This is a GREAT, FANTASTIC book filled with action and drama. When you start, you won´t be able to put ot down. It bewitches you from page one and every question is answered with another question. Until the end, which is a freaking cliffhanger!!! OMG, the ending! It freaking killed me. I have not been this engrossed in a supernatural book series since Twilight. Thank God book 2 is out and the third is on its way!

I loved the authors writing style. It compelled you to the point where you just wanted to keep reading. I loved the characters. I loved simply everything abot this book. And now I only have one question, why on earth have not I read this before?

The story revolves around Scar (Tristan's nickname for her is just too hot to ignore!), Tristan (green eyed twin) and Gabriel (brown eyed twin)
I really liked Scar, she was sarcastic and funny and didn't jump to conclusions too quickly like some.
I loved her meeting with Gabriel at the kissing festival !!! -for Scar this is 'like Valentine’s Day. On crack.' it was different from anything you see in England and actually sounded fun! Her meeting with Gabriel and their blossoming love was nice but my heart was already possessed by the hot guy sporting a black tee and baseball cap who was staring at her at the kissing festival( TRISTAN ).

Gabriel was really charming at first but for some reason he came across as a little selfish.. but i think i just over analysed some stuff. He's definitely boyfriend material and someone you would snuggle up with and watch a movie.

but Tristan, his sexier green-eyed twin, is the sort of guy you'd have a hot make-up session with on the coach and totally bury the tv remote. He's sarcasm and 'keep Scar safe' thing is heart warming and i feel myself start to hate Gabriel for touching his girl! Scar's connection with Tristan is deep, really deep... the sexual tension they share is so hawwwwwwwt it makes me wanna scream and pull out my hair in a bid to get him to kiss her already!!

His relationship with Gabriel is sooo... (a word that means you just wanna smile!). Their little banter while Gabriel spies Tristan's truck full of weapons was really funny and made me forget my frustration on who the hell the creepy stalker was.

Everything about Tristan wanted me to swap places with Scar sooo much.. especially her description of his bed. 'The post screamed man while the bedding whispered woman' --- c'mon Chelsea Fine you are killing us here!!!!!! her writing is so wonderfully hypnotic i want more... need more..... like RIGHT NOW! and the ending... [okay i am trying to write this without giving the plot away ( i realise i haven't done that successfully at all)] OMFG what is the ending supposed to mean.... does she die? Is the curse broken? where the hell is the fountain? argggggggg please hurry Ms Fine!!!!!

When i read finished reading this book, all that came to mind was "OHMIGODOHMIGOD" I seriously was dying to get my hands on the next one. I loved it so much i had to tell someone about it so i woke up my cousin and told here about the whole novel. Seriously. The forbidden romance, and the love triangle, the crazy, witty bestfriend, and the boy, in my book all equal to a great novel! So if you enjoy romantic mysterious books, go buy this one! XOXO

What an awesome story! It was so beautiful, kind of a beautiful sad. The characters are in pain, but you still love it all the same. The originality of the story line hooked me from the very beginning and kept me up well past midnight!

OMG!I cannot believe it. I finally found a YA book that is not stupid, with a weak plot, and doesn't have a meek, idiotic heroine and a stupid love triangle. Plus its premises are really original. I usually loath love triangles that involve brothers but the one in Anew works wonderfully. In a way it reminded me a bit of the love triangle in Infernal Devices.

Chelsea Fine did an amazing job weaving a beautiful (but tinged with sadness) story about a mysterious girl who knows nothing of her past but her name, Scarlet Jacobs.

I was completely engrossed with ANEW. This book is on third-person narrative of multiple characters, that's Scarlet, Gabriel and Tristan. Characters were great, they have actual depth and personality. I was mesmerized by their story and anxious for them. And man, the love triangle, it was refreshing and so good, well executed. One thing I don't like about Scarlet was she can be a kill joy sometimes (cant blame her though, not having a memory at all suck) but a great strong character nonetheless. And this twins Gabriel and Tristan were so cool and funny and sexy! Gabriel is a sweet, jolly guy while Tristan is a broody, mysterious kind of guy, its because he has a reason to be, I adore him. Loved it when the brothers bicker with each other, and also Nate and Heather such a cute and great friends.

