How to Hold on to It" by Richard Templar is another of his books that has been re-released as an expanded edition in this series. It was originally entitled "The Rules of Wealth." I really liked some of the earlier new editions, such as "The Rules of Work" and "The Rules of Life." However, I couldn't get into this book quite as much as I did with those. Maybe because when it comes to money, the "rules" seemed a bit forced at times, and eve ...more

Deceptively Simple!

Rules of Money is not a get-rich-quick book but a series of short one-page chapters with some advice on how to build wealth slowly and when you get it, how to keep it. It's tough to write a review of a book that is broken down into so many bits & pieces, but I will point out a few bits that really impressed me.

First is the concept of shopping! Everyone loves to shop. But it may not be the best to go for the cheapest. Templar's book emphasizes Value over Price. Something

Published in 2007, this book was inaccurate from its very beginning. Apart from platitudes and common sense ideas ("If the investment feels bad, don't do it" or "Trust only real experts" or my all-time favorite "To keep you money, don't spend it" ... DUH!), the book spends a great deal of time explaining that, to be wealthy you must invest in stocks, become a top-drawer salesman/negotiator, make yourself so valuable that you can name your own salary, and otherwise be the kind of robber-baron ent ...more

I am such a huge fan of this author's conversational, but informative writing style. He doesn't sugarcoat anything and gets straight to the point with his audience. This quick read really gets you thinking about money in ways you probably never have. With personal anecdotes and other real-life examples, this is the kind of book you'll refer back to time and time again during the different points in your life.

Upbeat wealth-making manual

The staggering number of lottery tickets sold each year indicates that millions of people want to be wealthy but aren’t necessarily willing to put in the required effort. Unless your lotto numbers come up or your father is a billionaire who hands you big bucks, instant prosperity is a fantasy. The road to riches actually is paved with hard work, long hours and a bit of luck. Moreover, says Richard Templar, wealthy people follow a basic set of principles that many other

Am actually reading this book from the Barns & Noble book store and it been a while since I went there.
This book is cool. The author was patient enough to present all his thoughts from the basics. There are no assumptions in this book. You either do it or not.
