This was beautiful, and great fun to read.
Fulghum is a master at showing us particular aspects of a full life, without ever preaching. Not only did he show, he also lets us hear and smell and taste and touch. He made me cry over Beethoven's 9th!
"Now the body is not made up of one part but of many. If the foot should say, 'because I am not a hand, I do not belong to the body,' it would not for that reason cease to be part of the body. And if the ear should say, 'because I am not an eye, I do not More...

I was given this book around the 8th grade. It was a hard read but I managed through it, and was able to relate to some experiences he talked about. This book is philosophical, and really makes you think about things. I plan on reading it again now that I am older and have a newer perspective on life.

This book got me thinking a bit. It's pretty amazing how authors writing style inspires you to stop and think about every day situations. Nevertheless I would say that this book is still in the group of a every day book. This means that it's far from a deeper philosophical books. You can read it after hard day and still be able to grasp the meaning.
Either way I enjoyed reading this book and will turn to Sartre, Solženicyn and my favorite Saint-Exupéry for hard reading (Of course there are many o More...

I like Robert Fulghum's style of writing. I always think of his stories whenever I blog because his stories are easy to read yet they are full of lessons.
The first book of his that I've read is Everything I Learned, I Learned from Kindergarten which I absolutely love. Maybe is something nice too but I was able to relate more with his stories in Everything I Learned.

I wanted to put three and a half stars. Very insightful book, witty and reminds one that normal life is more quirky than one would assume, and it takes normal people to contemplate and achieve great things. Robert Fulghum adds an extra dimension of magic to the world we know. I particularly enjoyed the Christmas/Valentine's Day story and the one about men and their wallets.

"When my mother wasn't around, Lovey sang the blues. She didn't sing about Jesus or heaven or sweet chariots. Her singing was about getting up in the morning and dealing with the day. About love and sex and sorrow. About disappointment and not having any money and the roof leaking and jelly rolls and catching the next train for Chicago and finding some man better than the one who never came around anymore anyways.
I could relate. Oh, could I relate. I was an adolescent.
Sing them blues."

I am not much for light reading. When I sit down I want something I can sink my teeth into and really feel I am more intelligent and have been challenged after I am done. These are fun, great books. I can't help but laugh out loud every time I read them, and I have read them multiple times. They were some of my dad's favorite books and have continued to be mine.

I enjoy reading fulghum now and then, quick and easy to read... with good insight on the way people think, or at least he connects to the way I think most of the time. There was a really funny chapter about pee that had me cracking up.

I think this one is my favorite of his books (tough choice between this and Uh Oh). Because midnight fridge raids do create a brotherhood.

Includes a story about a man named Vedran Smailovic, a true hero from Sarajevo. If you read nothing else from this book, try that chapter!

I just re-read this and my rating stands. This is not on par with his first two books. This one seems 'forced' and 'manufactured' as if he was expected to publish another book within a certain timeframe.
I gave it two stars because I do like Fulghum's musings about daily living and there are a few essays in this book that are worthwhile. All-in-all the book was a letdown.

Kind of like sitting with a wise old man and listening to his stories about life. I've read it twice and will surely do so again.

Another Fulghum book...full of essays on life. I just loved this one!! Loved it!! You gotta read it. I can tell you that you won't be disappointed.
You can never go wrong reading Robert Fulghum. You'll learn something new, and have your boring old beliefs refreshed! (That's true, sometimes what we believe becomes so unappreciated because we don't take time to realize the value of what we hold as truth).

I am fan of reading Robert's books. This book had given me a comic view of general life and taught me not to take things too serious. Unlike other books before this one, it has a bit of a dark side. Overall, it is still a good read.
