A story in 3 parts about the 100/year war in Europe. Its about a girl who always wanted to see France. But once she escapes the cluthes of her father, a flemish merchant, she finds herself in France in the middle of a war. France doesnt seems as beautiful as she imagined. She finds a friend, and later a lover in Berton de Fleur, a Bard. They get involved in the war deeply, and the 3 books are about them, their family, and the ending of the 100 year war. A beautiful series, much more then a child ...more

Thea Beckman is my favorite dutch author so far. I love all of her books that I read so far. I really like that in this book Robert the dwarf is someone who everybody thinks is useless, but in fact he's a great spy. I think it has a great plot and wonderful descriptions.
