I really loved this book! It was original, delightfully funny and wickedly sexy. There was a wonderful array of richly drawn characters and just the right amount of drama and mystery to keep me intrigued.

What I loved most about the book:-

The Setting

It was refreshingly different to read a story set against the backdrop of 19th century New York and Ms Marvelle brought everything to life with her vivid images of the notorious Five Points.

He scanned the stretching width of the dank street. Cramped...more

It took me so long to write this review that I forgot about it. However, I really need to be a good girl so I’m going back and doing my reviewing duties!!!!

The characters

At the beginning of this book, we have Georgia and “Robinson”. Robinson is not really Robinson, he is in fact Roderick Gideon Tremayne, heir to the Duke of Wentworth. However, at the beginning of the book, Robinson is suffering amnesia due to a head injury so he does not remember his name, his identity or much of anything except...more

This book was well written, well played out, and I believe will be well loved by romance fans of all kinds. I'm sure there are many amnesia themed romances out there, but this was my first one and I really enjoyed it. I felt like this book really stood out from the masses of historical romance out there in that the characters were wonderfully developed and the circumstances keeping our heroine and hero apart were more reali...more

There was much I enjoyed about this story of an English aristocrat in 1830 NYC who has an accident and gets amnesia. He falls in love with the young widow who helps him and lets him live with her in her tenement to recuperate. The dilemma: once he regains his memory, she is so below his class, a marriage between the two will never work. How do they get around this? Overall, this was a good romance. I liked the hero, Robinson (he thinks his name is Robinson Crusoe), who was endearingly sweet in h...more

Edit: Since I actually took the time to write a review for this one, I think it's earned its stars. Still a DNF, though.

***

At 50% of the ebook copy I have, I'm giving up. This is going to be a DNF review. If that's not your thing, you really should stop reading now-ish. Also, this is going to be spoilerish up until the point when I decided to jump ship.

Forever and a Day is not a bad book. It actually starts out really well with a cute-meet on the street with two people of two different classes...more

Oh sweet Jesu, where do I even begin with this review. So many thoughts are running through my head and what are or are not spoilers. I spent 5 hours starting in the dead of night reading this book and let me tell you, it was worth having an addled brain in the morning. Ah-mazingly Marvelleous. I thought my fan girl crush on Delilah Marvelle couldn't grow anymore but holy feck! It has. A lot.

Reasons to read this book:

uuuuugh!!!! I can't wait for the next book. (Funny coming from me right?) Well, I mean if you KNOW about me. Anyway. This book was incredible. Not at all predictable, not at all on a timetable, not at all what you'd expect. It's amazing, all the maundering was missing. It was incredible. And the hotness! HAWT! Seriously, we made her read the first smexxy time scene for Denver Lady Jane's and the room was blushing. BLUSHING!!

It was beyond fabulous and it ended and I was so sad. I can't WAIT for...more

This book takes place in New York, 1830.
Delilah Marvelle has been on my wishlist for a while now, and as she is one of the authors coming to Berlin for LLC 2013, that was the perfect excuse to buy some of her books, and start reading.

Georgia Milton is on her way home, when a richly dressed English Gentleman stops her, flirts with her, and asks her out for a cup of coffee in his hotel. Georgia refuses, she is not that poor that she has to sell her body. And she knows what that invitation will le...more

Georgia Milton is a young, 22 year-old, widow who lives if Five Points, NY. She's not a lady, but nor is she anything to be ashamed of. She's in the street one day, when a handsome gentleman approaches and pursues her, but asks for nothing more than coffee. She can tell he's British, very wealthy, and the most handsome man she's ever seen. When her purse is cut, and he, like a gentleman, runs after the thief, he meets with an accident. This accident causes him to lose his memory and Georgia, tor...more

A delightful historical romance set predominantly in New York's less desirable neighborhoods and featuring a plucky Irish lady who was widowed soon after her marriage and who has been working her fingers to the bone to keep body and soul together. Her encounter with Roderick, heir to the Duke of Wentworth on the streets of New York City became complicated and by the time everything had transpired, Roderick had lost his memory and after several days being hospitalized, was taken home by the outsp...more

This book was so cleverly written it's shocking! I finished reading this book and was literally floor by how in depth an well plotted and paced it was. The story line is flawless, creative and thrilling. It is all around an original story line, an for a historical romance that is amazing to accomplish!

