Of all the Fallen, Raze's hungers are some of the darkest and most insatiable. His brazen seductions cost him his wings, leaving him soulless and immortal, the most dangerous of seducers. He has roamed the earth for eons, hunting the rogues of his kind and protecting the humans who provide him with blood and sex. He is content with his life and the transient pleasures that...more

The only good thing I can say for this book is that it was short! I'm not typically one to strongly dislike a book but for this I have to make an exception!
Fallen angels who lost their wings and souls for falling in love with a mortal. So they are turned into Vampires. And what the heck, why not throw in some rabid lycenthropes too?! Really? I feel like my hands just suffered from some kind of freaky finger diarrhea just from typing that!
The main charactors are nothing to rave about either. The...more

Being drawn into a battle he was not prepared for yet, Raze went to Chicago to see just what the minions had in mind for him. Knowing it might be a trap, he called on the Angel (Adrian) that was tasked with keeping the Fallen (Vampires) alive to live with their punishment. Looking for a release and a distraction for the night, Kim McAdams hit on the handsome, stranger Raze. For some strange reason she felt more comfortable with him than she had with anyone in such a long time, if ever. Not being...more

Seehhh, completamen...more

I read A Dark Kiss of Rapture by Sylvia Day to see if I would like the Renegade Angels series. It is a very short read and since it was free on Amazon, I figured it wouldn’t hurt to try. The story is about the Fallen which are actually the fallen angels that have become vampires and I was compelled to read this just for that fact! Raze is part of the Fallen, a soulless immortal and other than hunting rogues he spends his time finding pleasure with women to curb his desires. No woman has ever mea...more

Raze is one of the "Fallen," an angel fallen from grace, stripped of its wings and soul, leaving behing an immortal blood drinker who cannot procreate. He is the only one of the 200 "Fallen" who has never experienced the love of a human. He has insatiable appetites of another kind though, and feeds them nightly. Raze is a "hunter" and hunts and kills the outlaws of the vampire nation and their minions. He has done this for hundreds of years, but this job in Chicago has him feeling out of his el...more

Ok....what to say.

I loved "Bared to You," so I figured I would read some more of Ms. Day's books. "A Dark Kiss of Rapture," being a prequel, I wasn't expecting to become engrossed and honestly as much as I wanted to be, I wasn't. I enjoyed the book and the love scenes were hot but I can't give it five stars, I just can't. Truly, I don't believe it has anything to do with the writing. It has to do with the fact, lycans and vamps, they just don't really do it for me...especially in a prequel. May...more

This was free on Kindle and after reading BARED TO YOU I wanted to read another tale by Sylvia Day to see more of her writing style. I really enjoyed the love story part of the book, and I also enjoyed the world Sylvia was building after a bit. At first I was confused by the new names and relationships.

This is a quick novella, so unless there is going to be a paranormal destiny reason later in the series, I did feel th...more

A Dark Kiss of Rapture by Sylvia Day
Renegade Angels Novella Book .5 (Prologue)
These books are about fallen angels, not only do they lose their wings but they are cursed to be vampires as well. Raze is one of them. He had never experienced falling in love and he is one of the biggest womanizers. It is all meaningless to him. Just a way of getting what his body needs; sex and blood. Until he goes to Chicago on a mission and meets Kim.

Kim sees Raze walk into the bar and feels drawn to him. With a f...more

Available for free from Smashwords (at the time of the review), Dark Kiss of Rapture is prequel for Day's new Renagade Angels series. The story takes place right before the start of the first book A Touch of Crimson. A Dark Kiss of Rapture stars vampire Raze who is a Fallen angel who has lost his wings and who now helps to police the vampires, to keep his race out of trouble.

When a gruesome calling card is left on Raze's door, he heads off to Chicago to hunt the killer vamp among the followers...more

Okay - so I knew this was a novella going into the book but just because it is a short story, shouldn't it still have the elements of a story....Beginning, Middle, End.

The Beginning was good - jumped right into action with the finding of the dead body and Raze going to Chicago to nip more trouble-making in the bud.

