Rachel Gibson, why do you always fall just short of perfect for me? You had me in the palm of your hand, loving everything about this book...for 95% of the way. And then you go and blow it by making the ILY's come out all of a sudden, and then spend no time developing them. And then when you could tie things all up and answer some of my questions with a nice juicy epilogue...I get nothing. I know you should leave the reader wanting more, but jeez, you gotta give me something.:(

So yes, I was ador More...

This is our inaugural Rory Curtain Review at Young Adult Anonymous.

This is one of the most enjoyable romances I've read. It was funny, it was modern, and MOTHER OF GOD, it was HAWT. Navy SEAL Vince Haven is so hot, I ended up pumping my bestie, who was in the Navy until he was kicked out for being gay (fuckery), over dinner for info on just how swoon-worthy he should be. I am nothing if not thorough!

Me: Are Navy SEALs that hot?
Him: Oh yeah.
Me: Okay, how hot? Are they hotter than regular Navy guy

Rescue Me is one of those feel good, comfort books that are pretty standard coming from author, Rachel Gibson. It is part of a series, but can definitely be read as a stand-alone. So if you have read RG before, and I have read most of her books, that is exactly what you get with Rescue Me- a charming and OOOh so sexy read.

There was no villain, no big mystery or twist, but I was still hooked because of the characters and the fast moving story. It was sweet with an H&h that had More...

I've been a big fan of Rachel Gibson's books for a long while. The last few have been questionable and this one I had a very difficult time getting into and staying with it. Sadly, “Rescue Me” is a bumpy ride that goes nowhere fast and doesn’t measure up to the ones that came before! I find it difficult to express such negative remarks towards this author’s work after having been the recipient of so many of her pleasurable reads over the years. I’m very appreciativ More...

This was an EXTREMELY slow moving, slow starting book. Actually it moved so slowly without much point to anything that I nearly didn't finish it. I needed to prod myself into finishing. And for one of Ms Gibson's book's, that is nearly unheard of. The synopsis makes this sound like a fun light read, when in fact this had a lot to do with post traumatic stress disorder on Vince's part and unresolved daddy issues on Sadie's part.

As for this being romantic---I don't think that this book was. They More...

Small-town romances are popular right now. Unfortunately, the setting is one of my least favorite for a romance novel if the town is full of quirky residents that play a large part in the story. Rescue Me fits the sub-genre, but it thankfully has more going for it than the quirky characters that intrude upon the story. Gibson has given the book two main characters that are interesting and just a little different. Sadie feels like a real person. She makes choices I can understand and i More...

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.

Shame on me!!!! Because I liked this writer's first two books a lot, I keep falling for the next one. And the next one and the next one. And I keep getting fooled. This one is no different from the last dozen or so. I usually like, or at least try to like, the characters in the books I read. The people in this book have nothing going for them except looks. And sex. That's all they seem to think about, talk about, care about, act upon, and ba More...

3.5 Stars. I had a very hard time rating this one, as I liked the 2nd half of the book much more than the 1st half. This is not Gibson's best work, but her 2nd best is better than many other writers A Game. This one ties in lightly with her 'Chinooks Hockey Team' series as well as the 'Lovett, Texas' series.

Sadie Hollowell has come home to Lovett, Texas for a few days to be in her cousin's wedding. She has a one night stand with Vince Haven, (Autumn's brother from Any Man of Mine). He's there vi More...

What a letdown! I've been there for each and every one of Gibson's once-a-year books. This one is so not worthy.

I hate to pile on, but I've got so many complaints about this book that laying them out with bullet points is the only way to go.

* Small towns modeled on 1960s television sitcoms no longer exist. Oh, wait! They never did. Mayberry is not real, people. Why do contemporary writers perpetuate this fantasy? It's old and tired and not pleasant.

What a great Rachel Gibson read! Reminiscent of Gibson books from the past we are returning to the fictional town of Lovett, Texas where Daisy’s Back in Town takes place. From the very first pages you just feel like you are wrapped in the warm arms of a Rachel Gibson novel and welcomed home. For long time fans of Rachel Gibson, you probably know what I am talking about. From go, you are laughing from Gibson’s warped sense of humor. Admittedly it’s probably not for everyone, but for those of us w More...

One of my current TV show obsessions is the CW's Hart of Dixie. There's something magical about small country towns where everyone knows each other and they have these wacky parades and holiday events. Nobody else captures the charm of these small towns like Rachel Gibson. She always manages to write the best love stories that are romantic, light and witty, yet still manage to tug at your heartstrings.

Rachel Gibson once again takes us to Lovett, Texas More...

Mainly - I was completely underwhelmed. What I've loved about Rachel Gibson - her ability to give her characters an actual life beyond the lusting and sexxoring, weren't enough to elevate this one for me. I loved the previous Lovett book - Daisy's back in town - and Vince's sister's book - Any Man of Mine - both of those rank amongst my favourite RG but this one was just meh. Sadie left Texas at 18 to study and has moved around with a couple of visits home. Raised by her rancher dad since her mo More...

Say what you will, but Rachel Gibson's latest is at least enjoyable. Is it a five star? No. But I still found myself interested in the story till the very end.

I don't know that I found Sadie super-relatable, but for the setting of this book, I don't think she had to be. For me, this wasn't a story of the life she had built or tried to establish for herself or even the person she had become. It was about coming back to a place and figuring out the foundation all over again. About balancing the ol More...

I’ve never read a Rachel Gibson book before although I have heard such good things about her books so I really wanted to give one a go. Although this is the third book in a series, it can be read as a stand-alone and you needn’t have any knowledge of the other books at all.

Rescue Me begins by telling the story of Sadie Hollowell, a girl born and raised in Texas and a girl who couldn’t get away quickly enough. She hasn’t been home to the ranch and her father in a long time but when a cousin gett More...

