Unable to afford staying at the boarding school she attended in New York, Kira is back home in South Carolina for high school. On her first day there, she meets and immediately becomes friends with Luke and develops a fascination for Tristan, one of the misfits Luke seems to have something against. As Kira and Tristan slowly grow closer, the secrets they keep come out in the open: what Tristan is, what Kira can do, and the threat each presents to th...more

I'm really glad IGNITE was only $.99, because that's really all it's worth.

The reason I didn't like IGNITE wasn't because of the characters. I didn't care about them that much, but I didn't hate them to infinity and beyond and want to blow all their heads off with an AK-47. It wasn't because of the plot, either. It rolled right along at a decent pace, though much of it was about the romance. It wasn't because of the length -- not too long, not too short.

Then, Hayden, why the heck did it only get...more

Why has no one read/reviewed this book yet!?! Oh WOW!
I'm so grateful for Epilogues at the end of books - because Holy COW that was a bad place to end the book – but the Epilogue helped a lot  it’s also a GREAT way to look forward to the next one :) Can't wait now!

This book was awesome! I love the idea! "She was a Superhuman Conduit of Sunlight - a protector against vampires that would otherwise be unstoppable. "

It's awesome to read about - Ok in the beginning we met Kira - she is home now in...more

When I read the synopsis for Ignite by Kaitlyn Davis, I didn’t really know what to expect. A girl involved in a triangle with two boys seems to be the norm for a typical Young Adult book these days, partially due to the popularity of the Twilight movies and books. However, because of the book’s description, I was excited to read about a girl who had powers of her own; a heroine who wouldn’t be the typical damsel in distress, but a young female who could hold her own.

We’re introduced to Kira Daw...more

For the lulz, my lovely friends. The lulz only.

I'm also intrigued because this book appears to be all about ME. I wonder what shenanigans I get up to?

This just in: Now I have to read this book.

This book was given to me to read and review. I must say that I was sooooooooo happy that I got on the list in time and was given the opportunity to read this. I loooooooved it! Love the characters!!! The plot is awesome!! Any book that has people fighting for their love and fighting to be together is my kinda book. Loved Kira and Tristan. I must say when I started reading it, it definitely reminded me of Twilight. The more I read it the more I thought so. Especially with Diana. The whole scenar...more

Thank you to Kaitlyn Davis and the Read It & Reap Review for the opportunity to read this book.

When I first started reading this book I felt like I was reading fanfic of Twilight. We have a new girl at school, a group of misfits that are vampires and a guy friend (protector) who loves her but she only feels like friends with him. It all felt like Twilight.

Then about halfway through the book it took a turn and became it's own story with a new mythology of how vampires came to be. YA is not so...more

Couldn't finish. Couldn't feel connected with kira at all. To me she was whiny and immature. From reading the summary this just sounds like another vampire story with a love triangle....blah!!!

I want creativity! Not another twilight! This is why I hardly read vampire books anymore.

Really wish we could return kindle books, but this was not worth the 99cents I paid for it. Maybe I should have downloaded the preview since I didn't even get that far....oh well now I know to stay clear from this ser...more

LOL I only started reading this ... (only up to the part where he rescued her from the beach when she was showing off to him and nearly drowned) But one thing Popped out as soon as I started Reading it .. I thought Isnt this a copy of twilight ? same scenario (except for her mom living with her Instead of the dad --and having a younger sister) But even the way when she first met everyone .. she turns up in a car thats not like everyone elses .. is socially awkward ... some guy comes up and says...more

First and foremost, I've been seeing so much distaste for this book and bad reviews and I literally want to tell these people to SHUT UP! Just shut the hell up!

Ignite is the first of its kind and what some have failed to see is the originality in the plot and story development. If you want an un-whiny high school student, go read an NA novel and eat some cake. YA is YA. So what if the character whines or cries? It just makes her so much more REAL.

So, back to why I loved this book so much.

This one got off to a slow start but when it picked up BOY did it pick up!! Kira the new girl in school has no idea she is special. She meets a group of friends Emma the girl that she confides in and Luke the boy that becomes her best friend. She also meets a group of people that can't seem to keep their eyes off her. Which she does not like at all. Except for one, Tristen who she can't help but feel drawn to. Luke does his best to keep them apart. Eventually Kira discovers she is a conduit or i...more

I never thought there would be another vamp novel like Twlight, but this book is SO MUCH BETTER!!! The only downfall in Twlight, in my opinion, was that Bella should of had powers in the first book. Well in Ingnite, Kira's a fire ball. Like LITERALLY! She'd kick Bella and Edaward's Butts anyday! And any other vampire for that matter. But what makes it even sweeter? She's in love with a vamp. And not just your advrage Ed.Cullen. Blah! No, this Vamp named Tristian is a "hottie lamottie with a athl...more

As much as I hate it when people compare books to Twilight, I really had no choice with this one. The beginning was so parallel I had to check the title and author several times to confirm it was, indeed, not Twilight. Keep in mind that, even though its similar, there are plenty of differences through the rest of the story. I wouldn't have given it four stars for being Twilight's twin. Here's a little (long) summary of what its about. Pretty much the whole summary is a giant spoiler, so if you w...more

this book was free on amazon. thats the only reason i got it. and when i finally had some time to start reading a new book, i read the description about Ignite and was a little disappointed that it was about vampires. i dont read vampire books!
but i took a risk and it paid off.
i love the way the book was written even tho i dont read a lot of books in third person view writing.
i immediately connected with the main character Kira. and when her friends came into the picture, i fell in love with th...more

I would like Kaitlyn Davis for giving me the opportunity to read her book. I liked that this was not the typical vampire book although at first it reminded me a lot of the beginning of Twilight. “Ignite” definitely had it’s own vampire twist like no other book I have read. Intrigued me with the superhuman “conduit”. I like how Davis has created this new twist and look forward to reading the sequel.