For the first third of the book, you are taken from the first introduction of 'a gentleman' and Georgia on the streets of Broadway NY. He takes a head injury and a week later Mrs. Georgia Milton,...more

New York City 1830

Georgia Milton may be the head of the forty thieves but she is known for being very forthright with everyone that she deals with even when she would be better off not saying anything at all. When another thief steals her bag a man that she doesn’t know comes to her rescue. Now Georgia feels responsible and is determined to help heal and get better so that he can get on with his life. What she never expects is the passion they share or the truth about Roderick.

I can sum up my review of FOREVER AND A DAY with one word: Overambitious.

It starts out when our hero and heroine (Georgia and Robinson) meet cute on the streets of New York City. They have a flirty encounter where they exchange heated glances over a nonsense conversation. Then Georgia’s reticule is stolen, our hero chases after the thief, and he’s knocked unconscious by a passing omnibus. He wakes up with amnesia.

Georgia knows they come from different worlds – she’s an Irish widow barely making...more

I liked it and wants to know more about some of the characters in the book. Did have a couple of love scenes in it.
Roderick was in New York park and tried to introduce and invite Georgia to have coffee with him at his hotel. Georgia was not interested and told him to leave. As Georgia continued a child thief stole her purse and took off. Roderick gave chase and got run over by a omnibus and ended up not knowing who he was, how to shave himself or tie his tie.
Georgia ended up after 9 days...more

Forever and a Day by Delilah Marvelle is a historical romance novel due to be released on Dec. 27, 2011. This regency romance begins in New York City with Roderick Gideon Tremayne on an urgent task, but is distracted by a pretty woman on the street. That woman is Georgia Milton, a widow trying to retain her dignity and reputation despite her current situation. His attempt to spend time with Georgia, and help her, ends with an accident which results in injuries and memory loss. When he wakes up w...more

One of my favourite things about this book is Delilah Marvelle's writing style, her romances are often grittier than the typical historical romance. They're certainly very passionate! And I love how one minute she can make me laugh, then I'm sobbing into my dressing gown... a lovely image, I know.

I tended to turn on and off with this story, a little bit. I enjoyed Georgia and Roderick/Robinson's (I'm just going to call him Robinson I think) meeting. It was flirtatious and his persistence and gen...more

(I wavered between three and four stars on this one, but enjoyed the epilogue so much that I decided on four.) For the most part, this book seemed...uneven. A whole lot of time is spent on the beginning ("Robinson" and Georgia's time in NYC when he has no memory), two entire chapters on Roderick's time before he even got to New York (which, though interesting, seemed out of place where it was and how it was written), and then the rest of it just seemed to fly by without a whole lot of time and d...more

This is a take on the classic Prince and the Pauper with a twist. And the twist being of course that the pauper is a woman with a huge heart. Yet even though this storyline has been done before, the characters themselves make it feel all so fresh.

Georgia is an Irish spitfire who is hard as nails in some ways. With her upbringing and where she lives it is a wonder just how large a heart she has. Since she feels responsible for Roderick, or Robinson since that is the only name he remembers, she o...more

I actually listened to this book from Audible.com. The narrator was fantastic and although she may not have every accent exactly correct, she did a great job with the various accents and male and female characters. This book couldn't have been narrated by just anyone due to the various accents required. I think Chloe Campbell NAILED IT!

As far as the book went - I was a little disappointed. This was my first full novel by this author (I read the prequel to this series) and I like her writing styl...more

WOW. Finally, finally, there is a historical romance worthy of my intelligence and that of the genre! I must say, Marvelle has proven that a writer can grow beyond my expectations. Take a nobleman who loses all memory of who he is and only remembers the books he's read and pair him up with a penniless widow who is not your stereo-typical, mindless slap together and what do you get? Divine intervention that the historical romance genre has reclaimed in my eyes. The best parts of this story is Rob...more

What a great start this book was to a new series set in the 1830's New York. What really set this book apart from the genre is that it doesn't take place in the beautiful drawing rooms and glittering ballrooms of the day instead it takes place in the slums of the Five Points area of New York. Of course there is still a duke thrown in there, but it's really about a regular girl trying to survive in a hostile environment. Georgia meets an incredibly attractive man on the street then watches in hor...more

Notes on FOREVER AND A DAY (because I thought it'd be fun!). To those reviewers that read this version via NetGalley and ARCs -- ack! -- the final edition (print and kindle, nook, ect.) is vastly different due to tight scheduling. But you did get the spirit of the book. Various different scenes were added, various dialogue changed, especially pertaining to the hero's father himself.

If you felt like the book ended abruptly, I am ever so pleased to hear it! That means you wanted more and believe m...more
