Amy Neftzger’s matching ebooks, Bedtime stories for Cats and Bedtime stories for Dogs make a great set of tales (or tails) for the animal lovers (and animals) of any household. The stories weave nicely together with cat-stories retold from the dog’s point of view, and dog-myths replayed with cat-like superiority. Lovers of both breeds will benefit greatly from having both books to read, and indeed, I believe the print version contains them both, told from back and front and meeting in the middle ...more
I received Bedtime Stories for Dogs/ Bedtime Stories for Cats by Amy Neftzger from goodreads first reads giveaway. There is only one way to describe this book and that is totally adorable. I personally have always loved animals but have always been more of a dog person. I have two dogs and while I was reading this book one of my dog was sitting on my bed with me, so me being the loser that I am decided to read some of the stories in this book to her. She actually sat there looking at me and then ...more

Review: This is a very cute book geared toward dogs and cats. What I liked most about it was the way the author made the stories sound as if they were to be read to your pet. The stories ranged in variety and the cat edition mirrors that of the dog edition telling both sides of the same story from the viewpoint of the animals themselves.
I liked this cute little collection of stories which are being told through a pet's point of view, giving the readers insights into what's going on in your pets mind, which is something I don't really buy into that much but if I was younger, had children or just enjoyed these types of books in general, I probably would have rated the book 5 stars.

This whimsical book of dog and cat bedtime stories is awesome. From the short stories to the poetry, I have a better understanding of what dogs and cats think about their surroundings and their dreams, too. The author, Amy Neftzger, capures the innocence, pride, and courage that dwell in all dogs and cats.

In heaven, cats swim in a warm pool of cream that never goes cold or sour.

These same jobs we perform here on earth will also exist in heaven, but in much greater magnitude and importance because our performances will have eternal consequences.

From creation to heaven, squirrels to bunnies, cats and dogs have their own unique tales of how things work in the world and what their place is in it. Bringing order to chaos and protection from evil are very important jobs that our canine and feline frien
I received a print copy of this novel from the author and all following thoughts are purely my own. Thanks Amy!
This is another novel I didn't really know what to expect. As a kid, I'd been one of the few to read my pup a story or two if I was having trouble sleeping. This story was different from what I expected in that aspect, being a little darker in the beginning than many of the fairy tales we tell today. As the story continued, the plot became much lighter and carefree, although many were

A charming book that is full of easy to read and enjoy little stories about dogs and when you flip the book over, you get another one dedicated to cats. I read both sides but I am still a dog person. The majority of these stories can be read aloud and enjoyed by both the reader and the dog listening. I was not able to test this out on cats since my dachshund would be very upset if I came into contact with a cat. The best stories in both editions are the ones that given from the viewpoint of the ...more
What I liked most about this book is that it's not just a group of stories: it's also a subtle commentary on different perspectives and biases. I loved that some of the same stories were told by either the cat or dog and we can see that each species rewrites the situation according their own beliefs. At the same time, you don't have to pay attention to some of the deeper connections between the stories to enjoy it, so the book is appropriate for younger readers, as well.
The first thing I noticed was the cute dog and cat on the covers they are adorable. I enjoyed reading these stories .The Friendly Caution at the front got my attention so of course that was the first story I read in the cat section. I will never look at thunder storms the same way again. My cats will hide under the bed as usual. :) I hope to read more from this author in the future.
This double edition book was very cute and a quick read. The stories that intertwined were the best ones, they gave the same story from both dog and cat perspectives. I would love to have given the book 5 stars, but the writing, to be honest, wasn't very good; if I were a child it would probably have been excellent though.
Shared with my young niece and nephew. We all really enjoyed the stories.
