One week after their engagement Jeffrey surprises Maggie with a two week skiing trip, just the two of them. Then it becomes the four of them as Jeffrey invites their best friends along. As soon as they arrive at the Ritz resort Maggie learns the real reason for the trip is for Jeffrey to do some pre-production work on a new skiing documentary he is shooting of a hot shot ski bum who lives in the area. Instead of the romantic vacation she envisioned, Maggie ends up with a lot of time alone to think, ski, photograph the surrounding area, and fall head over heels for that hot shot ski bum.

I won't give anything else away but you can probably figure out what happens next because well, On the Rim of Love was simply put, predictable. I really enjoyed the setting and the descriptions of the gorgeous mountainside but I found the story to be lackluster and the characters to be one-dimensional and lacking in depth. They were each written in a way that it was obvious whose side you should be on and which characters you should like and which characters were in the wrong. Take Jeffrey for example, an vengeful and arrogant producer who thinks his wife should stay at home while he makes the money, there wasn't one thing I liked about him. Same thing with most of the characters, they were either all good or all bad. When have you ever met anyone who didn't have one redeeming quality? It just felt flat and unrealistic to me.

If you're just looking for something to keep you entertained by the pool or at the beach for a few hours, this will do the job. Just don't expect to keep thinking about it or remembering the characters after you finish the last page. 2 stars. (less)

I bought a copy of this book over the weekend and I simply could not put it down. This heart-tugging love story reminded me of books by Nicholas Sparks and Richard Bach.

I wasn't sure I was going to like this one when I first starting reading it because I disliked Jeffrey immediately. And as the characters in the story, I had to question any Maggie's sensibilities when she let herself get forced into an engagement she wasn't really sure she wanted and then flown off for Vancouver for two weeks under the guise of an engagement trip only to learn mid flight it was actually for Jeffrey's work. The daredevil skier, is handsome twenty-three year old Taylor Denton, and when Maggie and Taylor meet, the electricity of attraction flies between them, that sets off a dangerous love triangle that could have serious ramifications for them all. Does Maggie stick by Jeffrey and their engagement, or does she follow her heart and turn to Taylor? Will the love triangle have life-changing ramifications for Maggie, Jeffrey and Taylor? On the Rim of Love stays true to the contemporary romance genre, it provides the reader with a story that has enough romance mixed with intrigue and suspense that is truly sigh worthy. I absolutely loved the storyline, it was well written and fast-paced, I was so intrigued by Maggie, Jeffrey and Taylor's story, that I couldn't put the book down. The characters in the story had dynamic personalities, their intertwining lives gave the story a realistic feel that engages the reader. I loved the love triangle concept, in true romance tradition, it had a princess, a prince charming and a villain. I was completely engrossed in the intrigue and suspense of the love triangle. The author's description of the British Columbia landscape and Eagleville ski resort was breathtaking. I found myself closing my eyes and I could actually visualize the mountain scenery and ski village. When a reader can be transported to the place described in a story, you know that the book is worth reading. The description of the skiing scenes, especially that of the dangerous off-piste skiing scene, kept me on the edge of my seat, it was a pure adrenaline rush that had me wishing for my younger days when I went on ski trips. Finally, there is nothing better than steamy love scenes in a romance novel, and I was not disappointed, Maggie and Taylor's blossoming attraction for one another was truly worthy of many sighs. On the Rim of Love is an engaging, beautiful romance novel that will completely satisfy every contemporary romance fan!

Enjoyed it but too long for it to be 35 chpaters.

Even though Maggie thought she loved Jeffrey I'm glad to read that she finally knew what IN LOVE meant.

The story itself was a bit draggy and it kind of left out people that were in it and next minute not. So I wished that it kind of showed how her friendship with Bethany went or whatever happened to her.

This book was fantastic!!! I could not put it down once I started reading it. There was not a single dull moment. Marie Astor did an amazing job with the storyline, setting, and characters.
I absolutely LOVED Taylor Denton with his passion, determination, and laid back lifestyle. He is driven, loyal, smoking hot, and compassionate. Oh did I mention smoking hot!!

I had never heard of this book before I was asked to review it and I have to admit, I was really excited to start. I’ve been itching to read a contemporary romance novel for a while now and this seemed like the right novel but after reading, I generally liked it but didn’t love it.

On the Rim of Love was a loving and likable story. It’s was a pretty easy read which was great because this is why I love contemporary romance novels. You can get lost in the story and know there will be a happy ending and the love interest is always to die for. This is what On the Rim of Love was and I enjoyed it!

The main character Maggie was really likable and easy to connect with, despite her being quite unsure about her feelings for Jeffery and Taylor, she soon see’s who will truly encourage her to follow her dreams but not only that, become the women she has always wanted to become. It was really nice seeing her grow into that person. Now Taylor, I loved him. As soon as he came on the scene you just wanted to get to know him. I really enjoyed all the qualities he brought to the book too. Now the other characters like Jeffery and Bethany…..I really disliked. They were all shallow, selfish and were money hungry and from page one I hated them. None of them redeemed themselves either so I still dislike them now. So, overall Maggie and Taylor made this book for me.

The story itself was likable; I have to admit I got kind of bored with the ski references so when Maggie bought in her Photography dreams, it was a welcome addition to the book. I also didn’t really think the end of the story with the light and dreams were necessary. I would have preferred that part cut out of the story but is what is it but still enjoyable nonetheless.

If you’re looking for a light and quick read that will leave you satisfied, then this is the novel for you. I enjoyed it and I reckon you will too.

The author creates such heart-tugging chemistry between the main characters, Maggie and Taylor, that it simply makes it impossible for you to put the book down. I fell in love with Taylor from page one and I still can’t get him out of my mind!

The book is also very well written – I was blown away by the descriptions of off-piste terrain. I am a skier myself, and Marie Astor definitely knows what she’s writing about. If you’re looking for a love story to take your breath away, read On the Rim of...more

This was a sweet contemporary romance, and falls in the PG-PG-13 realm. This could certainly be read by a ya. As an adult, I enjoyed it immensely.

I've always been interested in skiing, but never actually done it. It's on my bucket list, though. This book has certainly made me more anxious to hit the slopes and experience the thrill firsthand.

Interesting premise and good character development - as far as the romance genre goes, I really liked this book. I also liked the fact that the author developed supporting characters really well - Shawn and Hannah added an interesting side story line and I really liked Taylor's grandparents as well.

I don't think is clean, started reading it and within the first couple chapters two unmarried couples are going on a weekend get-away and she says she'd rather "make-love than ski"...anyway I didn't want to keep investing my time.

Every now and then I just want to lose myself in a great love story - Marie Astor's On the Rim of Love is such a story.

On the Rim of Love reminds you what it's like to fall in love for the first time. I fell in love with Taylor from the first page I met him - now I'm dreaming of being swept off my feet just like Maggie.

This is my third book by Marie Astor - I'm definitely adding her to my list of favorite romance authors.