Plot twist was great and unpredictable, mystery has kept me from guessing, the storyline was more of revealing the curse, and Scarlet meeting the boys, the complicated love, pain, life and death and a great friendship and a little bit of memory flashbacks. Great for para and romance lover. But there's still some questions that needs answers and I guess it would be on the second book .And the ending! OMG breath-taking! I cried! It was a good darn CLIFFHANGER! I really want more! *dies*

The whole mystery behind Scarlet's amnesia and how it's all slowly getting revealed, her crazy fun friend Heather, plus two hunky boys that want to save her, kept my eyes glued my kindle all through the night! Entertaining, romantic, and filled with emotion, Anew is an excellent beginning to this series. The characters a lively and interesting, the plot is filled with secrets, and I couldn't turn the pages fast enough! The story is told in the three exciting POV's of Scarlet, Gabriel, and Tristan.

Scarlet was fun to read, especially since she's almost always with Heather, her crazy fashionista friend who is just hilarious. I think Scarlet deals with her amnesia and the revelations really well. Thank goodness for heroines who don't just break down into a puddle of useless crying goo. Gabriel and Tristan were just a treat to read, a delicious and yummy treat. The only thing they have in common are their looks (well and their love for weapons other than guns), in everything else they are complete opposites. While one is sweet, cute and carefree, the other is dark, dangerous, and angry (but not in a cliché way). Tristan has a valid reason for being that way, and boy did it break my heart! My mind went blank and I stopped breathing for a moment when he revealed his plan. I didn't like Gabriel as much because he never seems to be taking the curse that seriously, always saying they have time when they really don't. I also don't think he really loves Scarlet, and I mean to REALLY love her.

My one and only complaint is that (damn it) the ending was a cliffhanger! Gah. Now who knows how long until I can immerse myself into Scarlet, Grabriel, and Tristan's lives! And believe me, there is reason to come back after that final scene! So go out, or click the links above and go get yourself a copy of Anew because you want to know the story of the Archers of Avalon.

The legend goes that when a pregnant woman drinks from the Fountain of Youth, the fetus will have an eternal life. Gabriel and Tristan - twins, was not aware that they were the end result of this. They didn't know they were immortals until one fateful day when the town's witch, jilted by Gabriel, decided to kill Scarlet. But Tristan, having had deep feelings for his soon-to-be sister in law, tried to be a hero and jumped in front of loose arrow headed straight for Scarlet's heart. The arrow pierced Tristan's heart then went straight through Scarlet's. Dipped in immortal blood, the arrow was not only fatal, it also had the power to bring Scarlet back to life - in another place and in another time. Her life becomes a progression of living and dying and never remembering her past life until the Archer brothers break the curse. I think I'm going to leave it at that. This was my favourite element to the story. The legend of how it started, and how Tristan's soul always crave for Scarlet. Chelsea spun this tale so intricately and wrapped it up in one, thrilling, heartbreaking romance.

But there were so much more to this book. The basic gist is that Scarlet's life recycles in numerous lifetimes being torn between the two brothers. And you all know how much I loathe love triangles. Chelsea Fine did this remarkably well, however. Aside from a few times when Scarlet suffered from self-loathing for feeling so much about the cantankerous Tristan, I did not have the inkling to yank my hair out of frustration. My only problem is that Gabriel's character seemed to diminish as we go deeper into the story. He started off really swoon-worthy and then as we learn more about Tristan, it seems like he faded into the background. At the same time, I think it was the author's intent to actually sell Tristan as the bad, gorgeous, selfless brother. The one who had loved Scarlet from afar but had to stay away because in their past lives, she was always meant to be for Gabriel.

The characters' relationships were heart breaking, both literally and figuratively. Without giving too much away, Tristan's soul literally crave for Scarlet. The author's writing described his emotions really well. I am thoroughly convinced that Tristan is the highlight of this book. He has an admirable self-sacrificing hero personality that he covers well with boorish attitude. It's all a part of his charm and what makes him the ultimate bad boy in my books.

