A brilliant, smartly written whirlwind of four tightly woven, interlocking stories that build momentum and inexorably collide in Waikiki during a hurricane. A comic send-up of British aristocracy, wiccans, anthropologists, global warming, the paparazzi, tourism, illegal immigration, academia, big business, hotel decorations, and, of course, sex. I fully trusted the author and the worlds he rendered, whether it was inner Borneo, British Parliament, or a five-star Waikiki hotel. A fun, rollicking ...more

Like a FREE HAWAIIAN VACATION, July 15, 2012

This book was a great discovery. It's light and funny with a real spirit all its own. It's rare that a book of that type pulls the reader right in, but this one does. And that's the magic of fiction.

I can see why it was named

BEST FICTION BOOK OF THE YEAR -- HAWAI'I

and National Semi-Finalist for the

AMAZON BREAKTHROUGH NOVEL AWARD

In parts, it made me laugh out loud, and appa

“Why were things funny? Was God laughing at us? Or was laughter the dispensation of God? Maybe laughter itself was Godlike. When we laugh, we rise above pain. We rise above indignity. We even rise above incredulity. We "get it." Maybe in the way God "gets it.” 1 likes
“They say a picture is worth a thousand words, but a word is worth a million pictures. A billion. As many as there are people who know the word. Each has their own picture, their own meaning of it, in their heads. It's theirs. It's unique. And yet they share it with everyone else. And every time they use a word, a single word, they contribute to the creation of the soul of us all.” 1 likes
