I just adored the first book in the Sally Sin series (Original Sin, as did everyone to whom I recommended it. So I was quite surprised to find out that the second book was only available coupled with the first in a compilation called Spy Mom.
Now this was fine with me because I am the type who re-reads earlier books in series before proceeding to the next, but it doesn’t seem to bode well for the future of the series. And it really is quite entertaining.

I picked up the first book in this series by Beth McMullen last year (Original Sin) and had been waiting for the second book, Spy Mom: The Adventures of Sally Sin (you can now buy them together as a two-book set as well). It was out in time to take on vacation, which was just perfect. These books are a fun combo of mom lit and spy lit. Sally Sin is a Bay Area semi-sarcastic stay-at-home mom with a toddler (who becomes a preschooler in the second book) and a husband. She also has a past as spy. W...more
Spy Mom is actually two full length books, 610 pages in all, Original Sin and its sequel To Sin Again. Both feature Lucy Parks Hamilton, aka Sally Sin, an irresistible character combination--half a tough, smart former spy who can still dispense with a gang of teenage would-be carjackers on her own, and half a totally devoted but overwhelmed mom of a rollicking preschool age son.
In Original Sin, Lucy's son Theo is three when she is forced out of retirement to deal with a spy case from the past. W...more

Number 1 is that I hate that I had to buy the first book again as I originally got that one for 99 cents and now I had to pay 11 bucks. However, that's irrelevant to how I feel about the books so ignore that as my own personal gripe. Anyway, I really enjoyed the first book when I read it the first time around. It was a fun story and easy to read. The second time around the holes really showed through. The story is pretty preposterous and the characters are poorly written. Will is boring and anno...more
This book is actually two in one. The first book was released last year as Original Sin. I've reviewed it before, and I want to mention it was my top book of 2011, out of 169 books read. It even held up well for re-reading.
The second is To Sin Again, which hasn't been released before. I loved it almost as much as the first book, and for pretty much the same reasons.
Both books have a great spy story, spread out between Lucy's recollections of her days as Sally Sin and the unwelcome intrusion of c...more

Wonderful second book of the Sally Sin series. This time the story brings to light more of Sally/Lucy's backstory. Neatly done, the story has a sub-plot involving Lucy & Will's search for the "right" school for son Theo, as Sally secretly works to release the director of the spy agency she retired from the clutches of the people who have kidnapped him.

OK, I just downloaded this book on Tuesday and was done by Wednesday. I love Sally Sin! These are such fun books and they keep you wanting more. In the ongoing saga of Sally Sin we learn a little more about her background, her parents and where she came from. However there are still enough loose ends for you to say "I want more!" In book 2 Sally's son is now 5 years old and quite precocious. How she struggles to be a good mom and still save the world is a riot. She keeps getting pulled back into...more

I want to win this book, as I read a bit of the first and I love the on the edge of your chair, just one more page before I go to bed book.I would desperately love to win this book! It sounds like a can't put it down til the end, leaving you in dire straits for the sequel!
I started watching the new series on TV 'Missing', and this book is one of the genre category books I love to not put down. I can imagine Ashley Judd as Sally Sin/Lucy Hamilton, like in the TV series, she is a 'kick-butt and as...more

Already reviewed the first of the two novels, Original Sin, last year. I had to pick this collection up to read To Sin Again, the second Sally Sin adventure. Lucy Hamilton's son Theo is almost ready for kindergarten, necessitating entrance interviews and worries about where she and Will will send him to school. The last thing Lucy wants to do is hear from Simon Still and dredge up more of her past life as (ex) spy Sally Sin. But with Director Grey's well-being in the balance, she doesn't seem to...more
Book Review & Giveaway: When Beth McMullen notified me that Book #2 in her Sally Sin series was going to be published, I got really excited. We reviewed Book #1, Original Sin, when it was published and I loved that book. I had been eagerly awaiting Book #2, To Sin Again. Then Beth clued me in that she planned to publish a 2-book compilation titled Spy Mom, to would include Book #1 & #2 for everyone who missed out on Book #1. Spy Mom's Sally Sin has a sarcastically witty and self-derogating personality that drew me in from the first page. This book was my guilty pleasure this month, and it fit the bill; it 's an easy read, propelled by comical characters that almost made me forget about the predictable plot. I like that Spy Mom ultimately represents every working mom's struggle to integrate family with career.
While the first in this series was barely three stars, this second book is fully three. For some reason, I found this book much easier to relate to as well as having more heart. There felt to me, a lot more emotional resonance and more at stake than the previous story. I did like it and am looking forward to the next installment.
I really enjoyed this book. Spy Mom is actually two novels, Original Sin and its sequel To Sin Again. I'd borrowed the first book from a friend, so I was happy to see that the sequel was being combined with Original Sin (that way I could own a copy myself). Spy adventure meets a tale of domestic mommyhood, but somehow this series manages to combine suspense and humor very smoothly. I would definitely recommend it to fans of imperfect but still butt-kicking heroines and folks who enjoy light spy...more

I picked this up in the airport ages ago and loved the concept of a double feature...
I enjoyed the first book, I've stalled out towards the beginning of the second but plan to finish it eventually!

This was fun, not to serious, and a great summer read. I enjoyed the characters, but felt the second book was a bit predictable. I liked the characters and the back and forth between past and present. I think the jump between the books was believable, she isn't a Mom who every day is pulled back into her old spy life. I like the development of the side characters especially Sam, and her neighbor, and I also would LOVE to know who the actual leak is (I have suspicions) I know I will be following...more

Beth McMullen used to have a normal life. Until she had kids. Then, everything changed. She has channeled her often hilarious and sometimes distressing experience with parenting into two novels that tell the tale of a life she is definitely not leading. The title of her upcoming release (Hyperion, June 12, 2012) says it all: Spy Mom, the story of a stay at home mom who used to be a spy.