I believe this book relates more to how fate/destiny takes you in paths you never expect. how many times do we turn back and think... if I would have not done this, or if I would have done that.. my life would be completely different now?
that is what this is about...

If Sadie would not have gone to the wedding, she would have not met Vince... she would have not been around when her father had his accident.. and her life would have been completely different.

I like Sadie. she is quite down to earth More...

This is the second Rachel Gibson Contemporary Romance that I have read and enjoyed it much more than the previous one, but ultimately I don’t think her style is my cup of tea.

The story is set in Texas. Our heroine, Sadie, visits her hometown of Lovett in Texas for a wedding, but ends up staying much longer after her widowed Father is injured and sent to rehab. Sadie grew up on the large family ranch, but never developed an interest in running it, and left home drifting through a number of diffe More...

Rescue Me
Lovett, Texas Series Book Three
By Rachel Gibson

Sadie Hollowell never seemed to fit in, in her hometown of Lovett Texas population ten thousand. As soon as she turned eighteen she escaped the prying eyes of such a small community to live her own life. Now she has come back after not being home for the last five years for her cousins wedding. She’s thirty three unmarried and not looking, making her still an outsider she is determined to get back to her life in Phoenix as soon as the weddi More...

Let me forewarn you that Rachel Gibson is one of my favorite authors - she is an auto buy for me. RESCUE ME will not disappoint its readers but I must say it did not have the same Gibson style that I love and adore --- the pacing of the story was a bit off -- RESCUE ME starts off slow, although the H/H meet early in the book they do not get together again until after page 50! ---also, throughout the story I saw so much more potential for fun Gibson banter between the H/H that left me wanting (in More...

Omigosh. I have not l-o-v-e-d a Rachel Gibson book so much since See Jane Score . From page 1, with a southern voice that I heard straight out of mt cousin's mouth, Ms. Gibson pulled me in.
Mercedes Johanna Hollowell (Sadie Jo)has returned to Lovett, Texas, roped into being a bridesmaid for her nearly-decade-younger cousin. She hasn't been back in five years, not having the relationship with her father that would have her returning more often.

There is a lot of back story and world building in Rescue Me and sometimes it got in the way of the romance. I liked both the main characters. Sadie Hollowell is an independent successful woman who has issues with her father any time she goes home to Texas. She is not much for commitment in any relationship Vince Haven is a ex Navy Seal suffering from mild PTSD who also has commitment issues. The two meet when Sadie has to go home to be in her cousins wedding. Neither wants a serious relationshi More...

First thing that came to mind when I finished reading Rescue Me was – Perfect Beach Read. If I hadn’t read this book in my house, commutes and free time, I would’ve loved to read this book on the beach under an umbrella, sipping some iced coffee and the sounds of the clashing waves in the background. Unfortunately, that was not the case. If you are not sitting on the beach, do not let my day dreaming deter you from reading this book . You will love the small town gossip, Stetson and boot wearing More...

Wow! Ms. Gibson has created one of her finer works, in my opinion. All the things I love about a read from Rachel Gibson were in Rescue Me!

Sadie Hollowell doesn't live her life based on what others' might say about her, and the small-town personalities of Lovett, TX have a lot to say. But a swing into town for her cousin's wedding becomes an extended visit unexpectantly.

Vince Haven is a former Navy SEAL, who wants no ties to anyone or anything. He sticks around Lovett a little while to help his More...

Rachel Gibson-Rescue Me - Lovett, Texas, Bk 3

It's a fun, fast read set in small-town Texas. Lovett is one of those towns full of 'Thou Shalts', 'Thou Shall Nots', and "Everybody Knows Thats' and Sadie left it years ago in a cloud of dust, with a final wave and no regrets. Now she's coming back, briefly, making a command appearance as a bridesmaid for a cousin she doesn't even know. It's just a temporary blip in her life, not like she was planning to stay. But still, being back in the town which More...

Sadie Hollowell left Lovett, Texas at the age of 18 and has only been back for the occasional holiday gathering with her father who she has never gotten along with very well. A young cousin’s wedding is what has Sadie coming back to Lovett this time around. Forced by familial obligations to stand up in a wedding she plans on driving in and driving right back out ASAP. When Sadie helps Vince (Autumn’s brother from Any Man of Mine) with a ride into town after his truck breaks down, she discovers p More...

I enjoyed this book just like I enjoy Rachel Gibsons other books. I was glad there was a book about Vince Haven. I enjoyed getting to know Sadie Hollowell and Vince Haven. Their relationship was one of no strings attached and strictly pleasure. Both of them had bad relationships and didn't want to committ to anything.

I enjoyed how they both got to know each other and how Vince would save Sadie when she had noone to turn to, with a simple text "RESCUE ME" her knight and shining armor was right th More...

Argh this book frustrsted me. It had everything I usually like in a Gibson book. Sadie is a strong female who is realistic - she has a job, likes to have sex & has a brain. Vince is a strong male but not some alpha who thinks the woman can't look after herself. Gibson's typical well written characters which is why i read her books. Automatically. No questions asked.

So you would these two really interesting characters should result in a great story. You would be wrong.

I love Rachel Gibson's writing style. One of the draws for me is the humor that is embedded along with the romance. Added to this is the unique, quirky characters she gives along with a hot, sexy read. She did not disappoint with this one!

I’ve been a huge fan of Rachel Gibson’s for years. She writes such funny, heart wrenching, sexy contemporary romances that I rush to the bookstore every year for her new book. Even though her past couple books I had thought lost a little bit of their magic, I will purchase everything that she releases because I have faith she’ll get the mojo back that I love. I thought that this title, Rescue Me, was well on the road to being just what I loved from Ms. Gibson and why I keep buying her (and rerea More...