I do have some minor complaints. There were some typos, editing mishaps (BALLING instead of BAWLING, three commas instead of ellipsis, and a semi-colon was used instead of an apostrophe). These are eensy, weensy mistakes that did not deter me from enjoying the book. I was switching from paperback and Kindle edition and have found the same mistakes in both but seriously, this book is still all kinds of awesome. I'm inclined to say who cares but that would make me a hypocrite. I am also a bit disappointed that Scarlet's 'guardian' is ALWAYS, always, away on "business". What's up with that? Oh well, it would probably be explained on the next books.

Overall, Anew is an ingenious take on immortality. Chelsea Fine crafted a fantastic story woven with reincarnations, curses and deep, selfless love. The best part of this is the recycling story of the love of two brothers for Scarlet, one forbidden and the other, destiny but no matter how it ends, someone's bound for heartache. (less)

Meh. I give this one a 2,5 stars rating. It's really not a bad book : I enjoyed the writing and (some) of the characters (namely Heather and Tristan, the latter being the main reason I kept reading, I thought that Gabriel, the main "love interest" was boring) but I felt like nothing of real significance happened. I have to admit I absolutely LOVED this book! I'm a huge fan of the supernatural and having not one but two hott twin boys who happen to be immortal, HEAVEN! I read this book once before, but got so involved in reading so many others with my friend I stopped blogging and writing what I thought and felt on the books! So to get back to that I decided Anew should be the first one considering Awry, book 2 in The Archers of Avalon Series, releases tomorrow! SO EXCITED BTW! Anyways back to the book!!

As far as cliffhangers are concerned (and depending on how you feel about them), this book has one of the best/worst cliffhangers I have come across in a while. It definitely has me eagerly waiting for the next book! If you are not a fan, I would advise you to wait to read Anew until the sequel is released.

While the story itself is amazing, the best part about this book is the characters. The reader cannot help but connect to Scarlet. She has many qualities that I really appreciate in female characters: courage, strength, and the ability to throw some awesome comebacks in a pretty boy’s face. I felt her confusion as she attempts to piece together her past and learn who she is, and I felt her emotional turmoil as she struggled with her growing affection for two brothers. One of the brothers, Gabriel, is an all-around nice guy burdened with a curse that will forever haunt him. His love for Scarlet runs deep and true, and he really cherishes her. Tristan, on the other hand, is the bad boy in their little family. He is dark and mysterious, and even though he hides his true self behind a rough exterior and a mouth that constantly spews insults, he also really cares for Scarlet. (view spoiler) He is a tortured soul, never able to have the one thing he wants the most, and my heart goes out to him. (In fact, he reminds me a lot of Will from The Infernal Devices series by Cassandra Clare.) I am definitely rooting for him in this love triangle! I do like Gabriel, but I will always cheer on the dark, tortured man. I guess I am one of the reasons the saying “nice guys finish last” remains true, but I seriously cannot help it!

I have to commend Fine for her well-written and well-developed love triangle. Very few love triangles are well done. In fact, most are downright torturous. I still think even good love triangles are emotionally grating and frustrating (usually because the guy I like never ‘wins’ and they are chocked full of drama), but at least the men’s proverbial ego wars are absent. I already mentioned this in my review for Clockwork Prince, but I seriously hate it when men fight over a girl through insulting one another, battles of physical prowess, and other creative ways of trying to claim the girl as their own. I think in this case, these ‘contests’ would have been even worse than usual ones since it is a love triangle that involves brothers (I hate when siblings fight). I like the fact that Fine does not include these unnerving elements in her love triangle. It makes the love triangle more bearable (for me, anyway), and it really improves the story instead of hindering it (*coughWingscough*).

Overall, Anew is a WONDERFUL book, and you should definitely check it out if you haven’t already. I am eagerly anticipating the next book in the series, Awry, which will be released sometime in 2012 (the exact date has yet to be specified). I cannot wait to see what happens after the cliffhanger! The only thing I ask is for, Ms. Fine, is no cliffhanger in the next book! Please! Do not make me summon Conan again (his service fees are ridiculous).

