This book is a direct sequel to Ice Queen and is not intended to be a stand-alone title.

Some stories can't be contained between the covers of just one book. In Ice Queen, Tyler helped Mistress Marguerite fulfill the mentoring requirement The Zone club imposes on all its Dominant members, to learn about BDSM from the submissive's perspective. Though Marguerite is one of The...more

Tyler is determined to battle Marguerite's demons.

Tyler wrote Marguerite the most beautiful love letter. This is a very short extract thereof.
Dearest Marguerite:
You've taught me a great deal about stillness. About the many things that can drift into your mind and heart when you shut down the barricades created by noise. Unexpected gifts of insight, revelation and wisdom. (…)
But you ta

He was going to win her as often as he needed to do so, even if it was a quest that took forever, that had to be begun every day. Until death do they part.
Even weeks later as I sat writing this review, I was fighting back the tears that I had no control over while reading this book. Mirror of My Soul is probably the most gut wrenching story I’ve ever read. There were times I was so saddened by the life Marguerite had to endure, both as a child and as an adult, that I didn’t think I could go on...more

5 Heart-wrenching stars!!

Out of suffering have emerged the strongest souls; the most massive characters are seared with scars. --- Kahlil Gibran

Mirror of my Soul picked up right where Ice Queen left off. Tyler had just endured a brutal beating from the hands of Marguerite and the both of them had to deal with the aftermath. Will Marguerite be able to learn to let herself embrace Tyler's love for her? Will Tyler continue to endure in his devotion to the woman who is determined to shut him out?

What a finish to an intense story of two tortured people!

Tyler used to be in the Special Forces or maybe the CIA. It's not stated explicitly but it is mentioned that he used to do undercover work for the government. He retired from that but continued the adult film-making business that was his cover. Ms Hill is careful to make sure I'm not conjuring up images of sleazy perverts preying on young kids when I think of Tyler producing tasteful porn though some people will call it smut. That's what t...more

OK. So a few things: Some people will HATE this book. There is serious violence here, pointless revenge violence, too. Children are put at risk and traumatized. And that's not counting the BDSM stuff. There are no whippings, though.

Others will despair bec the prose is extremely purple, as in talk about The Soul, Destiny, God, Good and Evil, Desire, spiritual practices and beliefs. You know, capital letter feelings. And others will be offended/turned off by the subject matter. There is rape/ince...more

Warning: This review might contain what some people consider SPOILERS.

Rating: 9/10

PROS:
- Extraordinarily deep and multi-dimensional characterization. This book and its prequel, Ice Queen, contain the most complex characters I’ve ever encountered in a romance novel, erotic or not. And every action, every habit, every thought, and just about every word out of the characters’ mouths is consistent with the sort of person performing/saying it.
- Tyler is one of the most mouth-watering male...more

No pude contenerme .

This is a sequel to Ice Queen

So, we're back with Marguerite and Tyler. A lot has happened, she finally realized after a serious breakdown, she doesn't want Ty as a sub, but as a Master and things are falling apart for her. Her reality is re-defining and she's not sure what she wants... And he knows what he wants-unconditionally, irrevocably HER.

The Ice Queen

Marguerite has been through some of the worst things life has to offer. She has suffered abuse, watching a loved one die, and she...more

So, so, so, so, so good! It's hard for me to not think of this and Ice Queen as the same book since they are in essence two parts of the same story. I really don't think I have ever fought harder for a hero/heroine to have a HEA. I laughed, I cried, I screamed, I got pissed off. I went through every human emotion possible, and all I can say is wow.

There have been very few books that have affected me like this, and I truly believe that these two books will be ones that I although I can't bring my...more

“People tell their children there are no monsters in the world. They tell them that because they believe it, or they want the child to feel safe. But there are monsters, Luke, all the more frightening because they look like people.” ~ Honest Illusions

This quote has been haunting me for fifteen years already. And every now and again I find another moment where it fits. Unfortunately.

