While filling her display case in her bakery, the bell over the door sounds and Tessa O’Hara looks up and sees the man of her dreams. Within thirty seconds he asks her out for a beer. Thirty seconds later, she says yes. But after four months of falling in love, she discovers he’s an undercover DEA Agent investigating the possibility she’s involved in her ex-husband’s drug...more

I really enjoyed reading Wild Man; however, it didn't capture and hold my attention like I hoped it would. What I did like about this book was the...more

Wild Man had a different vibe to its predecessor Mystery Man but I've gotta say that I really, really enjoyed it. And no, not simply because it's another KA. It really touched me with its subtlety and I loved how it had such focus on Brock and Tess (H/h) and the solidity of their relationship. It also had lovely use of light and shade, there were cute kids in it (KA does GREAT kid) and when the characters spoke to each other it really meant something.

Brock was another hot alpha: protec...more

Picked this up again now that I have a few other KA's under my belt. Reading this on the heels of Sweet Dreams just wasn't fair (the cast of characters are very similar).

So, onward...

3.5 stars for Wild Man.

Recommendation right off the top: I believe you will enjoy this book most if you read it before Sweet Dreams and after Mystery Man. Neither of which I did. If I had, I bet I would have given it a higher rating.

"I can't make any promises about where this is gonna go but what I can do is give you me, keep you safe while you walk on the wild side and work my ass off to do what I can so this never goes bad for you." ~Brock Lucas

Oooo Kristen Ashley does it again! I loved Brock and Tess' story! I loved how FUNCTIONAL they were as a couple!! Its always SO refreshing to find book couples like that. Ones who talk through their issues, don't let stupid things come between them and are open and hones...more

It took years for Bakery owner Tessa O'Hara to be willing to try dating again, but the moment she sees Brock Lucas her hesitation goes out the window, he is the man for her. He has an edge to him that is undeniable, blunt way of speaking but there is a softness that overcomes him when he is with Tessa that has her feeling safer than he has ever felt in his life. After four months of dating she is ready to take the next step, but that idea is shattered when she finds out Brock is not who she thin...more

5++ stars.
I gotta say, this is my favorite book so far of KA. After reading Mystery Man which was just ok for me mainly because I didn't like Gwen, I was leery to read this story. I am happy to say I am so glad I have read it.
I loved that Brock and Tess were older. These two really were perfect together more so than any couple I've read before. After a rocky start and I gotta say I didn't much like Brock at the beginning, they were rock solid. They always had each others back and never wavered f...more

I’m moving to Colorado. Being a Brit, I’m not entirely sure I know where it is exactly. Up from Texas, in the middle, left a bit?? Anyway, I’m definitely going because, according to Kristen Ashley, it is packed to the rafters with Mega Hot Uber-Alpha guys just waiting to be snapped up by their forever girl. Now, where’s that green card application………………….

So Wild Man – this is Brock Lucas who we first met working undercover as a DEA Agent back in Mystery Man. He’s again working undercover trying...more

What I liked:

1. Tess owning a bakery.
2. Brock.
3. Brock and Tess's relationship. It was cheesy but beautiful.

What I disliked:

1. The beginning was slow and it took me nearly 40% to truly get into the story.
2. Brock acting like every other hero of KA's with very few distinguishing characteristics.
3. Tessa being a curvy blonde in her forties. Brunettes and redheads in their twenties or early thirties clearly don't exist in KAland.
4. The writing. I know I should be getting used to it with each KA...more

What did I think?

Welp, it's like taking a drug. A very bad for you drug. And you're mad at yourself the entire time for being weak.

Yep. It's just like that.

Getting back to this particular book...it's got a more tempered hero than the last few. He didn't have to "force" her into a relationship as in other books. In fact, the relationship in this one started so very quickly and smoothly that there was no tension in the book at all. At least, regarding the two MCs. None. It was an "in the life of"...more

Tess said to Brock:
"You're a manly, macho, rough, wild, hot guy kind of sweet but you're sweet. I'm a mountainous swirl of frosting with a moist, rich cake as my core but you're smooth, delicious dark chocolate that tastes good from the second it hits your tongue and makes you want more the minute it melts away."

