Was particularly drawn in by the author's ability to express emotional relationships between characters.
THe story concerns a young man living in the aftermath of Ireland's Treaty with England which made southern Ireland a free state and kept the north under the British.. The story also introduces a young woman who will eventually form the key of romantic aspirations of the young man and also his father.