After reading Ice Queen I came away feeling somewhat cheated. I was going to avoid reading Mirror of my Soul because I resented being dumped off in the middle of the story and forced to buy a second book to read the conclusion. Well, I couldn't bear it - I bought the book- read on and I am glad I did.

It isn't often that I give a book 5 stars and I don't give this book 5 stars because I felt it was perfect. Mirror is longwinded and covers the love life of a few too many characters but the author...more

'Mirror To My Soul' starts mere sentences after 'Ice Queen' ends. Marguerite has just completed a session as Mistress over Tyler which has ended with Tyler bruised and bloody. Although he acted as Marguerite's submissive and bares the wounds of his decision, not once during the entire time was he not in control. Tyler's eyes continuously proved with every locked stare that he was and always would be Marguerite's Master.

The psychological breakdown that Marguerite experiences and of which was ult...more

This is the continuation of "Ice Queen", Book 3 in Joey's Hill's Nature of Desire series. It features the same characters and picks up immediately on the story line left between Marguerite and Tyler from the previous book. I was surprised that I enjoyed this book more than Ice Queen, including the unexpected twist in the story line that provided an element of suspense, but also closure and understanding for the characters. There is a happily ever after, and by the time I got to the end, I was sw...more

This book is a continuation of book #3 in the series. I didn't write a review for the other book because I was sooo invested with Tyler and Marguerite.

I can say that this book touch me deeply. There are things that made me want to grab the characters and hold them and then there were times when I wanted to throw my tablet. I mean come on, how many animal references can there be in one book? That was the only down fall for this series to me.

One might think that the author played hom...more

There is always a light in the darkness as one begins a Joey W. Hill story; just out of reach, but a beacon of hope, a destination goal if you will.

Ice Queen is probably the poster-child for that concept. Both Marguerite and Tyler come from some dark places, though I believe its safe to say, Marguerite is the rock to Tyler's paper or scissors!

This is an interesting journey in that both Marguerite and Tyler have embraced a Dominant role in their lives. In fact, the two of them are somewhat like s...more

I got this book at the same time as Ice Queen and I'm glad I did. They probably should have been one book, told in two parts. The first half of this book was kind of boring but the second half was great.
I would give Joey Hill 5 stars for the masterful way she handled the story of healing and rebirth of a person who had been tortured and damaged beyond what most people can bear. But I can't give the story 5 stars because it didn't hit me that way. I had to wade through too much verbiage to get t...more

Even more intense than the first book about these two characters. This one definitely made me cry. I thought it was a good conclusion to the story of Marguerite and Tyler. I wish there had been scenes with them at The Zone with her as the submissive. Also, I could've done without the "angelic" scene at the very end of the epilogue. I wanted that epilogue to be just about them, but it included another character in what I thought was unnecessary. Good story though. Joey Hill is very good with word...more

FYI....you really need to read The Ice Queen (NOD #3) before reading this book. That being said...I find it hard to recall any book I have read in recent years that features two people who deserve an HEA more than these two characters. You can not help but cheer for these two as they experience soaring highs and crashing lows are their way to true love. This book leaves you with the feeling that almost and obstacle can be overcome. Joey W. Hill does it again....in one of her most powerful books...more

Where do I begin? Hill's books all interweave with each other, giving the reader a sense of a complete universe that includes the Angels, the Witches and the Vampires. No, the Nature of Desire series in not paranormal, but elements of her paranormal characters show up in the least expected ways. It is the relationships in a D/s world. Mirror of My Soul is the fourth book, continuing the story of Marguerite and Tyler, started in Ice Queen.

Marguerite is a Mistress who keeps herself aloof and isol...more

A personal note:
I found out that some authors can captivate me no matter what I’m going through in life. Joey W Hill is one of those authors and in December, when I read Ice Queen and Mirror Of My Soul, I was immensely grateful for that! One of the main reasons I was compelled to read these connected books was the fact that Marguerite is the sister of David who is the leading man in A Witch’s Beauty (my all-time favorite read of JWH) His story was also a 5 star read for me.

