When I saw this book I noticed that the author is a registered nurse and has a Master’s degree in Public Health, plus several other letters after her name and thought ‘She’s a nurse, she’s probably really know what she is talking about.” I felt like I identified with her. We’re both LDS moms, we’re both nurses and we’re both trying to help people save time and money. So I bought it. As I started reading it, I was kind of disappointed. The stories are very contrived and many of the facts and tips...more

The title says it all! And it's not kidding! There are 1001 Tips in this book. Also, she adds recipes, quick mixes, stories and facts.

Here are a few random tips:

Heavy cream that has been whipped and dolloped onto wax paper and frozen freezes well. Just allow 10-15 minutes to defrost.
Ever wonder how many shrimp are in the 1 pound package you bought at the market? Well, here's hos to read a shrimp bag: Cunt 21/25 means there will be between 21 and 25 shrimp in the bag.

While the freezer tips were useful, (Who knew you could freeze milk?) most of it seemed geered towards someone with far more time at home than me. It was also designed more for large families.

On a side note, rice krispie treats are NOT a safe treat to bring to every school function/party. Kids with gluten allergies still can't eat them, unless you get the gluten free variety. A publisher should get this corrected. I fumed about it for hours... :)

Mostly a waste of time. I gleaned a few useful tips from my reading, but nothing that will drastically swell my checking account. And nothing that I hadn't heard before. Disappointing :(

I stuck this book in my purse and read it as I waited for appointments, etc. More than the tips, I liked the author's parables about the importance of learning about taking care of needs.

Pretty good book, but not in a format style that I like. It was mostly just numbered tips, with some paragraph writing at the beginning of each section. Good information, just not my format preference.
