I needed a book that I could keep me entertained through my flight from Toronto to Chicago. The very night before I left, I happened to be browsing the Tucker Max website looking for an old favourite anecdote (“Tucker tries buttsex, hilarity ensues”) and I realized his book Sloppy Seconds was available for FREE! Well, I’m not one that downloads a lot of free books onto her Kindle (my collection is very well-organized and carefully picked) but this one was a no-brainer.

I suppose I need to stop yo...more

Who would've thought such an arrogant, obnoxious tool could be able to write such detailed stories? Tucker Max the author of "Sloppy Seconds" writes about the mishaps and adventures he experienced throughout his life, which he thought he should share with the world. "Sloppy Seconds" is a combined repertoire of his experiences in college. Max uses a range of writers craft, but the one I will focus on is the ability to hear his voice throughout his memoirs (pg.152, Ray; pg.32, Fletcher).

I downloaded this book as my humor genre and I started reading it because of the "buzz" of my cohort peers. I really enjoyed the beginning of this book. The author is arrogant, obnoxious, annoying, and honest. The funny part is that the author knows this and is very open open about his personality throughout the entire book. What most people only think about and keep in their minds, the author is the type who is actually open to talking about it. However, the author's natural talent for storytel...more

I read I Hope They Serve Beer In Hell several years ago after a friend loaned it to me, telling me it was hilarious. I didn't like the book -- it sounded like I was reading an undersexed freshman alcoholic's wish journal -- and I was amazed my friend thought that I would. I was even more amazed to hear that it was on the NYT's best sellers list. I did a little research into the author, opening me up to the world of Tucker Max and his very vocal fans and critics.

First of all, Tucker Max is a jerk...more

So I downloaded iBooks (after iTunes and all that has been pestering me to for months), and decided to download as many free ebooks as I could, and this happened to be one of them. This is the first book by Tucker Max that I've read, so I wasn't sure how much I would enjoy it, especially since at first I was not sure at all what the cover was (it was much smaller on my iPod, and I thought it was like a butterfly or something?). But afterwards, once I finished the book, I was like, "So THAT'S wha...more

I haven’t read anything by Tucker Max prior to this and am debating whether I would again. Though, I did laugh at points, there were also instances that made me queasy and it wasn’t the potty humor that did it. The level of meanness sometimes reaches above and beyond what I would find humorous.. It is fine for the author to be a self-centered ass but not okay for anyone to be a geek, nerd or fat. I didn’t necessarily take issue when the objects of his ridicule actively sought him out, for instan...more

Tucker Max is back for the fourth and final time (well for the foreseeable future).

Sloppy Seconds is Max's fourth book retelling his awful antics and some stuff that didn't quite make it to the three previous books. I've yet to get my hands on Hilarity Ensues (Book Three), but I can onle imagine that it does not fail to disappoint.

Now none of Max's books are for the faint of heart, but Sloppy Seconds is a great way to be introduced to his writings. It has a story from each of his previous books...more

In this text the author uses many crafts to draw the reader into the story. Tucker Max describes his encounters he has had in college, however when describing them he uses vivid details. Tucker also describes his friends and continues their characters until the end. The characters engage in dialogue and get into trouble with Tucker. He does not leave out one detail. Tucker also includes allusions in this text, he references popular colleges and college events. While telling about a text conversa...more

This book was hilarious... I'll admit, the title of the first chapter (Tucker Max tries buttsex; Hilarity does not ensue) and the subsequent tale (TM convinces a girl to do anal while a friend secretly films it from the closet; said girl accidentally poops on him in the process; TM barfs; girl realizes what happens; she barfs; friend stumbles out of the closet; everybody barfs) made me think I had just gotten another Average American Male-esque book. But I decided to trudge it out, and I am thri...more

