Until I Die, the second book in the Revenants series, is very much a middle book, but we do learn tons more about the Revenant lore in addition to greater character development. And of course, we still have the beautiful Paris setting.

Oriented towards the Revenant lore, we're plunged deeper into their background and history in this sequel. I was very interested in Amy Plum's unique zombie lore from the beginning, so I was happy to get some more details on these unusual beings. Even though there...more Until I Die, the second book in the Revenants series, is very much a middle book, but we do learn tons more about the Revenant lore in addition to greater character development. And of course, we still have the beautiful Paris setting.

Oriented towards the Revenant lore, we're plunged deeper into their background and history in this sequel. I was very interested in Amy Plum's unique zombie lore from the beginning, so I was happy to get some more details on these unusual beings. Even though there is still some plot development included, the pacing hovers a bit on the slow side. However, if - like me- you enjoyed book 1 mostly for its characters and setting, you will not be disappointed. There is plenty of Paris presence, in which walks our well beloved characters.

Two of these beloved that shine in this novel are Jules and Georgia. I completely adore Jules. He is so sweet and every time he's present he fills the book with humor and charm. Considerably more involved in this book- Kate's sister, Georgia, also knows how to liven things up. She is simply a fun character - witty, spontaneous, and just plain buoyant. She has the confidence everyone wishes they had. I loved seeing more of her. She's also someone we can always count on and put our trust into no matter what. This sisterly bond is another part of the book that I adore. There are a couple of new interesting personalities that join the already superb cast: Arthur is cranky but surprisingly intriguing. And Violette is a lot of fun, outgoing, and charming when she wants to be.

Since I wasn't infatuated with the romantic plot in Die For Me, I was happy to find the romance was a tad more passionate in this second novel. Where the previous book left me underwhelmed, Until I Die made me see how, even though it's not an all-consuming, lust-filled romance, the love for each other is definitely present. Their desperation fills the pages, but with an air of maturity. Almost as if they've together for years already. Add a Parisian setting to the mix, and we've got an enchanting love story.

An utterly shocking ending will make you long for the final book. It's not every author who would dare go the route Amy went; I love how she's not afraid to make things happen. This is not a fairy tale! For this reason though, I can see how some may not be to happy with it, nonetheless I thought it was an amazingly heartfelt, passionate ending that brings a lot of emotions to the surface. As a middle book, Until I Die is clearly a set up for the finale, but it's still a great addition to the series that gives us plenty of development as far as character and world building. Book 3 - If I Should Die - promises to be heartbreaking and thoroughly intense.

The fact that I recognized the villain(s) right away and that I was able to see right through their schemes didn’t detract from my enjoyment of the book. I don’t read this for the mystery, I read it for the setting and the fabulous characters I’ve come to see as friends. I’m not just talking about Kate and Vincent here, the entire group of revenants is very dear and familiar to me, I feel like I’ve known them all for ages. I missed Charlotte a lot in this book, she was always one of my favorites, but I understand why she had to leave and I had Jules to distract me (and make me laugh) with his womanizing ways.

I hate it when a huge part of the plot is built on lack of communication between partners. Most of the problems Kate and Vincent found themselves in could have been easily avoided. All Vincent needed to do was tell the truth instead of constantly asking Kate to trust him and let him handle things. Even though he was just trying to spare her feelings and avoid shocking her further with grim facts of his existence, I thought it was condescending and just a touch stupid, especially because she handled everything he threw at her so well before.

On the other hand, a part of me is glad that Vincent has a flaw I can rant about. Everything else about him is just so perfect and he and Kate are one of the sweetest couples in YA literature, at least to me. I love that they never doubt each other and that they always consider each other’s feelings, even when it requires sacrifice. Their relationship is very mature and healthy, and the big moment they had in this book was handled elegantly.

The fact that I pointed out a few negatives doesn’t mean I didn’t enjoy the book. In fact, I remain a huge fan of this trilogy and I truly don’t know how I’ll wait a whole year to find out what happens to Kate and my poor Vincent. (Did I just write ‘MY poor Vincent’?! Hah, yes, I suppose I did. Shut up, brain!) Hurry up, Amy Plum. I’ll be OLD by May 2013.

I'm sorry, but this book was just plain boring. It was more than halfway through the book before we saw any action. Even then, it was really short-lived. We don't see any action again until near the end. And the villain was too predictable - partly because the book was so uneventful, and I never trusted the villain even from the start because the villain was too perfect. So yeah, I didn't really care for the story here.

