So apparently cupcakes are huge right now. The Cupcake Diaries books are flying on my shelves, so I thought it wouldn't hurt to look into some of the other cupcake-y series out there. This was a fun, not-too-heavy but not-too-light middle grade read with what looks like some excellent recipes (I'm dying to try the french toast cupcakes). I know Lisa Papademetriou mostly through her Disney fairies books, which I've always enjoyed, so I'm looking forward to seeing where she takes this series. If n ...more
Oh my, this book was totally awesome! It was about a girl named Hayley Hicks. Her parents got divorced. Her hobby is making up new recipes of cupcakes. She is very independent. Though later on her life takes a turn and her friend Artemis and Marco start ignoring her

Hayley is having enough trouble adjusting to middle school without having to deal with her father's new girlfriend, her mother's unemployment, or the fact that she likes one of her friends who is a boy... kind of as more than a friend. Her family has moved into her grandmother's apartment above her struggling tea shop, so Hayley spends a lot of time helping out, creating new recipes for cupcakes and trying to get her grandmother to realize that she has to keep up with the times if she wants her ...more

I really enjoyed this book. It didn't really have that "cant put the book down" factor, but it was still very good. I especially liked it because I can definately relate. I am a girl in middle school that loves to bake and has some serious friend problems. This story could relate to a lot of people because of all of the things that happen. I would definatley say that this book is worth buying even though it is a quick read. The only thing that disappointed me was that not every problem was resol ...more
nice little fluff book--quick read if you are looking for a no-brainer. slightly disappointing ending (just because the author doesn't really resolve all the threads), it was obviously left open for the next book Taking the Cake.

This was a great book. I recommend for any girls who like baking and/or are going through a tough time. Haley helps cheer them right up.
My mom and I love to bake, and this was a great book to read with her. The drama that the main character is deal with is what is happening to me in real life.
This was hilarious.
This is a good book but it leaves you hanging.

Its about a girl called Hayley. She loves to bake cupcakes. She lives with her British grandmother in the teashop as her mum and dad are divorced. Her mum doesn't have a job as each time she messes up the interviews. Her dad has a new girlfriend, Annie. She has 2 BFFS Marco, and Artemis (known as Artie, who is actually a girl). She forces Artie to go for a part in a play. Devon, who Hayley has a crush on, is also in the play. Artie and Devon spend a
The first book in this series is about a girl named Hayley who has hit a rough point in her life:her father, who is divorced, has an attractive new girlfriend, her mom has lost her job and has to mave her family into Hayley's grandmothers house, and her friends Artie and Marco are acting very differently. Luckily, Hayley sees one bright spot in her rapidly changing life: cupcakes! But will they be enough to sweeten her tough situation?

I really liked this book because it's about a girl with true

I really don't think of myself as a book snob but I did not have high expectations for this book. Maybe because of the cover (adorable, but kind of juvenile and garishly purple)? Maybe because I had acquired it so cheaply (a sale on Amazon for less than $3)? Maybe because of the overall theme (while I am a foodie, really good foodie books are rare)?

Regardless, I was delighted to find that all of prejudices were wrong. This was quite a good book, even for me, far outside the intended young teen a

Hayley is a young girl, who is a keen eye for baking. Hayley's parents are divorced and she has just moved in with her Grandmother in an apartment, where she is forced to share a room with her sister. It just so happens that, her Grandma owns a bakery, and this bakery is located on the floor below where they are living! Hayley starts to have friend drama though, and she and her best friend, Artie, start to continuously get in fights. But, c

I think this was a great book for middle schoolers and I loved the idea of baking into this. It's about this girl named Hayley who's mom and dad went through a divorce and her friend Artie is no longer her friend. She makes new friends and her creative mind takes her to making unique and different types of cupcakes.

This book gives you a glimpse of what middle school can be like with all the drama. But there is a life lesson involved with this book. Like friends come and go by there's those thin

The interesting book "Save the Cupcake" by Lisa Papademetriou talked about a 7th grade girl named Hayley who loves to bake cupcakes. Sometimes, Hayley bakes cupcakes for her grandmother's tea shop. She lives with her mom, grandmother and her sister, Chloe in an elegant apartment over the Tea Room, since her parents are divorced. At school, Hayley and her 2 best friends, Marco and Artie were close since they were little kids. At one point Artie changed, started wearing makeup and finding Hayley i ...more
I originally read this book in 2012 (when I was in 5th grade) and I enjoyed it but was able to set it aside as just fiction.

Now reading it in 7th grade, being the same age as the main character, I TOTALLY GET IT. I get everything Hayley is talking about because I've been through most, except without baking cupcakes every week or so. Starting to drift away from your best friend but hanging out with other people, adjusting to social settings and having new (and ridiculous, if I might say) school

Haley doesn't know what to do! Her dad got a new girlfriend and Haley doesn't know if she likes her or not but something Haley does know is that her little sister Chloe loves her! Haley is meeting her dads new girlfriend because they are going on a apple picking trip and Haley is a little nervous. Artie, Haley's best friend, has brought a new boy to the school named Devon and Haley thinks she has a crush on him? Haley gets invited to a party, but when she gets there she see's Artie and Devon tog ...more
I Love this book so much!! Its a light and quick read for everyone.. <3 The characters are so realistic in this book. I congratulate Lisa Papademetriou for this amazing book and I really want to read the 2nd and 3rd books for this series.. <3
This book is called Confectionately Yours. The author is Lisa Papademetriou. This book is Realistic Fiction. It has 231 pages to it.

This book is about a girl named Hayley. Her parents just got divorced and she had to move in with her grandma with her mom and little sister. At the begging of the book she didn’t want to move, but once she got there she ended up liking it. She likes to bake cupcakes, and makes them for all her friends. Then this girl decided to set up a meeting to ban the cupcakes.
This is a good book that my 11yr old daughter and I read together. I recommend it. It's also worth 5 A.R points if your school does the Accelerated Reader program. We plan on reading the 2nd book within the next couple weeks.

This is a great book! I couldn't believe what happened! I wanted to read the next book in the series so bad after finishing it. I'm reading Taking The Cake now.