I started reading this out of pure curiosity from my classmates’ buzz and recommendations and I can see what they were talking about. Tucker Max is arrogant. He’s obnoxious. He’s the typical jerk guy you’d love to hate or hate to love. And he’s also funny… IF you’re into that sort of thing. “Sloppy Seconds” is a book that consists of short stories leftover from Max’s three previous novels. I managed to read through about seven stories before I had had enough of Max and decided to abandon “Sloppy...more

Sloppy Second is a very entertaining story that details the life of the author, Tucker Max. Throughout the story Tucker shares some of his most intimate stories with his readers in a fun and humorous way. Every college student has their stories of wild parties, the people they meet, and much more, but Tucker writes his story in such way that you would believe that you were there to experience each event yourself. In this book Tucker master’s the craft of voice. He writes with such great inflicti...more

Pretty typical Tucker Max writing, however it's called "Sloppy Seconds" for a reason. This is a collection of stories that have been left out of his previous three books, and you can often tell why. If you enjoyed I Hope They Serve Beer In Hell, Assholes Finish First or Hilarity Ensues, I'm sure you'll find some laughs in this one. The book is fairly short (the first third consists of three stories, one from each of his previous books, to introduce any new readers to Tucker Max), so it doesn't t...more

Meh. The author is giving away this book for free, so you can't complain there. He also admits that these tales are leftovers and are not his best work, so he pretty much lays it out for you. That being said, this book is more of the same - tales of drunken debauchery and random sex. I have only read his first book, and am fine missing books 2 and 3. I can only imagine how his oversized ego became even larger once he had a successful book published. I do wonder what he is going to do with his li...more

Tucker Max has a little bit different approach on this book, kind of. He talks about his childhood for a bit, and his mother. He also talks about food, expecially Guacamole, and X-ray machines. I'd recommend this book to anyone who enjoys adult humor. I enjoy every single one of his stories! I'd recommend this book because it is such an awesome laugh!

Free on the Nook so why not read it? This was an excellent book for spending a carefree day laying in the sun on my back porch reading, because of course with Tucker Max nothing is too serious or lighthearted. I liked that Max included selected stories from his other three books to introduce readers like me to his writing if we hadn't previously read. The story about waiting for football tickets and claiming "king of the hill" over the other graduate students had me laughing so hard that I was c...more

Free e-book with stories that weren't good enough to be in the last couple of official Tucker Max books. Which sounds like it would be the worst thing ever, but it's so not. I liked it almost as much as I liked the first one, the mega best selling I Hope They Serve Beer in Hell. And I liked that one quite a bit. I feel about it the way religious people feel about the Bible. I didn't read the other two - Assholes Finish First, from a few years back, which relatively few people read and even less...more

Classic Tucker Max book, though you can tell that all the good stories are all somewhat gone now. The book is written in two parts. In the first part he re-tells some of the old stories, which were already published in one of his other books. In part 2 he wrote down various stories which should entertain the reader. However most of them are very short, random and everything but new.
After reading the previous books nothing "shocks" you anymore. And the easy entertainment part is gone as well. Goo...more

This book is about a man, Tucker Max, who writes about various stories and events in his life. Most of these stories are about hookups, drunken instances, or stories from his friends. When I first read this book, I was like what in the world? Who lives their life like this? I think the book is very entertaining and there are some funny stories. I think that Max is a character that people find amusing and funny, but not anyone that I would be friends with or associate myself. He sees woman and r...more

Personally, I find Tucker Max hilarious! Sure if you don't have a crude, inappropriate sense of humor than this book definitely isn't for you! People argue that he is just downright hateful but most of the people that he degrades needed to come to terms with reality! Furthermore, people that strongly dislike him are just adding fuel to the fire by reading him because they are just adding more sales to keep him on best-seller lists. Mind you, he really hasn't had any main stream advertising and h...more

I never heard of Tucker Max before I found this for free on amazon.com. I missed out on all the warnings before picking up this book. I should have realized that a cover that can't be shown here isn't just graphic art, but is a real picture, though blurry, of the author's peanuts. I didn't pick up on these clues, so it is my fault that I actually read this. Now, I have to give it 4 stars because it made me laugh. I'm the nerd he spends so much time making fun of, and yet I laughed at the other n...more

Oh Tucker Max, you are pretty much my hero. Tucker Max is so epic that you cannot simply refer to him as just “Tucker” or even by his last name “Max,” as is typically done when you speak about authors. You must refer to him by his full name, Tucker Max, at all times.