I would have liked to see a little more depth with the characters, but liked them. Wasn’t a long r...more

IGNITE started off a bit slow, but the characters were interesting from the beginning. I thought the dialogue was solid and realistic throughout. I loved the super hero debate early on, as that exact scene totally happens in real life everywhere. Some new authors fall into the telly trap in dialogue or in their intros, and that didn't happen here. It started off certain in the world it inhabits, complete with surfing. It didn't yank me onward in the very beginning, but I was still reading and no...more

I received this book via Shut Up & Read.

Kira comes home from boarding school to attend her senior yearat the local public high school due to finances. She quickly makes friends with the new kid crowd (a whopping 4 other teens) but her eyes are attracted to one very hot misfit. Of course, this attraction has some drawbacks, namely he is a vampire and she is a conduit...a being born to fight off and/or kill vampires. Their instant attraction sets their friends on a path to try and split them u...more

Ignite
By Kaitlyn Davis

Kira has just moved from New York to Charleston in doing so she has caught the attention of a group of strangers who for some reason won’t quit staring at her from across the lunchroom, but among the group one guy she doesn’t quite mind his look, Tristan. When it turns out Tristan is a vampire and she was actually born with the sole purpose of killing them will they be able to find a way to be together?

Kaitlyn Davis has done an amazing job with this book; I don’t say this...more
Better Read Than Dead (Kelly & Kristin)
It's been a while since I have read a really good YA vampire book. They have become so cliche that I often avoid them. Imagine my surprise when I picked up Ignite and fell in love with it by page 17. I emailed Kaitlyn that minute to tell her how much I was enjoying Ignite. At this point, I wasn't even really certain that the book was about vampires but I suspected as much. But hey...these vampires surfed. I loved Kaitlyn's lore surrounding her vampires. It was unique and well thought out.

It took me a while to get into this one. If True Blood and Twilight had a baby, this would be it. (finally, an explanation for Sookie's glowing hands!) The beginning of the book played out too much like twilight and I really had problems getting into it because of that. However, when something finally happened to send the story in a different direction, I got more interested and ended up finishing the book in just a couple more sittings. There were a lot of grammatical mistakes that were a bit d...more

I couldn't decide whether to give this book three or four stars but I decided that it was deserving of four. I enjoyed this book quite a lot and am intrigued enough to read the sequel.

The Plot:
Kira moves back to her hometown after her parents can no longer afford boarding school. She wishes to become a chef after leaving school, so she is always practising. When she arrives at school, she immediately befriends a boy named Luke, who soon becomes her best friend. Kira is also drawn to a boy named...more

Spoiler Alert:
Ignite gives a new twist on vampires with the protagonist having lived her life oblivious to the fact that she is a "conduit" for sunlight making her a deadly weapon to vampires but also giving her blood a force that makes vampires immune to the very thing that makes her deadly. The prologue confused me a little in the beginning and the author is slow to reveal the storyline so I became frustrated just as the main character is frustrated about who she truly is, why she is able to d...more

*I received a free copy of this book for review purposes. This review is in no way influenced by the author or by having received this free copy. Its contents are my honest opinion of the book.*

When I started this book, I was intrigued. The prologue foreshadowed a major plot event, which would happen later in the book. After that, though, things went a little downhill for me.

I thought the beginning seemed a lot like Twilight, though it did move away from that. The characters were pretty standard...more

Kira Dawson has moved to South Carolina, everything is new to her there, friends, school, and experiences. Kira quickly befriends Luke Bowrey who becomes her closest friend and warns her against Tristan and his brood of trouble, but is unwilling to say why. Although Kira tries to heed Luke’s warning, she can’t stop herself from wanting to know more about the mysterious Tristan. What Kira discovers is she is part of the Conduit of Sunlight, a protector to humans against vampires and Tristan is on...more

Took me on a thrill ride! I LOVED IT! Kira is an amazing character who is not wimpy like most girls are and not afraid to go after what she wants no matter who don't like it. She is a new girl at school and she falls for bad boy Tristan even though her new found best friend Luke warns her to stay away from Tristan's group but says he can't tell her why.

Tristan I immediately fell for myself (swooning here) and took a liking to regardless of his warnings to Kira that a relationship between them ca...more

Let me start off by thanking Kaitlyn Davis for the awesome opportunity of letting me read her book. I am definitely look forward to 'Simmer' and any other books from Davis.

This is a jewel that is waiting to be found. I didn't know what to expect so I was pleasantly surprised to learn that this wasn't a typical vampire book. 'Ignite' was a vampire book with a twist! Davis has created a new breed of vampires unlike any others I've read so far.

The plot flowed amazingly and the characters were rela...more

What we have here is a different kind of love triangle. Kira comes to South Carolina to live with her family after years at a boarding school in New York. She has to fit in at a new school and make new friends in a place where she has only spent summers. She is quickly integrated into the group of other newcomers meeting Luke, Emma, Dave and Miles. They become friends but she is also fascinated by a group that her new friends call the Misfits. The Misfits seem equally fascinated by her and begin...more

I love prologues that steep the story in a mysterious, tantalizing tone. A teasing snippet that fuels your hunger for more. That's what Kaitlyn Davis did with the prologue of Ignite.

I found Kira to be likable, she catapulted the story forward by being fiercely determined, smart, witty, and fun. The other characters were just as enjoyable, but I have to say that I was disappointed in Emma's (Kira's friend) character. She had moments where she...more
