Book Review - Fearless by Eric Blehm

Biographies have been a solid staple of my reading diet for the past few months. Looking deep into the lives of great people is educational, inspiring, and helps me become more of the person that I'm created to be. For most of my life, I dreaded reading the biographies that was assigned to read, or given by friends and families. But recently, I have discovered that learning from the lives of others has incredible benefits for my life.

Last night, in tears, I fi...more

Fearless tells the life story of Adam Brown which leaves you in awe of the man and all he conquered in his lifetime. Adam lived life to the fullest and overcame obstacles with his steadfast determination and belief in God. Adam was able to reach his full potential with the unconditional love and support of his family and wife. He was a man that exemplified integrity and practiced what he preached. Adam veritably left a legacy and will always be remembered. Fearless leaves such an impression to b...more

Wow... wow.... wow! Done and everything from halfway through is even more so now.... Love it! Gives me even more pride and gratitude in our Military and Allied Forces...

More than halfway through... I could hardly put this one down last night... I have found that what touches me the most lately in what I am reading is where the story is based on a true story.

I want more from my library than my occasional "wonderfully written" romance novels (and there are sooo many great ones, that I just have...more

Full disclosure: I did not want to read this book but when a member of my book group suggested it twice I said I'd read it for her. I know our politics are different; I know she's fiercely proud if her Navy pilot son (as she should be) but the mindset of a SEAL team member just didn't appeal to me. And as another reviewer said "this book was like eating a dry sandwich." There was far too much telling and not enough showing of what made Adam Adam. I feel like if the story was told more in the mom...more

This book was a biography of Navy SEAL Adam Brown, written by Eric Blehm. The book accounts Brown’s experience posthumously based on accounts from family and teammates, as well as Brown’s own personal writings. I tend to gravitate toward first-person memoirs, but this one interested me, and was recently published, so I thought I’d give it a shot.

Be prepared when you pick this book up to cry. You will definitely cry. Adam was an amazing person, which was o...more

Fearless by Eric Blehm chronicles the life of Navy SEAL Team SIX Operator Adam Brown from his childhood in Arkansas to his final mission in Afghanistan. His early life and noble character are shaped in our minds through stories of his home life, friendships during his school years, and then choices that nearly destroyed him and landed him in jail. His acceptance of Christ began his turnaround. Much attention is given to the grueling training at each level of service, missions, setbacks and his c...more

Some people believe that heroes are born.
Others believe that heroes are made.
A few believe that certain individuals are destined to become heroes.

What do you believe?

After reading the story of Adam Brown – an American patriot and Navy SEAL who overcame incredible odds to serve his country and, ultimately, sacrificed his life in service to a cause he believed in and a country he loved – I cannot help but think there is a bit of truth in each of those theories.

Fearless by Eric Blehm is the true st...more

Fearless is the life story of Adam Brown, a member of the Navy Seal Team SIX who gave his life in Afghanistan a year before his team participated in the successful raid against Osama bin Laden’s compound which resulted in the terrorist’s death. At the request of his family and his surviving team members, this is a full biography, starting back with how his parents met and his rather boisterous childhood – complete with jumping off bridges. Along the way, his life was derailed by drugs, but betwe...more

Fearless by Eric Blehm is a story of redemption and love. The book is a biography about the life of Navy SEAL Team SIX Operator Adam Brown. One of the highlights of this book is that it tells the bad and the good of a national hero who gave his life for this country. If you only read about the first twenty years of Adam Brown's life you would see the sad story of a kid who fell into all sorts of trouble and eventually ended up with his parents seeing him arrested. We are blessed though to read t...more

Fearless: Best Book of 2013?

The Good: The Story

Adam Brown’s story of going from a normal kind, to what looks like totally screwing up his life to a Navy SEAL Team SIX operator, to a lover of a wife and kids, to a hero – THIS IS A MUST-READ. This may be the best book to come out in 2013. A sub-plot is true story about the love of God that never stopped pursuing this messed-up man.

