Tom Foster has his life planned out, and he’s systematically pursuing his goals. At twenty-two, he’s been organist and choirmaster at The Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd for three years, he’s working on his doctoral thesis, and he's beginning a secondary career performing in concert. There is no room in his schedule for romance... until Noah Webster, a gorgeous green...more

Let's meet Tom & Noah the latest musical version of George & Mike who're from the Avondale books, the only difference are that these character are in their early 20's. We still have the same bland personality traits that Etienne seems so fond to introducing, and the same words that each character seems to love to say, "promises, promises", "fool". Every couple that meets just needs to be mognamious so we get to wait anxiously for their AIDS test so when it's negative they can lose the co...more

This story was hard to rate as there were times I couldn't see myself finishing it and at others I was totally engrossed in it. I really wasn't sure I wanted to keep reading after the first few chapters (view spoiler)[(the author's descriptions of overweight women felt just plain mean to me) plus it was total insta-love, we're together forever let's do our wills and health papers right away (hide spoiler)] but in the end I'm glad I did. Overall it was an entertaining story which left me wanting...more

Tom and Noah have been mentioned in many of Etienne’s books and not just in this series either, so I was happy to learn that we would finally get their story and Etienne doesn’t let us down.

Noah goes to the Good Shepherd to audition for the choir and ends up being Tom’s page turner and roommate; it’s not long before they fall in love. This story is about their meeting, their love, their life and also the p...more

Etienne has a very different writing style than I am accustomed to reading. That doesn’t make it better or worse, just different. His writing is very spare and fast moving in some places, and unexpectedly detailed in others. For example, a potentially contentious Thanksgiving dinner is over in five or six sentences, but it takes pages of detailed turn-by-turn directions to get to Grandma’s house.

LOVE TURNS THE PAGE is both a character-driven novel and a plot-driven story. While the writing is mi...more

Love Turns the Page (Avondale Stories #7)

Etienne is one of the first authors I read in the m/m genre, so of course I will say he is a favourite of mine. This story is the 7th book in the Avondale series, and I love that you get to see all the different characters from his other books it’s like seeing old friends.

Love Turns the Page is a romance book between two young men, we meet Tom who is an organist and choirmaster and is working on getting his doctorate and Noah who walks in to attend the...more

Etienne has carefully crafted a story revealing how two performers meet, fall in love, and begin their careers—despite problems with homophobic and super-religious family members.

Tom is organist and choirmaster at an Episcopal Church. He's also finishing work on his doctorate and building a reputation as a concert artist.

Noah walks into the church one evening to audition for the choir and winds up become Tom's page-turner for his next concert. They ultimately begin to build a life together, but...more

Read about 6 chapters (or maybe more) and decided that I couldn't accept the fact that although the MC's were sleeping together, and supposedly 'loved' each other, there wasn't one mention of the 'L' word whenever they had sex ('cos that's what it was, not love-making), and as Tom was such a cold, unfeeling character (in my eyes anyway), I couldn't see how he would ever say those 3 little words to Noah and honestly mean them. Noah did at least appear to be more 'human', and not so robotic as Tom...more

This is the 7th book in the Avondale series and I have enjoyed it. I actually started this series with the 5th book (Magic Fingers) and it stirred my interest in the others. Since then I haven't looked back and have become a fan of the series. I am hooked. Etienne's writing style is different. You will not find pages and pages of angst or unrelenting sex scenes in this series, but what you will find is characters who do 'life' and they do it very well.

The characters in the Avondale series do lif...more

Tom Foster is the organist and choirmaster for The Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd. He seems to have life figured out, he knows just what he wants and is striving to reach his goals. One of which is performing concerts - which are amazing in themselves! Through all this he never planned to fall in love, but than love doesn't let you choose when it'll happen...

In comes Noah Webster, running from his Southern Baptist family, and his homophobic...more

I want to say that I loved this book, but there were a few things that kept me from crossing the line from 'like' to 'love'.

The characters are good, but they seemed sort of lifeless. They fell in love in a matter of 3 days and then they just moved along through their relationship. There was a lack of passion from them. They were young when they met (19 and 22) and I felt like there should have been more to the love they showed.

The descriptions were lengthy and I found myself skipping them becaus...more

I loved this newest installment of Etienne's Avondale series. I have wanted to know Tom & Noah's story since first meeting them in some of the other books. I look forward to the next book!
