Her desire becomes his pleasure...

Max Westin. Sex incarnate. She could smell it, feel it with his proximity. Everything about him was a little rough, a little gritty. A primitive creature. Just like she was.

He held her hand a little too long, his thickly-lashed gaze clearly stating his intentions to have her. To tame her…

“Victoria.”

Her name, just one word, but spoken with...more

makeout

When Victoria's husband and Warlock died, he left her all of his powers. The High council of Warlocks were beside themselves. How dare he leave that much power to a familiar. Familiars are meant to be collared and controlled, not vice versa. After many failed attempts to collar Victoria, the council finally sends Max Westin after her.

Insanely intense and sexual.

I never thought the day would would come where I would say that another woman could make me dampen my panties. That day has come. And that day is today. And I just said it! I have been reading so much Sylvia Day lately. I have become addicted and can't seem to put her down, so day after day, Day has continued to get me all hot and bothered with her delectable and erotic words.

Spellbound is an erotic story of love and lust in a world of witches, warlocks and hunters a...more

More Reviews: MY Blog

I've loved Sylvia Day's books from the very beginning but this one really let me down. Spellbound doesn't give us memorable characters that I personally didn't enjoyed reading about, the story doesn't have much of a meaning and it feels like it's just standing there all alone. I walked blindly into this because the book doesn't offer much of a summary but I tried and I'm sad that it failed..

"To submit is not to be weak. You would not be less of a woman, but so much more of one."

"Only within my bonds will you truly know freedom."

When Max Westin is charged by the Warlock council to bring in Familiar Victoria St John, he finds that he has perhaps bitten off more than he can chew. Extremely sexual, feral, and dangerous, Victoria gives Max a real run for his money as he tries to get her to submit to him. But plans change as they both begin to fall in love with each other.

I am a huge fan...more

Victoria St John is a Familiar. Her kind are bound to warlocks to enhance their power but for the last several centuries, Victoria has been alone since the death of her warlock and great love Darius. Warlocks and Familiars are matched by The High Council and it is generally a strategic match, designed to enhance power. However Victoria and Darius found a great love as well and Victoria has been grieving ever since he died. A Familiar who is not bound is in danger of going feral and Victoria’s mi...more

Ever start reading a book and think, "Wait, I think I've read this before?" When I started reading this, these were my thoughts. Originally published in 2013 my hiney. "Alluring Tales" (published 2007) anyone? This is the second time I've blindly bought a Sylvia Day book only to be shocked that it is not what it was made out to be (the first being a collection if authors of which she simply wrote an introduction to the book but none of the stories inside). Both of these are extremely misleading...more

I honestly had no idea what this story was about or where it was going to go. When I started reading the story, I was not sure of either the hero or heroine’s intentions. Where is this going?? I loved finding out how these two characters were connected and what they wanted from each other.
I love Sylvia Day. I think in the previous books I have read she did an amazing job bringing me into the lives of the characters. I had some problems with connecting in Spellbound. The premise was inte...more

3 stars!!

"To submit is not to be weak. You would not be less of a woman, but so much more of one."

This is a strange one to review. I have never read a book before that has been laid out in this way before and for me this is what in some respects let the book down. The book was written from three different points in time, almost like 3 novella’s put together in one book therefore you didn’t get the build up and depth of characters you would normally expect from a Sylvia Da...more

Max Weston is a hot and sexy Dom and a warlock Hunter. He has orders from the counsel to bring her in line or kill her. Max is the person the counsel sends for the most complicated cases. His interactions lead Max to want keep Victoria. Max has with Victoria something he did not expect, and intense interaction and emotion connection. Max’s biggest issue is he is expected to take a seat on the counsel and he is to turn her over to a different Hunter.

BOOK REVIEW by Michelle 13th February 2014:

RATING: 3.5 SYLVIA STARS!!

Ok, I am going to have to think a little differently when writing this review.

Why?

Beause I just LOVE Sylvia Day’s books. Crossfire Trilogy alone has garnered more than 422,500 ratings and the stars are around 4.24 on Goodreads, alone.

She has sold over twelve million books in Crossfire alone, around the globe.

The woman can write.