I loved this book! What a great and fun story. The writing is sweet, fun and flirty. You get caught up instantly in Scarlet's life and the secrets of her past and why she has amnesia. You are instantly hooked!

There are several different characters that keep you completely entertained. You've got Gabriel and Tristan who are hot as haites and different from night and day and a best friend named Heather that keeps you laughing. I myself am I complete Tristan fan!!

This book was ABSOLUTELY AH-MAZING!!!!! There was a love triangle and This love triangle is hurtful, beyond sad, loving, desperation, unknowing and unexpected.... BTW I loooved Tristan! Who wouldn't love a man totally ready to die if it meant his woman would have shot of happiness!

WHAT'S WITH THAT CLIFFHANGER? OMFGGGGGG

First off, I want to let you know that this is incredibly original and it makes you REALLY want to know what it's all about. It might drive you nuts and make you impatient about it, but it's there. You really want to know what all the secrets are and who she really is.

However unique, it does remind me a bit of Fallen by Lauren Kate. With that one concept that's in the story.. (you'll see).

This book wasn't absolutely terrible (obviously, all you have to do is look at the average rating).

But this book just wasn't for me.
I had trouble following along with the book.
The way it was written made it difficult for me to tell whose viewpoint I was on and that also made the book kinda of...well... boring to me.

The other thing I would like to bring up is... the plot.
The plot reminded me of Fallen by Lauren Kate which is a book that i'm not a big fan of.

Of the digital YA romance/paranormal I've come across recently...Anew is the one with the most professional writing. Loved the snappy, sarcastic exchanges between the two Archer brothers who both hide secrets about high school student Scarlet's life. Love the sassy character and dialogue of BFF Heather. Another brother love triangle? Really? That's sick. But at least it was a strange triangle. It just annoys me that all these stupid female protagonists have no problem destroying family ties. It's disgusting.

Although this book was cheesy and extremely immature, the plot was really good. The subplots could use a little work, but they weren't half bad either.

This trilogy was pretty amazing. There wasn't a ton of fast-moving-action but enough to keep it exciting (more of it in the third book). Oh. My. God.

Anew might be one of the most engrossing books I've ever read. I mean, seriously, you can't go wrong with hot twins and immortality. This book kept me up all night reading, and now my neck really hurts, but it was worth it. So, totally, worth it.

First off, let me just say that I'm really glad that I started reading this series after all of the books came out already. After that ending, I can' t even imagine waiting a whole year before being able to continue. I would literally go out of my mind. And maybe have a countdown.

The storyline was really well thought out, and really intriguing. Now, I'm not usually a fan of love triangles, bed cause there's always the guy (or girl) who is definitely wrong for the main character, so I pisses me off when the heroine (or hero) is like, "who should I choose?" Not in Anew. Tristan and Gabriel are both such likeable, perfect people. I could see the similarities between them, but I also liked how one was dark and tortured, and the other one hopeful and well, not happy, but whatever. I totally understood Tristan's conflicting feelings for Scarlet, and how much Gabriel loved her.

One problem about this was wondering whether Scarlet and Tristan would still be drawn towards each other if his blood wasn't inside her. It's just sort of bugging me about if they would still love each other if they were actually completely normal people. If they end up together, I really hope Chelsea Fine has a better excuse than just "oh, he's a part of me". But they totally should be together. Just saying.

Is it just me, or does Laura seem really creepy? I mean, I'd love to have such a cool guardian, but it seems like she knows more than she's letting on. Maybe the trips are actually covers and she's searching for the Fountain? I hope she's like good, though, and not an evil bitch or anything.

I liked Heather, although it's not likely that all she had to say after everything was- no wonder you dress bad. I know I would seriously be freaking out. Also, her text speak got on my nerves, because it doesn't feel natural speaking like that, but it's probably just me.

It was an awesome book, the writing was decent, the story was amazing, and the romance was sooooo sweet. I would definitely recommend this to people who like paranormal romance and hot guys. Now excuse me, but. ow I gotta go read the next book.(less)

I took a gander at the synopsis of the first book, Anew, and figured that looks pretty unique and decided to give it a go! A few clicks later on Amazon and voila! There it was!