Prior to reading this free e-book (courtesy of his blog), I had not read his other books. I did read samples of all 3 of his books and I have seen the movie I Hope They Serve Beer in Hell. Needless to say, I knew what I was getting...more

I felt bad for enjoying this.

It's a rare glimpse into the kind of person I don't really know in real life, or necessarily enjoy encountering in real life, and Tucker's brutal honesty and affinity for offending somehow turn him into this sort of antihero that I hated to love. And loved to hate. And loved to love.

I hope we never meet, Tucker Max. This guy might somehow be able to talk me into sex, and if I learned anything, it's that I should not have sex with Tucker Max.

This says nothing about...more

Meh. I can tolerate profanity and even misogyny if it comes with humor. There are a couple of giggle-worthy moments in this book, but that's about it. The rest is just a bunch of crap where the author seems like he is trying way too hard to be cool and funny. Turns out I enjoy this in a book even less than I do in real life. It's not that I can't appreciate crude and inappropriate humor (It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, anyone?), but this wasn't for me, even as a free e-book.

Definitely not fo...more

Very funny book, I laughed a lot reading this. The author is a total d-bag, but he makes no qualms about it and embraces his inner douchiness. Some of the exploits are hysterical and will definitely make you laugh. Example: When Dr. Drew is concerned for his health after filming himself getting a BJ by the XRay tech (yeah, the copy is on his website and the good doctor was concerned about that much exposure to radiation on his "boys"). Others make you wonder how the heck this guy ever gets all t...more

Although there are some stories in here that I've already read, I can't help but re-read the adventures of Tucker Max. Best part? It was free!

This book, and, all his books for that matter, is not for people who are easily offended.....at all. So take note people, because I warned you, and I refuse to read how you think he is a horrible person for the things he's said or done. I find them hilarious, and have been an asshole myself on numerous occassions,......sooooooo..be warned.

On that note, th...more

This book was up and down for me. I was entertained by the first story which drew me in. I think Max did this on purpose to keep readers entertained. However, after the first story, I was less and less impressed. There were a few small stories that got my attention and held it for a while, but I must say that I am happy I didn't purchase this book. Tucker Max, although a man of many stories met his match in this 4th book of his.

Fletcher, talks about voice in his text and this was evident in this...more

I read Tucker Max's first two books. They were funny. So so wrong, but funny. This one was free. Not so funny. Yes, he admits that these are stories that were not good enough for his first three paid books. He's right. Max is intelligent, hilarious, and a good storyteller. But, I fear that this one trick pony has finally run out of good stories from "the glory days".

I hope he finds something else to write about because he does have talent. If you like Tucker Max's work, go ahead and read this i...more

Sloppy Seconds proved to be a quick read, and took me a couple of hours to finish. This book is a bit shorter than his other works as well, so naturally it did not take me long to flip through. By now, I quite enjoy Tucker’s narrative style… it’s like talking to an old, hilarious friend that you find a bit ridiculous but are still fond of at the same time (against your better judgment, sometimes). I got some laughs out of it, but not as many as I used to. For this reason, I think that it was a g...more

I haven't read any of the first three tucker max books. I saw this on iBooks for free and so I downloaded it. The stories are hilarious if you think that sex stories gone wrong are funny. It's one of those where you think "thank god that happened to him and not me". Yes he's an asshole and yes he does some pretty stupid stuff but that's what has made him money. I did watch I hope they serve beer in hell and I had been curious about the other stories and I'll deffinently read the first three too.