I have met her in person and she hugged every darn person in that line waiting for her signature an...more

When readers hear Sylvia Day, they automatically associate her with the amazing Crossfire Series and the book boyfriend to end all book boyfriends, Gideon Cross. And me being a VERY big fan of the series was excited to read something else from the fabulous Sylvia Day. Spellbound was a good paranormal erotic romance that had great elements and some not so great. With all of the hype and high expectations from this author, I was expecting a little bit more out of Spellbound. Don't get me wrong, I...more

Been a fan of Sylvia Day for a while now and now I know I've drank the Sylvia Day juice for sure when I fell for a PNR/fantasy H like Max Westin LOL (especially considering it's not a sub-genre I automatically gravitate towards...)

It appears Max and Victoria's story is from 3 different anthologies. So I'm glad they were all put together here as one story. Yes, you needed to buy into their attraction quite quickly but with Ms. Day's writing, I bought it:p I thought each "short story", or the way...more

Syliva day you have out done yourself yet again. This book was hot, sexy and just amazing. When the book started I was hooked right away with the story. The idea behind the magic was amazing I loved how hunter were always dominate and how female witches were submissive. I loved the relationship between Max and Victoria they way she submits to him was just sexy as hell.

There wasn't anything bad about this book that I can talk about the idea and concept was just amazing, the characters were stron...more

Primeiro a sinopse não faz advinhar que é um livro de fantástico. Depois a historia é confusa e repetitiva. Francamente uma verdadeira seca.

Wait so is this considered beasteality, because that is all I could think of reading his book.

I felt like 90% if this book was repeating the same thing, and backtracking to state what we had already read.

There is a thing as "to much sex and not enough story" and this book fell into this tragic category. This is the first Sylvia Day book that I did not like, and I hope it never happens again.

Also, why did I bit know this was paranormal? Although at one point during a magic fight, I was picturing...more

I love Sylvia Day's books, and was looking forward to reading this. Unfortunately I ended up being quite disappointed in it. Not with the writing itself, because that was style wise really good as usual. It was more with the story itself. Had I known exactly what it was I possibly wouldn't have wanted to read it quite so much.

Basically it is Max's job to tame Victoria. She has become a bit of an embarrassment to the council since the death of her previous Warlock Darius. Max is one of the top Wa...more

Having read and loved the Crossfire Series, I was very excited to read Spellbound. Of course, Spellbound is very different than the Crossfire Series since it is an erotic paranormal romance. Sylvia definitely brought the HEAT to Spellbound like she manages to do in all her books and I enjoyed the originality of the story, but there was just something that I felt was missing and I just can’t put my finger on it. Maybe it was my lack of connection to the characters. Don’t take this the wrong way,...more

Having enjoyed the "Crossfire series" by Sylvia Day, I was curious about the paranormal world in which she had decided to take her readers with her new story.
The beginning between the familiar, the wardlock and the hunter made me think an episode of Supernatural. As I'm a fan of the Winchester brothers, I liked the mix of magic and hunter.

But I admit I was a little disappointed ... I found that the text had been mounted as if it were independent chapters, with a reminder of the previous adve...more

Max Westin is a hunter and warlock. He chases and captures those that have fallen too deep in Black Magic and are not able to be saved. The High Council has given Max his latest mission....Victoria St. John.

Victoria St. John is a familiar...the most powerful familiar. She has spent the last two centuries grieving the death of her first warlock, Darius and the High Council is now viewing her as feral.

Will Max calm Victoria? Can Victoria be collared? Is it possible to find a "once in a li...more

**ARC provided by the author in exchange for an honest review.**

When you hear the name Sylvia Day, you automatically think of New York City, Gideon Cross and the beat damn book series of all time. The Crossfire Series introduced me to the amazing creations that Sylvia publishes and I’ll never turn back. Obviously with such a large readership with the Crossfire Series, Spellbound would need to compete with Sylvia’s previous works. The story was an exhilarating paranormal romance t...more

~ 3- 3.5 Hearts ~ ARC received for a honest review

I could probably count on one hand how many paranormal romances I've read but that's probably more that the synopsis for said books haven't particularly grabbed me as opposed to the fact that I'm not a fan of this genre. So when the opportunity to be a part of the blog tour for Sylvia Day's "Spellbound" came up, the blurb sounded so good, I jumped at the chance. Yup this book definitely had a BDSM element to it along with the the drama and acti...more

I totally love Sylvia Day books, but this kind of left me a little confused at times.
This was basically three short stories in one quick book.
The sex scenes in this book were true to the greatness that is Sylvia Day, off the charts hot erotic, steamy, sexiness, but the storyline...not so much.

There was lots of witchy type terms that left me lost, at times i felt like i had started on book two of a series. There is not much of a development to the whole warlocks and witches bonded with familiars...more
