Ho aspettato con ansia la traduzione di Elena Cantoni perché la narrativa va letta con l'emisfero giusto, a maggior ragione Hughes che richiama una serie di suggestioni letterarie nelle quali si immerge e restituisce gocciolanti del suo stato d'animo.

Abbiamo lasciato Chives, sì perché è lui la star, ne Il disgregatore astrale in uno stato di prostrazione in cui prevalgono la sciatteria e l'incuria di sé, dissociato, apatico.

Non posso farci proprio niente, io questo tizio l'adoro. Fosse per me, lo assumerei per scrivermi le liste della spesa, gli impegni settimanali, gli appunti di studio e di lavoro, pure i post-it, con il solo vincolo contrattuale di usare sempiternamente questo suo stile. A short, wacky, utterly hilarious read where logic is applied to the illogical in a spectacular way. It features Sampietro Mischief - this slightly pompous, mad but brilliant investigator and his pet monster, an accurate reflection of its owner. I loved how Hughes can take something absurd and somehow make it make sense. The play on that old wives' tale ("if you grimace, the wind will change and your face will be stuck like that forever") was perfect - my Mum harped on about that one! A perfect...more
