I learned a few things from this book! The deciduous forest described here is in the Adirondack Mountains, near where I live, so I found it especially interesting. The author starts with the canopy, then moves to the understory, the middle/shrub layer, and the ground layer, detailing the plants, animals, and insects that live there.