Scarlet Jacobs woke up alone in a forest, unable to remember anything past her name. Fortunately enough for her, there was someone nearby to take her in. Fast forward two years later and Scarlet has carved out her own comfortable little niche in the small town of Avalon. She goes to high school, sorely lacks fashion sense according to her B-F-F (we’re gonna have to chit chat about that text speak…Meg does not do text speak) and has a pretty wealthy, inattentive guardian named Laura who buys her pretty things and then disappears for weeks at a time to travel the country on business. Okay, so far, we’re obviously deep within the world of MarySue (aka, boring heroine who is like fifty billion other heroines of current popular literature) YA novels. Okay, I can deal with that. Mary Sues aren’t always that bad. So, continue on!

Well, then we’re introduced to the Kissing Festival. First off, ew. Secondly, EWWW! Apparently, in Avalon they hold an annual weekend long festival where everyone just runs around making out with everyone else. First concern, hasn’t anyone here heard of mono? Secondly, there are STD’s of the mouth. HELLO PEOPLE! Thirdly, the day my parents are okay with me (let it be noted that I’m in my late 20′s, this is just an example on if I was still a teenager. I’m not) running around at a “festival” in high school and making out with strange boys would be the day they die, because that’s what they would tell me. “You can go to that festival over my cold dead body.” Apparently, in Avalon, parents are a-ok with kids running around and making out with each other on the streets. Apparently, the parents join in and do the same. EWWW EWWW EWWWWW!

Okay, enough of that. Anyway, back on track here. So Scarlet goes to the Kissing Festival with her B-F-F Heather, who seriously needs to learn to spice up her vocabulary with real words instead of saying everything in text speak. I spent the duration of the book wishing I could punch her in the face. Well, then there’s a strange boy in the woods watching her and Scarlet starts to feel like she might remember something. Cue curiosity kills the cat music. She creeps closer, and closer, and there’s a tingling in her brain…she may just start to remember, there’s a memory RIGHT THERE! Oh, but then super hot boy steps in and shadow boy by the woods disappears and Scarlet becomes a bumbling body of hormones who can’t see past a pretty face.

Cue the entrance of Gabriel (the super hot boy who intervened in her trip to shadow boy by the woods) and his identical twin brother Tristan (shadow boy). Okay, now this is where I have to step up and say my interest was piqued. Turns out Gabriel and Tristan are immortal, but not by any crazy angel or demon or vampire or witch methods. Nope, their mama drank some water from the Fountain of Youth when she was pregnant with them. Well, apparently the Fountain of Youth does not make one immortal, however if you are pregnant, your baby will be immortal. They’ll grow until they “die” only, they wont’ die, and they’ll be frozen at that age pretty much forever. However, as the plot unfolds, Scarlet is only semi immortal, because Tristan took an arrow for her 500 years prior, which penetrated his body and pierced hers, which polluted her body with his immortal blood. She can die, but she comes back. Or some such strangeness. And the result is drama. Crazy drama. I like crazy drama. Crap, I just re-read that and now the plot doesn’t seem nearly as good……it seems kinda silly….

Now, this is where it gets really tricky for me. I’ll be honest, I could red pen the hell out of this book. I bought it straight off of Amazon for my Kindle. I didn’t get it from the publisher or the author or anything, which sometimes books that are sent directly from the publisher/author may not be the final copy and may have errors. But to purchase a book straight from Amazon and it be riddled with errors? Not a good thing at all. Then, tie in the fact that there’s very little character development or plot development, and I find myself even more disappointed. The characters and the plot never really moved past the beginning. We just learn the basics, and then, well…it’s all googly eyes between Scarlet and Gabriel and “I hate you” between Tristan and Scarlet, and then “OMGOMGOMGOMGWTFLMFAOLOLOLLOLLOL” from Heather for the rest of the book.