Wild Man starts right off in the middle of Brock and Tess's story. Tess is having sex with "Jake", and she is totally clueless about his identity since he's working undercover as a DEA A...more

Thinking Tess will be one of my fav lead females from Kristen Ashley. She’s equal parts strength and sweetness and when the going gets really rough she gets her power back and is impressive as she comes out kicking and screaming. Romantic drama here at its finest. Brock/Slim and Tess’s relationship holds strong and rides the wave of ups and downs through all that life throws their way, a mountain of family relationship issues and a twist of suspense. Brock, of course, is KA’s usual hot, hot alph...more

I love Wild Man. For the moment, Slim is my favorite KA hero. Now that will probably change when I visit Tanner, Tate, Tack, or well any KA hero. Well here goes....

Tess is a freaking amazing heroine. She is my all time, hands down, winner for heroine of my heart winner. She is sweet, sassy, and so so so loving. Tess was married to an asshat. When I say that, I mean ASSHAT! She had to live through a life of shit to get to her dream man.

Loved this story. It took me a little longer to get into this story than it did with "Mystery Man", but I definitely got there. Kristen Ashley's gift is that you get pulled in and when you do it's so unique to each book and that's because each book has characters who are unique, with unique problems and circumstances.

Tess & Brock as characters are really special, and you feel it from Tess right away and with Brock it takes a little longer but when you get it, You. Get. It. Unlike many of KA'...more

I loved this book. Obviously. It's Kristen Ashley. With that being said...I should probably review all of the Rock Chick books along with Mystery Man and Motorcycle man...but I'm not lol. I started this book a few months ago when I first "met" Kristen Ashley and was turned off by the fact Brock used fuck a fucking lot and it drove me fucking nuts ;). But seriously...it did. I finally said screw it and picked it up again and holy hell. I immediately realized why I fell in love with Kristen...more

The second book in the Dream Man series by Kristen Ashley. A great story and wonderful characters, Wild Man is Brock Lucas and Tess O'Hara's story. Brock met Tess while on an undercover op to get information on her and her possible involvement in her ex-husband's illegal activities. Somehow, Tess is able to forgive his involvement and they begin a new relationship. I have the same issues I have with the other books, editing, language and 1st person POV but other than that a solid read. It's not...more

So here I am again - trying to describe a book that was great on story but still hard to read because of technical aspects of the writing that my shoulda-been-an-editor's brain cannot get past.

Tess O'Hara is the owner of a cake shop who meets Brock Lucas while he is undercover for the DEA and using a fake name. He is actually investigating her to see if she is involved with her ex-husband's nefarious dealings. When she finds out, she drops him, but three months later he returns to get some answ...more

4.5 This was another great book in the Dream Man series. At first I was afraid it was going to be a lot like the first one, the Hero, not the story, but several chapters in, Brock was his own man and I fell in love with him. Brock and Tess are another great couple I truly connected with. They dealt with a lot of crap on both sides but KA did an excellent job of bring it all around for a fantastic HEA. AGAIN, the supporting characters were a huge plus, and Elvira is one of the funniest characters...more

Good job Tess O'Hara doesn't sleep naked. After being woke up in the middle of the night by the DEA who suspect her or helping out her ex-husband's drug empire, being caught naked would have been the icing on the cake. When she finally escapes though, her horrible night turns into a hellish one when she sees the man she has been dating for four months and thinks she might just be in love with with his DEA badge and realizes he has been playing her.

But Brock Lucas hasn't been playing her...more

Not a lot of action but I enjoyed the couple. Both were in their forties which I could relate to and it was a nice change of pace. I could definitely appreciate their no games no bs attitude with regard to life and their relationship.

This was a good story with a fucking great epilogue!

While I admit I liked the first in the Dream Man series a lot better than WM - just because WM started a little too slow for me - this book does hold its own. Especially with the drama... a lot of heavy drama.

