Selina Fenech (Goodreads Author)

Reading the emotions of people around her is easy for Livvy. When an earthquake strikes her city, a supernaturally attractive group of rescuers show her that her power goes beyond that. She’s now one of th...more

First of all, I just want to say a huge thank you to Selina for sending me my copy of Emotionally Charged!
I can pretty much sum up this book with one word: WOW.
Emotionally Charged has an interesting concept, intriguing characters, and a twist in the tail that works so well. I think it can be very easy to get lost in some paranormal stories where a swoony girl ends up falling for a boy with a secret, but not many of them manage to link in to reality beneath the fantastical elements. This story, o...more

Wow. I haven't lost myself in a book like that in months. I loved the twist and the ending. I'm very happy that I have Emotionally Scarred to go read now, and cannot wait for the next one. I love how wonderfully Selina writes, how she sinks you in, makes you feel things. Her ability to cause a range of emotions in her work is incredible. I laugh, I get angry, I cry. I connect with and care about the characters. They are flawed and human. Livvy's imperfections make me like her, her mistakes make...more
I won this book as part of First Reads here on the GoodReads website.
This is actually the third book that I have won, and the third that is self published. The difference between this one and the others, though, is simple: Selina actually can write and this book is a really enjoyable read. It is aimed at young adults, and although it is not a genre I have that much interest in (Paranormal Romance) the quality of the story telling and the likeable nature of the main character soon won me over.

This is the first Novella I have read. I wasn't sure what to expect (other than it would be shorter than a complete novel). I expected not to know as much about the characters and for the plot to move quickly.
The first chapter was difficult to get into. I wasn't entirely sure what was happening (I sort of wish that I was either told there had been an earthquake or the it was part of the conversation.) I also had trouble getting a good start with the main character. I didn't find her likable at f...more

Details, details, details, a whole lotta what this book was missing. There was no storyline setup or background on it. It was just basically as is.
There was promise though and it could have been better but it wasn't horrible. I read it in two hours with minimum skimming. The romance between Livy and Dean was almost as obtuse as her and Jake. I think Livy should had more substance to her character. She was sort of boring and naive but I guess thats what the author was going for. The whole book se...more

After an earthquake, Livvy discovers that she is an empath and can gain power from other people's strong emotions. Then she is discovered by a group of teenagers like her. They live an extravagant life taking what they want from other people, particularly after natural disasters when emotions run high. Livvy must decide what kind of life she wants to lead and whether or not she can use her powers for good.

A young girl finds she is an empath when a group of young people convince her to come with them and join their elite group, making her feel special, wanted, 'alive.' This group appears to be living the perfect life and they draw her in blindly. By the time she discovers they are not as they seem, she feels trapped and alone except for a boy she met who is a 'blocker'...I absolutely loved the idea for the story. The execution fell short with too many unrealistic 'leaps of faith' on the part of Li...more

This book wasn't terrible. The main character wasn't particularly interesting. She was just a completely boring person, who was the sum of her actions and really nothing else. There is also the fact that the blurb and the beginning of the book make it seem like this is a superhero book. Like some alternate Universe where there were superheroes. But after like the first page, heroes become purely metaphorical. as in "Heroes are good people who help others, even if they have no powers".

I have to say that I really liked the premise of Emotionally Charged. You have Livvy who seems like your typical teenager but with one exception, she can tell what people around her are feeling. She's never told anyone about that fact because she just wants to fit in but at the same time she's bored with her life. She craves romance, excitement, danger. Really she wants to be a hero and be appreciated. When an earthquake hits, her adventure begins.

Livvy is normal. Normal in the outside and inside. Her dream is to have something interesting and extraordinary happen to her. When an earthquake hits her town she is certain that this is what she was waiting for. She can even feel it. At the same night she gets rescued by a dreamy guy that looks like a superhero and enters the world of the Empaths. But Livvy is about to find out that all that glitters is not gold and that when there is no superhero around, you are the one who has to save the da...more
I received this book as an ARC and i'm so glad that i did. This was the first time i read a story about Em paths. This was a great story with so many layers to the characters flaws and good traits. The story was fast paced which kept me going and wanting to read more at about what was happening to the characters. I do feel do like something was missing and that the story kind of finished too soon and that there were like some questions not answered like what happened to Emma, and what was going...more

This was a very nice twist on your average empath story. I loved it. It filled my Saturday afternoon with complex characters, and a wonderful knew paranormal element. I adored the supernatural feel to the powers and the twisted way the baddie used them. This was an exciting read, full of fast paced thrills, chills, and bittersweet love.

When I started reading it was just "huh?, "is she really that freakin' gullible?" and "damn! what is it with beautiful guys with shit load of charm and mystery?". And it was fine when it got to the middle, Livvy was a weird character and Dean was coolly mysterious. Hope it would be lovely when it came to the next book! XD
I really enjoyed this book. It is a quick read and it is very entertaining. I really enjoyed the main character Livvy. She has to make a lot of tough choices in the story. I can't. wait to see what happens next with Livvy and Dean. My only complaint was that I wished it was longer. Keep up the great work Selina!
Emotionally Charged is a young adult Paranormal Romance. The story is about a young girl that discovers she has unique powers, and when she finds a group with the same powers she immediate forms a bond. Although, she quickly learns that they have far more differences than similarities. I have had my eye on this book for some time, but I regretfully did not find this book as exceptional as I would have liked. As a romance I expected a more powerful read, and I hope to see Selina potential advanc...more
This book was really, really good! It's not very often you see a new twist on Empaths and, even though some twists fail horribly, this one doesn't. It's that good twist that makes this book so enjoyable to read and the fact that Livvy realizes that most of the time you have to save yourself or you won't get out of the situation. I hope Livvy and Dean last and I hope that rotten chick that took off gets it, just like the other three did. No way should she get off easy when she was part of it too....more

This was a quick read, in fact it seemed a little too quick.
I kinda of wish that there was more details, info, etc.
Other than that this book was fine.
It wasn't bad, it wasn't amazing, but it was okay.