The story in a nutshel...more

Incredible. A heart-wrenchingly, deeply beautiful book. You must read Ice Queen first, and preferably the first two books in the series as well. It will help you, as the couples all appear in this one and I'm glad I understood each one's dynamic. Marguerite seems to be on her way to understanding she has both a need to be a Mistress as well as be Mastered by the love of her life, Tyler. She fights it furiously though, and all the past that she suffered through is exposed in great detail. There a...more

This was just too purple in it's prose for my liking. Everything Tyler said was all poetic & it made me cringe. It was just too, too much.

Normally, I find, Hill can make even the most outlandish situations have a real life authenticity b'c of her dialog. It will resonate with me in some way so I can find it believable (& often beautiful) in some way. Not this.

I felt like I was watching that sensitive man scene in the movie Bedazzled w/Brendan Fraiser, "I caught sight of that sunset and...more

First of all - if you have not started reading this book yet - you MUST read Ice Queen first as Mirror it is the continuation of that story. They aren't really even two books, but one long book broken into two parts - like intermission in a long movie. You will not fully understand what is happening in this book if you don't read Ice Queen first.

That being said - This review is for both books. This is one of those stories that you think about weeks after. It was an incredibly rich and emotional...more

This was good, but not great. It's been a couple of weeks since I read it so my memory is not that fresh, but while Ice Queen was more of a long, drawn out introduction to Marguerite and Tyler, after reading Mirror of My Soul, I found that I enjoyed the former a bit more than the latter.

I felt like the emotional connection between Marguerite and Tyler was stronger in Ice Queen. Also while I enjoy reading about kinky sex, I prefer it out of the club and between the two lead characters....more

This is the powerful conclusion to the love story of Tyler and Marguerite, so heed the warning above - you MUST read Ice Queen first. Since I just wrote a more lengthy review for that one, I'll try to be brief and say this was unforgettable and everything I could have hoped for. This is erotic ROMANCE - to say that these characters are soulmates is an understatement. Marguerite's horrifying past is revealed, and truly, she's the most damaged heroine I've ever read. But yet, she's also one of the...more

There was a lot of emotional turmoil in this book, more character development, than in Ice Queen. However, it was less enjoyable. I cried, I cursed, but I had some trouble believing it. Not the aspects that were sort of outside the realm of believability to begin with, but in their relationship. If I were Tyler, there's no way I'd have put up with the crap that Marguerite put him through. I felt for her, but I didn't like her. Makes it kind of hard to want her to find her happily ever after.

This book had it all. Spirituality, sex (yes they can go together), romance, love, and BDSM...It had me crying tears not only for the things Marguerite had to endure but for the unconditional love that Tyler had for her... I cried for the hurt that comes when someone pulls that rug from under your feet, and I cried for that joyous feeling that there is ALWAYS someone there to catch you (literally in this story)... SIGH.. this book reminded me why I read... LOVED IT!!

While there where some good moments I just felt after all the trauma the psychological control would of taken more work, even though glad I finished the story but there was no need for two books, cut some of the secondary characters and one would of been fine.

I was looking forward to a new author whose books I would read one after another it's not Joey Hill, although I m glad I read these two and I don,t plan to read any others.

I wept. I wept like a baby more than once throughout this book. Oh it was heart breaking. I love writing like this. Writing that will grab you by the heart and squeeze and squeeze until you're gasping for breath, wiping your nose with your wrist (sexy) because to move would disrupt it all.

I’ve always had an aversion to reading, watching or hearing interviews of favorite actors, authors, musicians, etc. because so often the real person doesn’t measure up to the beauty of the art they produce. Their politics or religion are distasteful, or they’re shallow and self-absorbed, a vacuous mop-head without a lick of sense. From then on, though I may appreciate their craft or art, it has so...more
