As Good as She Imagined: The Redeeming Story of the Angel of Tucson, Christina-Taylor Green
Christina-Taylor Green was beautiful, precocious and popular, a member of her elementary school’s student council and the only girl on her Little League team. Born on 9/11/2001, it was perhaps no surprise that she harbored aspirations of becoming a politician—thus her presence at the political rally that fateful day in Tucson last January. Congressman Gabrielle Giffords wa...more

When I received my advanced readers copy I knew this would be a difficult read. I expected the heart-wrenching story of a life cut short.
It is so much more.
For a brief moment the Greens allow America to be part of their family. I felt privileged as Roxanna and John (as well as friends and family) shared their life. It is in this `backstory' where I become connected to the entire family, not through tragedy but through their everyday living.

Grab a box of tissues when you pick up the latest offering from Jerry B Jenkins. Jerry guides a grieving mother, Roxanna Green; through the story of her daughter Christina-Taylor Green and the day she was shot and killed. At the beginning we see a brief history of the family and in depths look at who Christina–Taylor really was. An imaginative, fun girl who had everything to live for and at her young age was already doing good for others. We go through that day, January 8, 2011 when little Chris...more
On January 8, 2011, Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords met with Tucsonians at a political rally at a Safeway store. Dozens of people were shot and six people were killed by a lone, hateful shooter. Nine year old Christina-Taylor Green was one of those instantly killed. "As Good As She Imagined" is a moving and inspirational book about this remarkable child's life. Roxanna Green and co-author Jerry B. Jenkins have truly captured the essence of Christina-Taylor Green, an extraordinary little girl wh...more
This is an amazing book. The true story of the 9 year old girl who was killed in the Tucson tragedy last January. I was pulled in from the very first and was enthralled throughout.
The book tells of how Christina-Taylor’s parents met, fell in love and their life before Christina was born. There is a lot of back story in this book, but it really is necessary.
I found it quite interesting to hear of Roxanna and John’s story, also of the birth of their first child Dallas. The way they moved to diff...more

This was an excellent account of Christina-Taylor Green's life and tragic death as a result of the shootings in Tucson Arizona January 8, 2011. It was told by her Mother with numerous memories from her father and insights as well. No book can adequately describe the magnitude of the loss of a child, but Roxanna Green provides the reader with a look at how the family dealt with the shooting that touched a nation. Christina-Taylor was a marvelous young person and in her way has touched the world....more
When the Tucson shooting occurred one year ago tomorrow, I was horrified when I heard that a 9-year-old child had been killed. The next morning I heard Roxanna Green's incredibly brave phone interview she gave Fox News's Gretchen Carlson and was so moved by the story of little Christina-Taylor. I was excited to read this book and was not disappointed. Christina-Taylor was an amazing little girl and this book more than does justice to the story of who she was, what she loved, and to her sad murd...more
"On January 8th, 2011 I was living in Norfolk, Virginia, a good 2200 miles from my "home" of Tucson, Arizona.
When I heard of the tragedy that took 6 lives from us that January morning, I was so terribly sad. I wanted nothing more than to fly back west and support the city and people that I loved.
Upon returning to Tucson in Spring on 2011, I started volunteering with a non profit called Homicide Survivors Inc, which supports families of murder victims. A friend of mine was murdered in May of 20...more
I can not say that I enjoyed this book; after all, it is a story about a young girl whose life was tragically ended at only 9 years old. However, the telling of the story is really good by her mom and dad and some other people of her family. I really felt sad for their loss. The mother tells most of the story and is a wonderful tribute to her daughter. My prayers go out to this family. May God bless all of you in a special way I encourage you to read this book!

This is the story of the youngest victim of the January, 2011 Tucson shootings. At times a very difficult book to read, which is to be expected with the death of an energetic bubbly 9year old. But it is also about belief and redemption and trust in God. It caused me to have goose bumps several times as I was reading it.

Ironic that I was reading this the week of the 2013 Boston Marathon, when another child was killed by senseless violence. This is Christina-Taylor's mother's story of who they were as a family, what Christina-Taylor was like, and how they have coped.
A heart-wrenching mother's account of a child lost. And our country has missed out on a future citizen that would have really made a difference.
What a delightful little girl Christina-Taylor was. All who knew her must miss her so so much. I do, and I never met her, other than in the pages of her mother's book.
God bless the Green family for doing such a wonderful job during her short life.

It is obvious that Roxanna is a grieving parent. That said, I didn't like the book as much as I thought I would. I do applaud the fact that she doesn't mention the shooter by name and refuses to acknowledge him. The book might have been better is she wrote it five years later, rather than less that 12 months after the tragedy.
