I thought Ace's death would be the only occasion in One Piece to make me cry but the story of the brothers' childhood and separation achieved it too. It was impossible not to cry for them .

The last ten one piece books have knocked my socks off.

Manga isn't allowed to be this entertaining - but I suppose it is the pay off for reading over 600 episodes.

I can't believe how well plotted these books are - look forward to the next 60 volumes now that I am up to date.

I think it is still currently ongoing. The latest chapter of Volume 60 was released last October 2 in English at Manga site. I reeeaaaallllllyyyy love One Piece, more than Naruto and Bleach. One Piece's Monkey D. Luffy really knows how to make me cry. LMAO. I'm such a sissy. Yesterday, me and my boyfriend was watching One Piece Episode 566, I already watched that (also read the manga) so I know what happened there. But there's this line from Luffy saying that he wouldn't let anyone get hurts in ...more

You know, Oda, this kind of emotional manipulation isn't fair. After some 'okay' volumes of Bleach and Naruto, this latest book of One Piece is like a blessing in disguise. It's a huge turning point in this series for everyone involved - a literal start of a brand new era in the age of pirates. Compared with the latest volume of Naruto I read, Oda has done an excellent job of bringing together an increasingly expanding cast with some serious drama and action without getting confusing.

For me, One Piece is best Manga ever written. The story always touch my heart, it is a combination of faithful friendship, laughter, loyalty and action.
Some people might find this manga as silly and pointless (I’ve heard this before) but they never truly read the Manga and therefore judging it simply from the cover. I’ve been in that position too…and thank God I finally looked beyond the cover and found the greatest adventure any Mangaka ever written.

Luffy's pov on what had happened to Ace and him in his childhood. Also the tragedy of Sabo and how they reacted. Plus, Luffy recovering and getting an opportunity of a lifetime from Silvers Rayleigh himself. On top of that Dragon and Garp along with the rest of the marines reactions to Luffy still being alive.

I really enjoyed this one because not only do you see Luffy talk to Rayleigh but the speech to him by Jinbe himself was touching. Also seeing what had happened to Sabo when they were kids

Rating jelek ini buat versi bahasa Indonesianya. Bukan buat serinya secara utuh.

Udah lama nggak baca One Piece edisi bahasa Indonesia. Terakhir baca smp Thriller Bark dan gw nggak ada masalah sm sekali dgn komik ataupun terjemahannya. Enak-enak aja dibacanya. Cuma vol 60 ini entah kenapa rasanya kaku benjeett... Banyak yg diterjemahkan terlalu harfiah jd berasa nggak lancar dialognya. Setelah dicek... ternyata bener kan feeling gw. Penerjemahnya bedaa cooyy!!! Editornya juga... Nggak tau sih dia

This vol was a very enjoyable read. It was really great seeing more of Luffy's, Ace's, and Sabo's past. And thanks to this everything makes sense of why Luffy always was saying Ace promised him he would never die. It's just so sad.. :(

I still can't believe how stuck up those nobles were though. Not caring about whether those people died just because they were commoners. Seeing them as nothing more than trash to just be thrown away and destroyed like nothing. So sickrning!!

And anyways, had so

Back in Volume 1, Luffy's home island was presented as a gentle backwater - the ideal place for a fantasy hero to launch his quest. Now Eiichiro Oda brings us back for another look, revealing the corruption and injustice lurking just out of shot. It's a retcon which reflects One Piece's changed priorities - the more explicitly political turn the series began to take with the Enies Lobby and Saboady arcs. So the flashback spotlight isn't on Luffy or the late Ace, but on new character Sabo, a scio ...more

Luffy's past with Ace and Sabo really pulled at my heart strings. I now yearn to be a child again, to have freedom, to have adventures, to form beautiful friendships.. I need a reality check. One Piece sometimes makes me wish that I didn't have to go to school and aim for success all the time, sometimes I wish I could live in a world like One Piece where the characters experience freedom and adventure like no other. But then again, that would mean that I would have to experience atrocities and h ...more

Another really strong entry for One Piece, as we wrap up some backstory giving full context to Luffy and Ace's history together and then step back into the present day as the various straw hats begin drawing back together.

It feels like ages since we saw the rest of the crew. They are welcome back! The pacing feels a little slow, but only because at this point you just want SO MUCH for them all to get together and get back to adventure.
Jeffrey
Wrapping up the story of Ace & Luffy's childhoods, Eiichrio Oda finally sets the wheels in motion to get the gang back together.

While I should say it's been long overdue, Oda cleverly uses the events of Impel Down and Paramount War to again establish Luffy's effect on the entire world, and this makes the delay understandable. There is a sea change happening and Oda does not excise consequences for the sake of keeping the storytelling easy. A very good volume in the ongoing series.

It's a shame that Oda didn't really show the plan of Luffy's getting to Marineford in a straight away manner, but in the eyes of others, I would really want to feel that emotion so much more. 3days 2years! Ace, Whitebeard and 'Sabo' we'll forever miss you! RIP! Everyone's rooting for Luffy! Yeah,Luffy has gotten himself an amazing crew.... 4 stars

I gave bad rating for the Indonesian translations. So i think i'm gonna read the original version. Since this is the volume that tells Luffy's past, and this is his turning point of life, so i think this one of the most important One Piece volume that can't be missed.

P.S I have read the English scanlation's version btw :D

588 - Ace is best brother. This explains Luffy's persistence to make people his crewmates even if they "don't want to" like what happened with Robin and Nami
590 - All these Ace flashbacks are hurting my heart
593 - I thought it was too much of a coincidence that the crew each landed on an island that can help them become stronger the most, but now I understand why. Oda, you genius! :)

As Ace's recent death clearly hasn't traumatized us enuff, this volume lets that simmer and goes into a massive flashback. Luffy & Ace as little kids. Back in East Blue

and after that its back to the present with the Marineford aftermath... Plus a quick look at what the rest of StrawHat Pirates been up to.
But really, this volume's entire strength is the flashback

Oh, this is so awesome! The story of when Ace and Luffy were kids! Oh, and Sabo was there too! They are just so cute when they were little! All three are big troublemakers though. They beat up thugs and train to be pirates. I wonder how Garp will react to this??
