Commander Jason's true identity as Prince Djetthro-Djason has been uncovered, and he's forced to mate with the ruling prince's sister, Martia-Djulia. But this is not the punishment it seems. Though Djetth and Martia's one night of passion was mistakenly triggered by another's scent, Djetth is rather fond of his high-maintenance bride-to-be. Unfortunately, she's pining for ...more

This book is far, far superior to its predecessor, "Forced Mate." I am still wondering how a species so obsessed with sex ever made it into space, but that receded into the background in this book. I haven't read romance novels in twenty some-odd years and the sci-fi romance was a completely new thing to me. I still prefer science fiction that may or may not have some romance thrown in as opposed to romance that has some science fiction thrown in. But, romances do have their place ...more

INSUFFICIENT MATING MATERIAL

A Tricky Experiment

“Maybe, sweetheart, we should have sex to prove to you that you can and will enjoy it.”
“I enjoyed it once. I am very happy with my memories. I don’t need you or your experiment to prove anything,” she said stiffly.
“Once?” He raised an eyebrow. His lips twitched. Too late, Martia-Djulia realized that she had just contradicted one of her earlier statements.
“The Aim of the Experiment is to d...more

Rowena Cherry has done it again! Her first book in this series, Forced Mate, made a fan out of me so I knew this one, Insufficient Mating Material, would be another great read. I wasn't wrong! This reader rarely goes for science fiction material, but anything Ms Cherry writes I will read, and you should as well. Sensual, funny and highly imaginative, you feel as though you are there, in space, outside of this earthly existence.

All I can say is: where is the next book in the series, ...more

I rated this -5 stars. I only read this because my 'ex' friend saw my review on Forced Mate and said this one was better. It was better at making me what to stop reading forever. This is the age old I got a girl preggo so now i have to marry her EXCEPT Cherry writes like i did when i was in high school. her sentence structure is sooooooo pretentious, her writing gives the impression that she's so afraid someone is going to know her work is a pile o' youknowwhat that she has to over explain. ...more

Picks up where "Forced Mate" left off, only the couple being focused on switched. Clearly a "couple-a-book" style romance series. Not usually my favorite type of series, but that is neither here nor there.

Commander Jason and Julia hook up in this one. Only Julia doesn't know Jason is Jason. A little corrective surgery for the broken jaw plus a little cosmetic surgery to remove his facial scar. Then, for most of the book, it's stranded on a desert island with the b...more

Well darlings, the Djinns have a problem. Seems none of their women do what their supposed to. Princess Martia-Djulia actually bails on her own wedding because of a one night stand she had. Now that one night of fun was part of a complicated assassination attempt in Forced Mate (2004). I recommend you read that one first so you can enjoy this one more...

just like the first one, could not understand it...did not finish, didn't want to try...

disgusting; 5 star reviews from the author herself and her friends and family, i've seen it done on Amazon and NO ONE appreciates it, you are TRICKING people into picking up your books and frankly that behaviour disgusts everyone, glad that i actually borrowed all your books rather than buy them.

Ache. My head aches. I tried this author again and what do I get? A huge, steaming pile of...yeah you get the point. I'm actually trying to forget this whole disaster. Fat chance of that. Moreover, why are the same people reviewing her books? Why is she 5-starring her books YET again?

Kind of silly and a poorly explained "world". Action did not seem to flow. Maybe if I would have read the first book in the series it would have made more sense to me. But I'm not interested enough to do so.

Perhaps it's because I didn't read the first book in the series but I just couldn't get into this book. I kept asking questions like "Who's speaking?", "How are the characters related?", "Is this supposed to make sense?". Sorry not my style I guess.

If you enjoy mildly-salacious, un-pc, fantasy fiction and are willing to struggle through the writing you might enjoy this. I didn't, I gave up half-way through.

OK - I didn't actually read it. I started to read it, but just couldn't be bothered. I'll admit I hadn't read the first book in this series, so I didn't really understand some of the attitudes of the characters at the beginning. But nothing about the story grabbed me. Life is too short to struggle through a story in which you have no interest. I have too many 'good' books piled up awaiting my selection :)