As for Vincent and Kate, their relationship was really boring. I know, I know...more

Before I go on I must say, that is one hell of a cover! Once I held a copy in my hands all I could do was stare in awe. Yes, the beauty does seep into the book and Amy Plum does deliver the sequel we have all been hoping for. In this book, I felt a lot of pain and confusion from the characters. While Vincent is trying to find a way to be with Kate without dying, he also collects a number of dark bruises over his body. Yes, all girlfriends would be worried, right? Kate is feeling that worry and does so much research I thought her head might explode.

The book is packed full of action, mysteries, tension, humour and, of course, romance. To be honest, I would have liked to see a bit more between Vincent and Kate but I guess their situation isn't exactly simple! So, in Until I Die we still have Vincent's words to keep us calm. He is still that charming guy from Die For Me just not in the best condition. His relationship with Kate is heartbreaking. No couple would want to be in the mess that their in. It was extremely interesting to see how they dealt with their problems and disagreements.

I don't want to give too much away about the ending, but I can tell you that it is unexpected and just so UNFAIR. Yes, guys, it's a sad ending! It will also leave you craving the next instalment.

Overall, Until I Die is a very exciting sequel that those who loved Die For Me should get their hands on RIGHT NOW! And if you have never heard of this series before then, please, go to your library/bookstore and start experiencing this bright new world!

Oh sweet goodness, how I loved this book!

In the first novel, Die For Me, it was the romantic Paris setting and idea of revenants — undead beings with the compulsion to die to save others — that captivated me. The idea was completely unique and executed with perfection, but even though I loved the characters with all my heart, I was never really sold on the romance.

Until I Die really surprised me. And in a good way. It didn’t suffer from “second book” syndrome! You know what I mean. In the first book our hero and heroine are working do hard to be together and then they finally get to at the end. Only to find some sort of unobtainable obstacle in book two that pushes them apart.

I am so far behind! I read this book back in March and have not gotten around to writing a review. I guess it's a good thing life was too crazy to read much last month or I may never get caught up on my reviews.

I love this series. I don't think it has got the hype it deserves. Great setting, beautiful cover, well written, fabulous characters and clean enough that I don't have to put a big disclaimer if I recommend it.

For me, I feel like Until I Die is a middle book, and although it didn't quite disappoint me much like other sequels love to do to me these days, I feel like Amy Plum abandoned all of the magic and enchantment of DFM that made it memorable. I will say, though, that Until I Die has redeeming qualities and, in lots of ways, is better than DFM. I love the world of Amy Plum, complete with a fun and new kind of supernatural creature- the revenants- (thumbs up for originality), a well descripted Parisian setting, a shy protagonist with a quiet determination, a swoon worthy love interest, very likeable secondary characters, and a war between two sides that's ready to change each one of the characters' lives. What's not to like?

It took me quite a bit of a longer time to get into this book than it did for me to get into DFM. For about 100 pages, I felt as if the pages dragged on and on, but when it got to the part where Kate was looking for the miracle cure to help resist Vincent's temptation to die, that was when I began sitting up. I like to say at this point that this part is original. I was thinking, at the ending of DFM and the beginning of UID, that Plum would have to make a Breaking Dawn move and change Kate into a revenant to be with Vincent. I'm happy that may no longer have to be the case anymore. I think that authors that write paranormal-human romances need to be more creative as to how to get the immortal, ageless boy and the mortal girl together, and not take the easy way out, copy Stephanie Meyers, and transform the girl into the supernatural creature. So Until I Die is a refreshing exception to that.

Of course, my favorite thing about this series will always be Jules, Georgia, and Charlotte. Unfortunately, Jules and Charlotte didn't make as much appearances as I would have liked, but Georgia made a big impact in UID. I love Kate's unconditional, sweet relationship with her sister and the way that Georgia will always have Kate's back and everything. I also really like Charlotte, especially in the first book, and although she didn't have a large role in this installment, I still find her character and background likeable and refreshing. And of course, Jules will always be considered my favorite character ever in the series. I love his snarky quips and flirty jokes. Even though I am against love triangles, I found myself wishing that Kate could have developed feelings for Jules. Nothing against Vincent, but I love Jules a lot more. And for me, in this book, Jules showed romantic interest for Kate. Maybe it could be the start of something....?

I like Kate's romance with Vincent a lot, but in UID, I feel like their relationship lost the sparks and magic it had in DFM. Sure, they would go on dates and see each other everyday, but apparently I just didn't feel sparks. Although I find both Kate and Vincent likeable and can see what they see in one another, their romance wasn't as awesome as it was in the first book. And the fact that they kept things from each other doesn't make it easier for me to like their romance. For a good bit of the book, I was annoyed that Vincent kept refusing to answer Kate's questions on the "experiment" he was doing. I mean, that experiment would affect Kate every bit as it would affect him, and yet, he still evade her questions. And the fact that Kate went behind his back to do some sleuthing bothered me, as well. But in all honesty, I still find the love they have for each other sweet and convincing, though no longer as amazing and epic as it used to be.

