Naked Angel, the final book in the Blue Angel trilogy, is an emotionally edgy, sensually erotic novel. The writing is wonderful, and anytime I can be this easily swept away and made to feel like I’m part of the world, living the life like this book did, well… that's a great thing! More surprises were in store on the opening night of “The Painted Lady”, for after Mallory had finished her routine, Alec came out on stage, got down on bended knee and proposed before a rousing audience with Mallory saying “Yes!”It seemed to be a flawless night until the program came to ex-ballerina turned burlesque dancer, Nadia Grant’s turn to take the stage. Her movements were fluid and the audience was enchanted with the new performer until the moment arrived when she was supposed to strip---and she froze. Mallory tried to re-assure her that it often happens to new dancers and not to worry, but now Nadia is doubting her ability to perform at all. Naked Angel is the third book in Logan Belle's Club Burlesque trilogy. I did not read the first book of the series Blue Angel, but got hooked on this sexy erotic romance trilogy after reading the second book, Fallen Angel. However, I do not recommend that this book be read as a stand alone.

That's exactly what this series is, an erotic soap opera where the characters are either jumping in and out of bed with each other, lusting after each other, planning revenge, or going behind each other's backs to outdo the next guy/gal, all in an uber erotic burlesque setting. I love it.

There's the main couple Mallory and Alec, whose erotic romps and romantic ups and downs began on that first book and end with the trilogy. After going through their romantic woes in Fallen Angel, in this installment Mallory is trying to get their new burlesque club The Painted Lady off to a good start, while Alec decides it is time to ask her to tie the knot. Mallory is fine with the idea until Alec suggests that maybe Mallory should hang up her feather boa and pasties and stop dancing. Wha...???!! Is that boy out of his mind? Mallory loves to shake her booty, and didn't she give up law school for burlesque in the first place? What is he thinking?!

THEN Logan introduces Nadia, a failed ballerina who decides to use her dancing background to make a new life for herself by dancing burlesque. Unfortunately she meets Max, the owner of a small ballet company who thinks Nadia can do better than make a living as a burlesque dancer. They lust after each other and fall for each other, and although he can't keep his hands off of her still resents her job and makes an idiot out of himself. Ohhh the drama!

THEN, there's Violet Offender! Violet is the villainous dominatrix who previously had the hots for Mallory and then turned into her bitter enemy. She is sneaky, manipulative, underhanded, and a personal favorite. Of course there's also Gemma, a character brought to the forefront to play additional havoc with our cast of characters. I could go on, but to make a long story short, there's an affair, a divorce, a burlesque competition, some pretty twisted back stabbing, all while the steam rises and the erotic romps abound.

Mallory, Alec and Violet Offender are likable and memorable, although I would say that they are defined as characters only to a certain degree. Unfortunately there's just not enough depth there to make a real emotional connection with the some of the characters that play a central role in this installment. I'm referring to Nadia and Max. I found Max to be self-centered, domineering, and demanding with less than valid concerns, and Nadia too easily and suddenly agreeable to his demands, as well as unbelievably understanding.

My favorite aspect of Naked Angel, as with Blue Angel, is the setting. Logan Belle's wonderful world of burlesque is one of beautiful costumes, sequins, feather boas, pasties, and music where even the dances are described in fine detail. I also obviously enjoy the ins and outs of the characters' drama-driven lives and their erotic adventures. Fortunately Logan Belle ends the trilogy quite nicely indeed with plenty of that drama, a happily ever after, and some extra surprises. (I'm going back to read that first book I missed. :D )

Naked Angel is the 3rd in the Blue Angel series and follows directly on from Fallen Angel. However as in Fallen Angel there are a few new characters in Naked Angel. I kind of felt this could be a good or bad thing from my side of things. Although it did add to the story it emphasized how I felt about the rest of the characters and that is the lack of bond I felt with them. Through all three books I just haven’t been able to get an connection to Mallory. I didn't feel there is much to her personality, she never made me laugh and I found her quite bland. I just didn't feel she had much to give to the book. Alec, Mallory’s boyfriend, is a better developed character, I could see what was attractive about him and why Mallory liked him. However I never really swooned over him or fell for him.

The story line in the Naked Angel had good potential, I really liked the idea of it and at a few points I got into it. I just felt it missed that spark, the wow factor. I never struggled to put the book down and at certain points it really dragged.

Towards the end I got into the book, although I was never shocked by what happened I was able to get into the storyline more and enjoyed finding out what was going to happen. I found it refreshing how Logan didn't make the characters life easy, it wasn't a typical story where everything goes right and I liked that, it was refreshing.

Final Thoughts
Naked Angel is a good end to this series, I enjoyed the last 100 or so pages especially and felt content when I put the book down. I would have liked for it to be more gripping and some unexpected outcomes but as I said, it was a nice end to the series.(less)

Things quickly go downhill for the gang when their benefactor loses his money over a female. They not only stand losing the club but they have also lost the fabulous costumer to Violet Offender. Mallory knows that the only way to save their club is to win the Vegas Burlesque completion. With Nadia and Maxes help they have the perfect costumes and routines for the show.

Due to an injury Nadia has had to quit performing ballet. She and Mallory have been sharing rehearsal space for a while and Mallory offers her a chance to perform at The Painted Lady she decides to give it a try. She continues to struggle with her performances while Max feels like she is degrading herself when she performs. In the end she finds a compromise they can both live with.

This was a fabulous conclusion to the Club Burlesque trilogy. It pulled me in just as quickly as Fallen Angel did and I didn’t want to put the book down. It was packed full of emotion and I loved the fact that it wasn’t just about Alec and Mallory. We got to visit with some old favorites and we got to learn more about new ones. I’m glad that Violet Offender was in this book but not a primary focus, I like her but a little bit can go a long way with her.

Both Mallory and Nadia are going through several personal struggles with their relationships. Their men want them to quit dancing on stage but for different reasons. Mallory loves performing on stage and is thrilled to be running the club, she isn’t sure if she wants to quit dancing when she and Alec get married. Nadia can no longer perform ballet and it is killing her. She has so much creative energy and no outlet for it until Mallory offers her the chance to perform at the club. Even that doesn’t fulfill her like ballet did.

There are so many side stories all connected together that the author risks it being too much; in this case it just works. Each individual storyline has such an impact on the overall story that you would be missing something without them. Each person has ties with several other characters that it is obvious that we would be lost without them.

The story is well written and pulls you in from the beginning. It gives us a glimpse into the world of Burlesque, which intrigues me greatly. The characters are interesting and have complex relationships with one another and the ending was fabulous.

I love this series and highly recommend that it be read in order, however these books can be read as a stand alone. I enjoyed this series so much that I bought a copy of Blue Angel to read. I give Naked Angel 4½ Flaming Hearts.

I am glad I finished the series. Glad Mallory finally made up her mind and gained some confidence. Bette Noir stood out for me because she is a feisty character and I was sad for Martha.