However, despite the fact that I want to punch the characters in their pretty little faces, and that I hope and pray the author or the publishing company fires their editor, I do have to say this is a pretty awesome little plot. Poorly executed so far, but it has the basis for being a really intriguing and original idea compared to a great deal of whats out there now. I like the idea of playing with the Fountain of Youth legends, but I just wish the author had really done a better job in execution. (less)

MacKenzie lucks out and her custody is awarded to Laura, a young, very successful business woman, who give MacKenzie everything she could need or want. She’s also got a fashion obsessed best friend named...more Scarlet woke up two years ago in a forest outside Avalon, Georgia, with no memory of anything but her name and a symbol that she repeatedly draws on her shoes, paper and even herself (personal pet peeve, I hate it when characters doodle on themselves; especially like she did later in the book). She’s also got a fashion obsessed best friend named Heather, who refuses to ever let MacKenzie wallow in the fact that she doesn’t know who she is or why she was left in that forest years ago.

At the annual Kissing Festival, she sees one young man who, though she never gets too close to him, seems familiar, something that has never happened to her. She also meets a gorgeous guy named Gabriel Archer, who she feels comfortable with and who she's, of course, attracted to. They start going out and Gabriel is the perfect boyfriend, except he doesn’t seem to share anything about his family or past with Scarlet, and Heather, who has seen him with a shady looking character in the a seedier part of town, thinks he’s hiding something which, of course, he is. One of the big things is his twin brother, Tristan, who Scarlet is really drawn to, which surprises her.

I don’t want to give away any of the little things that Scarlet finds out about Gabriel, Tristan or her forgotten past. I thought this was heading down Reincarnation Alley, which I absolutely hate, but it was something different, which I was very glad about. I thought the storyline was interesting and original, though there was something that, for me, was lacking. I think part of it was that, at times, it read a little younger than I thought it should have and, while there were several twists, they were mostly pretty obvious early on. While I liked Scarlet, there were times I found her inner dialogue and constant battle about how she wanted to lick Tristan up one side and down the other, really annoying. I get that she’s supposed to be attracted to him and I understood why; I just didn’t need hit over the head with it at every turn, and it took away from the story for me. Though the insta-attraction to both Archers did make sense, I still found it grating.

Another thing was, there wasn’t a lot going on, though it seemed like there should’ve been. The action that did happen came late and kind of out of the blue, with another character that seemed tossed in as an afterthought and never had any explanation. I was also wondering if there was more to Laura than met the eye, (view spoiler).

Overall, I did enjoy the book and the characters, it was a fast, light read, but I’m glad I got the eBook instead of paying a lot more for the paperback. Like I said, I just felt that something was missing, I didn’t have a real emotional connection to anyone (except maybe for Tristan, I did like him). Scarlet definitely could’ve been a little less angsty mopey as a character and it just seemed like the book needed something more. Since it’s only a couple of bucks, I will probably pick up the second book (this one did end on a decent cliffhanger), though I hope there’s more depth to the next one.

Most of the time, it's just a push and pull between the three characters, where the woman (because it's always a woman in the middle, right?) doesn't decide until the very end, almost as if she made up her mind using a coin toss. And most of the time, authors don't know how to write a convincing love triangle, where you don't end up hating the main character and you don't end up only on one team. Not to mention how tricky it is when you're dealing with two brothers vying for the same girl. After reading some of the reviews on Amazon, I still wasn't convinced I'd like the book. I mean, the good brother vs. the bad brother? It's cliched.

The beginning of the book started off a little slow for me. But I kept going because I was really intrigued. The little bits and pieces of explanation thrown in the beginning chapters had me itching to read further so I understood what it all meant and how it came together. I like that about a book, making me want to keep reading because I just have to know what happens next right this minute.

Aside from the few grammatical and spelling errors, I loved this book! It was better than I imagined it would be. It had me laughing, crying, and my heart ripping in two for the characters. I thought the pace was set nicely, and that it kept pulling me in even when I wanted to scream in frustration because I didn't know what was going to happen. And the ending had me screaming: WHAT JUST HAPPENED?!

If you love suspense, the paranormal, romance, and fantasy, you'll love this book. It combines all those elements, with a beautiful love triangle that will have your heart melting in a puddle.(less)
