Irish immigrant Molly O'Brien has earned quite a reputation in Delight, Wisconsin. Raising four orphans all on her own certainly hasn't helped. Nor has the fact that she's just taken in two strangers with serious gunshot wounds, planning to nurse them back to health. There's just one problem. One of the men is an outlaw and the other's a federal marshal-and if she doesn't ...more

First Impression: Cover. This takes place in the 1880s with a gritty marshal, not a 1990s ranch hand.

Story: Abysmal. No real romance, a naked man falls on her and she falls in love with him because he doesn't rape her in the night (middle of the book). The details of ranch life and the character interactions are what kept me going.

Plot: Who could the bad guy be? We will just tell you so all the mystery is gone (beginning of book).

Summary: Just a bad novel in terms of formula following and wom

This one was a struggle. It was just too formula for me...way too formula.

You have a woman (the heroine)

She's raising 4 kids who aren't her own -- so she can be a virgin when the hero has sex with her.

You have a hero who just wants to retire in a far away city and have no responsibilities.

You have a bad guy who wants to kill the hero.

It can be any time, any place, any genre.

A good story set in post civil war Wisconsin. It has a few tedious moments in the story-line, but that's fiction.
