One Shot by Lee Child

It started out slowly, building up to when Jack Reacher arrives on the scene. In fact, after reading several pages I wondered if it was a Reacher novel, but when I skipped ahead a few more chapters his name showed up.

So I settled back to build up my anticipation, reading about the crime that shook the medium-sized midwestern town, the criminal investigation, the killer’s misfortune in the county jail he was being held in and his subsequent trip to the hospital, the prosecuto

When I learned this book had been adapted to a movie, I purchased it, started reading and realized I had read it before. Even so, I reread with interest.

In this Jack Reacher story, a man is charged in what seems to be an open and shut case of mass murder. His only statement of defense is "Get Jack Reacher." Jack arrives, not to help, but to bury the former military sharpshooter who committed murder while serving his stint. Afraid of a scandal when the four murdered men where found to be involved

I didn't read all of these books, but I read his first three of this series. I liked the first one a lot and was excited about reading others. But. It seemed like it was the same pattern time after time. Reacher wants to be left alone and be a nobody, and then he gets caught up in an adventure. The adventures are very different and mostly interesting, but the formula seemed the same to me. Perhaps he changed it up after a while.

The Persuader is one of the best Reacher novels. This review is for The Persuader. I like the way the book expands and details the opening events. Of course you have to accept the fact that Reacher has "superhuman" powers at time. Reacher is the homeless (by choice) hero who remains undefeated, perhaps scarred in battle, but never loses the war.
We need more Reachers.

Still reading through this series. These books are my ultimate, mindless escape from the real world.

I don't understand why this system will not let me enter that I have just read "The Hard Way" by Lee Child. I did enjoy this Jack Reacher novel.

Hephaestus Books publishes print-on-demand compilations of Wikipedia articles -- not original works. Caveat Emptor.

If you feel that doing a free search on Wikipedia is not worth your time compared to paying someone to print out Wikipedia articles for you, then these books may be of interest.

Works titled as "Novels of [Author], such as [novel1], [novel2]..." are very arguably deceptively advertised