I found the author’s note in the Afterword most interesting, “Adam’s story stands on it’s own. . . his story has cont...more

Incredible story about an incredible man. Adam Brown was the very fabric of which heroes are made. Fearless, courageous, resilient, undaunted, humble, God-fearing, Christian, caring father, husband, son, brother, friend... the list of positive adjectives goes on and on. The title is not hyperbole, it is indeed the descriptive term most apt to describe Adam Brown's life from a very early age until his untimely death at the hands of Taliban and Al Qaeda terrorists.

The demands, rigors and very fun...more

This book is not your typical SEAL story, although all of them are inspiring examples of great men that sacrifice more than we can imagine to honor the patriot blood that runs through their veins to protect this great country. This story about Adam Brown is that and so much more. In the end, I could summarize that this book is about love. Love of a forgiving and strengthening God, love of a great woman, love of country, love of family, and love of the SEAL brotherhood. Love. Not a word that you...more

Everyone has been hearing about the Navy SEAL novel "No Easy Day". I personally think the guy who wrote it may have put himself and family and other SEAL team members in harmsway.

I am going to tell you about what I think about Adam Brown (Navy SEAL) and this biography that was written about him. He started out as a high school athlete, lost his way and got hooked on; coke, crack, meth and almost anything else you can think of. He was arrested several times because of the drugs. After two years h...more

Fearless was a gripping story of love, devotion, and courage. Although I thought I knew a great deal about drug addiction and what it took to overcome it, I learned so much more. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who has a family member who is fighting a similar battle. Eric Blehm has give the reader a detailed and truthful picture of Adam Brown--his victories and his faith, as well as his demons, all wrapped up in a page turning story. As a bonus the reader is taken into the world of...more

I was interested in this book because I like to read about the military. And I was in the US Navy years ago. I was not prepared for what I read.

This autobiography (which I don't tend towards reading) was a beautiful example of both military pride and God's love. Adam's story is filled with defeat, humiliation, huge success, and abundant love.

The story of a true child of God that we all want to be. I will not spoil the story by stating specifics (you really need to read it), but Adam's life start...more

FEARLESS is typically a book you would find men reading. For some reason, I am drawn to stories of men who have sacrificed their lives or given their service for our country through the military. This is Adam Brown’s life story, from Hot Springs, Arkansas, and it has touched my heart in a million different ways. He was proud to be from the state of Arkansas, which you will see as you read through the book.

As it states in the book, Adam was born three minutes after his twin sister, Manda, and it...more

"Fearless" by Eric Blehm is the true story of Navy Seal Adam Brown who was killed in Afghanistan in 2010 leaving behind a wife and 2 children. It is a story that not only shows his whole life with no holds barred, but also encourages us to live our own lives fearlessly. He was a Christian and lived out his faith - showing us how to be warriors in the true sense.

Even though I expected to be moved by the book (he does die, and you know that going in), I didn't realise the journey it would take me...more

When Navy SEAL Adam Brown woke up on March 17, 2010, he didn’t know he would die that night in the Hindu Kush Mountains of Afghanistan—but he was ready: In a letter to his children, not meant to be seen unless the worst happened, he wrote, “I’m not afraid of anything that might happen to me on this earth, because I know no matter what, nothing can take my spirit from me.”

