Undeniably 5 Shooting Stars!!

Adam’s Promise: If you stay, I’ll do whatever you want. I’ll quit the band; go with you to New York. But if you need me to go away, I’ll do that too. .. And that would suck, but I’ll do it. I can lose you like that, if I don’t lose you today. I’ll let you go. If you stay.

Fans of If I Stay who thought the story concluded after Mia’s choice will experience the post trauma that not only changed her life, but altered Adam’s happiness. In Where Sh More...

I wonder if it is ok that I liked Where She Went so much more than its predecessor. I mean, If I Stay was all about people dying and lying in coma and there were hardly any tears in my eyes and here I spent hours sobbing over a guy's broken heart? Am I that much into emo guys?

Don't think that's the answer though. Super-emo Shiver's Sam and Beautiful Creatures's Ethan didn't rock my boat and how could they with their obsessions over puffy coats, Scarlett O'Hara and leaky womb type po More...

Once in awhile comes a story that has touched me in a way that I will never forget.
It's a story about one girls journey and her ultimate decision about life and death, to let go or to move on. It was both heartbreaking and heartwarming.
That story was; If I Stay, and after I closed that book, my first and only thought was more.

"You know. I thought about that a lot these last couple of years," she said in a chocked voice. "About who was there for you. Who hel

Note: My review is not going to do this book justice. I don't think I can possibly express how awesome Where She Went is.

Wow! Where She Went is an intense and breathtaking read. I have to admit I enjoyed If I Stay but I wouldn't say I loved it. But W More...

What a ride! Where She Went definitely was one of those books for me. One that had me glued to the pages and forgetting everything around me. One that had me gulping down the whole story in only a few hours, reading as fast as possible (maybe even too fast) to find out if my beloved characters would get the ending they hoped for. One that left me glassy-eyed and exhausted, but feeling that this book gave me something more than just a few hours of fun – it gave me a story that will stay with me a More...

WOW. This wasn't what I expected. Not that I know what I expected, but, you know. Adam very much reminded me of Tom Mackee from melina Marchetta's The Piper's Son

It was quite completely unputdownable. Also, the prose felt so much more heart-felt and self-assured than If I Stay.

review to come :)

I loved "If I Stay". LOVED IT. It was one of those books that made my heart and soul ache. It moved me and surprised me and lingered... So much so that I kept mentally comparing the way I felt reading the two books, and I admit to being a bit disappointed by this follow-up.

This is Adam's story. I loved Adam in "If I Stay". He was this incredibly supportive and sensitive and wonderful guy who loved a girl so much that he would do anything for her, who accepted and More...

This review was difficult to write. I didn't even know where to start. All I wanted to do was pick up the book and reread it. Because it was amazing, heartbreaking, and beautiful. I loved it even more than If I Stay.

This is it, the moment I had feared: I am sitting in front of my computer and frown. I am scrutinizing the small list of all-time-favorites displayed on my Goodreads profile. And I know one of them has to go. It is a sad step, but inevitable. For Where She Went is simply that overwelmingly good. I really, really loved If I Stay and I anticipated the sequel from Adam's point of view like a druggie longs for his next shot, but I still wasn't prepared for the bone-shattering impact. For the turmoil More...

If I Stay is easily one of my favorite novels, ever. And Where She Went was just as incredible. As soon as I heard that there was going to be a sequel to If I Stay and that it was going to be in Adam's point of view... I knew it was going to be epic. And it was.

I loved Adam in If I Stay, and after experiencing this story through his eyes, I love him even more. God, this story.... I'm steel reeling... I'm up, I'm down. I just finished the story a mere hours ago and I'm still not over More...

I feel like anything I say about this book will be a spoiler, so I'll keep it short. It rocked. In many ways. It's hard to imagine what could possibly follow IF I STAY...no conflict could ever be as wrenching and poignant as the one Mia faces in the first book.

From the first pages of WHERE SHE WENT, we see where Adam and Mia went in the three years since the end of IF I STAY. The question, then, is less where they went and more how they got there, and why. Forman uses the same s More...

My brain hurts. My heart hurts. My everything hurts!

I had not started it yet, but already I was upset with Mia. It’s been a little over a month since I read If I Stay, so I know what she went through. I also know what she does to Adam. And like Adam, I didn’t know why. Like him, I wondered. Like him, I was angry. But once I got started on this, I saw quite clearly what losing her did to him. Then I felt a little more angry and heartbroken for him. And still I wondered, as he did, More...

“You know, I thought about that a lot these last couple of years,” she says in a choked voice. “About who was there for you. Who held your hand while you grieved for all that you’d lost?”

My thoughts exactly. Why did Mia leave Adam? Why did he let her leave? Why didn’t she say anything? Why did he become so self-destructive? Gayle answers all of these questions in Where She Went, but in the most heartbreakingly beautiful manner ever.