All in all, I think this book deserves every single one of my four star rating. This series is really awesome, but in some ways, I keep thinking that UID is like a middle book. I am still looking very forward to reading If I Should Die. I am a sucker for awesome cliff hangers, and I desperate want to know what Plum would do in the end to get Kate and Vincent together. Review:
Well, it took me five days to get through this book and I think that speaks volumes. I really struggled with Until I Die, a book I had been really looking forward to reading, having absolutely loving Die for Me.

It's been a while since I read Die for Me so I don't remember every little detail, just the enjoyment I had from reading it. So I was very surprised to find myself feeling quite negative towards Kate. She just really didn't appeal to me throughout this book.

But I was still completely in adoration of Vincent, and that's probably what kept me going. The hardship that he was going through in this book for Kate just pee'd me off. While we don't find out exactly what it is until the end, we do know that it's not something that's doing him any good. He has bags under his eyes and sometimes literally looks like death warmed up. While I admired him for doing it, and trying to make it easier on Kate being with him, I felt that he shouldn't have to be doing anything, that she should have just accepted him as he was.

I very quickly guessed who the enemy was going to be and didnt' like them from the start. A lot of the time I had an idea what was going on with their motives and couldn't figure out how no one else could see it, so needless to say, that was very annoying.

The secondary characters that we know and love from Die for Me actually play very little part in Until I Die and I missed the banter I had enjoyed between them all previously.

Kate begins to do her own sleuthing then on trying to find a cure for Vincent which does add a little bit more interest, but this isn't until almost halfway through. We learn more about the history of the Revenant's and the Numa and of a prophecy that tells of a Champion among the Revenant's, who will be able to destroy the Numa once and for all. But the person who kills the Champion, will automatically take all their powers.

Any action or excitement in this book didn't occur until the very end. And then it ends on a woeful cliffhanger. I was left feeling so mad that I just wanted to fling this book out of the nearest window. I couldn't believe that I had struggled through this boring, dullness for the past five days for it to end with that.

Obviously, such a cliffhanger ensures that I will indeed pick up the next book despite the fact that this was pure insipidness. (less)

Last year I was greatly surprised by Die For Me (Revenants #1). The story was so original and well written, and the characters were so real and lovable that I immediately placed the book among my favorite releases of the year. This time, Until I Die (Revenants #2) absolutely blew my mind, and also, smashed my soul to a million pieces (Oh my God! what an ending!).

The story picks-up soon after the ending of Die For Me. Kate and Vincent are a lovely couple, but of course they have this big problem going on due to Vincent's compulsion to die for humans. This obviously complicates Kate and Vincent's relationship. So, Vincent starts an experiment that will help him to avoid his desire to die, but unfortunately this experiment also has its risks (which I wont give away). In the other hand, Kate researches another way to help Vincent to fight his revenant nature and help him to stay alive long enough until... until the day Kate grows old and dies.

The second installment of this invigorating paranormal romance absolutely stole my heart. If I loved Revenants before, now I love them even more! Amy Plum's marvelous story telling kept me turning pages with no stop. I love how mature and realistic Kate's character is. Specially the way she handles her presence into the paranormal world she is now part of. In addition, Vincent is as captivating as always yet, he is not the typical and perfect fictional knight in shining armor. Vincent, regardless being a supernatural being himself, feels really human and real to the reader. That is what makes Vincent so alluring. He is believable.

I love so many things about Until I Die and I could talk about the plot, the fascinating Parisian setting, the well developed characters and the enthralling Revenant concept forever. Yet, I obviously prefer you to experience this spellbinding love story by yourself. I 100% recommend it!

With a heart-wrenching ending that yet sparks with hope, Until I Die will make you feel hundreds of emotions at the same time. Amy Plum has definitely played one of her greatest cards and I cannot wait to know how she will conclude this enthralling story (and one of my favorites!) in If I Should Die, the third and last book of this fabulous trilogy. Here I have another long torture to bear until If I Should Die hits the shelves.(less)

OMG!! I'm so in LOVE with this series!! This one was so good! I couldn't put it down. It really sucked my attention throughtout the whole book.

It does sort of picks up where the 1st one left off in a way. Kate is more involved with the revenants now. She even started training. She has been ever since certain events that happens that puts her in situations to defend herself. She is also helping them, and wanting to protect them. She genuinely cares about them. So we pick up where we left off - Vincent being more romantic than ever, Kate still a little undecided.

I like the story line - I'm a sucker for pull at your heart strings Romeo and Juliet style love. Now enter unrequited love from two other characters, and I hope the next book there will be more drama from them.