WOW! Thats all that comes to mind. Alot of military memoirs (especially SEALS Books) spend the first 5 chapters covering BUD/S Training. If you have read books before you often get bored with reading the the same breakdowns of how hard, tough and grueling the training is. I am NOT taking away from this at all as these are warriors. Fearless brings you into WHO Adam really was. From a goofy kid, prankster and respectful child to his dark days battling addiction and jail time. To read about someone...more

One of Adam Brown’s final wishes, written by hand on his CACO form, was that his spiritual testimony—his complete story—be told, including “my life before I met Jesus Christ and Kelley.” You can appreciate now just how fearless Adam had been when he requested others to share that dark period [of drugs and addiction] from his past. Even in death, he selflessly and publicly risked tainting his own legacy so that others might be inspired to seek faith and overcome their own struggles. Excerpted fro...more

***If you only read one book this year, make it this one in honor of this courageous SEAL!!!

Eric Blehm, New York Times and Wall Street Journal bestselling author’s new release, “Fearless” arrives Tuesday, May 22. It’s an amazing narrative about “SEAL Team SIX’s most legendary operator,” Adam Brown, a member of the same SEAL team “… counterterrorism unit that took down Osama bin Laden…”

Although “Fearless” is Adam’s story, it’s also the multifaceted story of an elite, little-known, fierce brotherh...more

Love, strength, caring, fearlessness, faith, dedication, selflessness, these are all qualities that Adam Brown possessed. As a Navy Seal he epitomized the American warrior. Of the many stories that could be told of the Seals, his comrades invariably pointed to his story as the one they would like told. He was no saint. He would would be the first to admit he had his faults and his demons. Shortly out of high school, he became hooked on drugs, after he failed to find a direction for his life. He...more

Adam Brown's life ended in an isolated military clinic in the mountains of Afghanistan, his body riddled with AK-47bullet holes from Taliban militia. However, Adam Brown's legacy lives on, described in his biography by author Eric Blehm. The book, Fearless ,released today (May 22) is a moving account of the struggles, redemption, and sacrifice of Adam Brown.

Adam Brown was a Navy SEAL operator serving in Afghanistan with the elite DEVGRU team, otherwise known as SEAL Team Six - the group that too...more

This book set out to accomplish two things: 1. tell the story of SEAL Adam Brown who made the ultimate sacrifice and 2. show the human-side of SEALs. In these objectives, this book rates 5 stars in my opinion. Adam Brown was a truly remarkable individual that sank to crazy lows but then righted himself to become one of the most elite warriors in the world as part of SEAL Team SIX. His story is truly inspirational. One of the best parts about this book was that it gave a view of the human-side of...more

Last week I received a copy of a book called “Fearless” by Eric Blehm to review. Little did I know when I started this book that by the end of it, I would be moved to emotion like I rarely am. This book is a game changer on so many levels. I honestly won’t be able to find the words in this review to express how much I wish people would get a copy and read it for themselves. It is the remarkable story of one man, his story, his struggles, his humility, his family, his addictions and oh, by the wa...more

I so enjoyed this true story of Navy Seal Adam Brown. The word 'amazing' is over-used these days, but it fits him and his life to perfection. I borrowed the audio version from my local library. I enjoyed the narrator. My only criticism is the voice he used for Kelly which was more of a southern style whisper. It did not convey the strength and commitment of her character.
After reading this I have nothing but complete admiration for any and all U.S. navy seals. Their heroism and sacrifice for our...more

This book will blow your socks off! I was sent this book to read and my 17yr old son who is considering a career in the military, snagged it and started reading it while I was finishing another book. He said it was pretty good but started kind of slow and read like a documentuary, but he wasn't very far into the book yet.
Now for my take...I agree a bit with the documentary and kind of slow beginning. I was surprised that it went so far back into history. But once the story got moving, while the...more

I don't know what more to say other than this was not only an excellent story, but the author did a wonderful job telling it.

I take it back, I do have a couple other things to add... Adam Brown was the kind of person that inspires others around him to want to be better people. This is not because he was a perfect person himself, far from it actually, but he tried, hard. In his efforts he motivated those around him to strive harder to become all they could. People like Adam Brown make me proud t...more

“Modest, conventional expectations weren't enough to lure Adam Brown away from the power of drug addiction that ensnared him. Instead, the college dropout already in his mid-twenties found only the big, near-impossible dream of being a Navy SEAL captivating enough to consistently draw him to different choices.” 2 people liked it