Where She Went definitely ranks at the top of my list as one of my favorite YA Contemporaries for 2011. I read the book at the beginning of the year, but recently heard how awesome the audio version was from one of my fellow flisters. When I saw it at the lib, I grabbed it and decided to give it a try. So thank you Wendy for rec’ing this to me. What an unbelievably AWESOME audio version to a FANTASTIC story.

This was less of a book and more of a roller coaster. You know how you sometimes get off a roller coaster, and your legs feel like jelly and your middle feels like someone's wringing you dry?

***Update***

By pure fluke, I learned Forman was visiting a local indie bookstore a few days after I finished her book (and wrote my original review). Here are some tidbits I took away from the event.

Most importantly, I am 99% sure she is a natural redhead. The color, while still beautiful, is not nearly as vivid as depicted in the picture on the jacket.

Hearing Forman talk contradicts lots of what I surmised about each book. Honestly, I feel a little guilty fo More...

Adam. Adam. Adam.
Thank you so much for this Gayle Forman. With many books I read I'm always wondering: "What is the guy thinking?"

And Adam. Adam is so... heartfelt and unabashed with his feelings toward Mia. I can't wait to read his thoughts.

Ok, I just finished it. I'm still reeling from all the emotion.

Adam is not a tranquil guy. Not at all. Especially not at this point in his life.

Original post One More Page

If I Stay was one of the books I really loved last year, and news of the sequel made me squee enough to guarantee a post. :) It was a very, very long wait, though, before I could get my grubby hands on them. When reviews of the book start popping up every now and then as it nears the release date, I was even more intrigued. I wanted it, but because of my Lenten book buying fast, I had to wait a bit more.

I remember reading If I Stay in a day -- i More...

I think I just finished one of the most beautiful stories I'd ever seen. This one seriously got me. The first time I ever cried over a book! :))

Oh God! This book is just really WOW WOW WOW! It is soo beautiful I don't know how I should start this review. I really liked how If I Stay ended and had definite reservations about the existence of a sequel. As I told Maggie, the only reason I saw for it to be written was that readers and the author liked Adam so much that they wanted to spend some more time with him. And since that was also undeniably true of this particular reader, it wasn't too hard to convince me to give Where She Went a chance.

You know how you make up for being totally unnecessary? Be totally freaking awesome.

Woops…I picked up this book this afternoon to make a small start in it and ended up bolting it in about three hours. This book is sweet and touching (not to mention compulsively readable), but I had one major problem when I was reading it: I kept comparing it to The Piper’s Son. Big mistake! It’s not that I didn’t enjoy this book, but it just never brought me to any emotional highs or lows; I never fell into the character completely like I did with Tom. I would still recommend this though – More...

While reading this book, I kept on thinking about Megan McCafferty. Huh? I know this doesn't make much sense, but really, this is how I wished Perfect Fifths had been written. Don't get me wrong, I loved Perfect Fifths, loved the 80 pages conversation, the haikus, the Barry Manilow karaoke that so many people despised.
I just wish this had been the style of that book too, so to close the story with a More...

Set over a three day period, we get to witness Adam’s life 3 years after the incident that killed Mia’s family. Shooting Star is now a chart topping band, however Adam is despondent, and oddly detached as he continues to dwell on the life that he has lost rather than the one he has been afforded. On the outside, Adam’s success is a dream come true. He’s been blessed with a God given talent and lucky enough to have been given an outlet to share it. Yet Adam can’t muster up any feelings of content More...

Where She Went is the concluding story of Adam Wilde and Mia Hall, whose relationship was put on hold at the end of the first book, If I Stay, when Mia, a gifted cellist, left Adam in Oregon to attend Julliard in New York. The story is told in first-person by Adam, and let me just say that if you do not listen to audio books but were thinking about doing so, this would be an excellent book to begin with. The narrator has a great voice and very smooth presentation.

When Adam kissed Mi More...

Wow! Just finished listening to this and still crying! Such an amazing story.

I read If I Stay and Where She Went a while ago and it ripped my heart out (in a good way) back then. Then I saw my Goodreads friend Arlene was listening to the audio CD of this and I wanted to relive the story as well.

This was sooo good. Adam is the narrator of this story and Dan Bittner captures his voice so well. I had meant to only listen to this to and from work, as my commute time More...

"Really? Was that how you quit me?" And just like that, without thinking, without saying it in my head first, without arguing with myself for days, it's out there. "So," she says, as if speaking to an audience under the bridge. "He finally says it." <-- One of my favourite quotes. Gave me goosebumps.

Remember that loyal, sweet Adam. That kind, naive Mia? Both gone.

But it's Adam that gives you the first blow.