The story

The story starts off sweet, gets very dramatic... a lot more dramatic than the first, and you meet a hell of a lot of characters, some of which you start finding it hard to recognise by name :/.
The drama is intense, the moment...more

I was really excited to read this book. The glimpse that you get of Brock in Mystery Man was enough to spark my interest in him. I thought it started out really good. Brock and Tess already having strong feelings for each other, but then you find out Brock is not actually who he says he is. It was an exciting beginning.

BUT, I think Tessa gave into him way to fast. He came back and told her enough was enough, yes he lied to her, but his feelings were real. I just think Tessa should not have caved...more

This was such a wonderfull read :) Although in the Dream Man series this one always comes last whenever there are comparisons, after reading it again, I really don't know why, it was just incredible! I think I liked it more now than when I first read it.

For starters, I LOVED the fact that they are both older. They're mature, don't fight about stupid shit, they have a problem, they work it out. Aside the one big fight they had at the beginning, that was it. Always something happening, and they al...more

Ok. I`m in love. That official. I mean I thought I was in love when i read first book about Hawk, but now I am madly in love with Slim. He`s a total Teddy Bear, turning into a grizzly when things go bad.
Plot is very tight and put together very well, though I think it was just too much troubles for one couple to solve.Tess is strong and her will to live to take all good from life is admirable and I think that she deserves every smokin`hot inch of Brock, though I`d kidnap him for my secret lair w...more

Smokin' hot bad for you Brock had me at the 1st kitchen scene. WOW was it intense. Another great book by KA. Did not disappoint. Brock is up front with what he wants and to the point. Loving KA descriptions "Brock informed me in a deep, sexy, sleepy, rough whisper"

Brock like all of KA Heroes are not big on dwelling on mistakes they make with the heroine. It happened lets fix it and move forward. To Brock a promise is a promise no matter what it is or about. I wish Tess would of let Brock grovel...more

Tess and Brock have a incredibly sweet love story, and I love both of them. My reasoning behind the three star is their age. For some this probably doesn't take away from the story, but it is difficult for me to relate to people twenty years older than me. I did my best to pretend they were younger. So my only complaint is one of a personal nature and has nothing to do with the writing or book itself. I thouroughly enjoyed Wild Man, and fell in love with Brock. Not as intense as some of Mrs. Ash...more

Tess is a wonderful down to earth character who doesn't play games. She makes this book beautiful because of this. To me this book is all DRAMA and not a lot of action. And there is not one thing wrong with that it just made this book seem a lot different than a lot of KA books. I enjoyed watching Tess and Brock's relationship play out, and how she gets along with his boys. Like all KA books this one is funny and exciting but it also made me cry a lot. This is another one of my favorite KA books...more

“You scared, baby?” he asked.
I didn’t repeat my “yeah”, I just nodded.
His arms got tighter and his voice got thicker as I felt his neck bend and his lips say against my hair, “Don’t be. There’s a wild that’s fucked and there’s a wild that’s just, plain wild. You just hooked yourself to a different kind of wild, Tess, and I swear, baby, swear,” his arms squeezed before he finished, “I’ll show you that’s a good, safe place to be.”

This is my fourth Kristen Ashley book and while the previous three did not rock my world and I am far from being a KA convert, I understood the hype and totally got why people devour her work. The previous ones I read had this Mary Calmes hint to it that I know firsthand is hard to say no to.

This one, though. This made my heart hurt. Not in an I'm touched by the sweetness way but more in an Oh my God they wrote a book and made my ex the hero in it way. I wanted to burn this. Almost di...more

“He raped me, Agent Calhoun, he hit me but he didn’t kill me. As long as I’m breathing,
I’ve got fight in me and luckily I’m breathing.”
It was at that he whispered, “You aren’t like a lot of women.”
“Yes I am,” I whispered back. “I’m like all women. You see this but inside there’s
something else that I won’t let you see or him see but it’s the mess he left me. But that’s
mine. No one gets to it. Everything you get and he gets is a show. One thing you learn really
quickly and really well when that kind of thing happens to you is to be a fucking great
actress. You don’t have a choice in that because a man like that does something like that to
you, you lose having choices. The only choice you have is what role you intend to play. I
picked my role and that… that Agent Calhoun is what you see.”