The Middle - dealing with the bad guys and then some down time with a willing woman. I liked how Raze and Kim don't play coy with each other, they both see that the other has a need to...more

Let me start by saying the Renegade Angels series is one of my "must read" favorite series. A Dark Kiss of Rapture merely fueled that obsession. I was sooo angry that the story ended, it was like getting a teeny, tiny bite of cheesecake and being told you have to wait for the rest. Raze is one of the Fallen. Not quite a good guy and not quite a bad guy so of course he made me drool. Entirely good guys can work a nerve at times. The reader has just enough time to strip the layers away from his h...more

WOW! I loved this book from beginning to end. It sparked a whole new interest in this series for me and now I can't wait to get the rest of the books and read them as well.

Raze is your typical vampire. He prefers to get his blood and sex from the willing and then relax on his own. He's married to his work and wouldn't have it any other way. His friends are those who work with him. Even though they are all connected because they are the Fallen, they each have their own way of getting along with t...more

As the title suggests, Raze is a Fallen angel, cursed with the affliction of vampirism for his transgressions. He hunts those who have gone through the Change and come out the other side "wrong". In other words, crazed. Finding himself a target in a plot to reduce humans to nothing but feed animals, he travels to Chicago to track down the mastermind. What he doesn't expect to find is the one woman who might be willing to give his heart to.

When Kim sees Raze in the bar, brooding and handsome, sh...more

I wish Goodreads had half stars because while this book doesn't deserve 4 stars, it definitely doesn't deserve 3! A definite 3.5

There was a lot about this book that I liked, but I just couldn't love it no matter how much I wanted too, although I have nothing but good things to say about it.

First thing, I really enjoyed both main characters. Raze was particularly lovely to read about.

Secondly, the story line was refreshing. I loved how even though it was set in an incredibly short time frame, it...more

This is a great little prequel to Sylvia Day's Renegade Angel series. I actually read this one after A Touch of Crimson and was able to enjoy it quite a bit.

Our hero is Raze, one of the vampires/ Fallen Angels. As part of their leader's inner circle, it is his job to police the minions created by his people. Often, when one of the Fallen tries to turn a human, he meets less than ideal results. Raze must make sure the minions aren't doing too much damage to humanity or acting in a way th...more

A DARK KISS OF RAPTURE (Renegade Angels Series) by Sylvia Day

A DARK KISS OF RAPTURE is a free e-novella (October 2011) in Sylvia Day's Renegade Angel's Series. There is plenty of background and pertinent information that Sylvia includes at the beginning of the storyline-descriptions of Angels, Fallen, Lycan, Minions, Vampires etc and how each was created, made and or inspired. To be honest, without the information I would have been lost.

Kim is a young woman who hides the pain of the murder of he...more

This is a novella accompanying the Renegade Angels trilogy and it’s the story of Raze, one of the captains of Vashti, second-in-command of the vampire nation. Something from his past hunt comes back to haunt him and he is led to go to Chicago to settle the matter. During his stay in Chicago, he encounters Kim. The spontaneous attraction between them makes him think if he has finally found what he’s been looking for.

This is the first book I read from the whole Renegade series as it’s free on the...more

A Dark Kiss of Rapture is the prelude to A Touch of Crimson and the rest of the Renegade Angel series. I really enjoyed the idea behind this book: fallen angels turned vampire! Such an original thought.

Raze is a smoke'n hot fallen angel vampire. He has had a tough couple f days of hunting, fighting, and killing and needs to unwind.Raze is looking for a quick, rough (straight to the point) one night stand. But, he is drawn to bar that isn't like his usual haunts and immediately finds the type of...more

Prequel to Sylvia Day's new Renegade Angels series. Sentinels are angels who are on Earth to watch over the Fallen, fallen angels turned vampires as punishment for falling in the first place, who in turn police over those mortals who have been turned. Raze, a Fallen, heads on over to Chicago to clean up a mess some turned mortal vampires have caused. Here he meets Kim and so the love fest begins.

Nice short. Definitely makes me want to read the rest of the series. I just didn't like how it ended....more

Mmmmmmm. Raze. What a decadent creature. Raze is a Fallen Angel who is apparently the only to fall without knowing love first. And since he's lost his soul, love doesn't seem to be a possibility. Raze isn't a one lady kinda guy, but that's only because Kim hasn't sauntered into his life yet. I really liked Kim. I liked her inner strength and determined will to keep Raze, regardless of the obstacles they may face. The world-building was squeezed into a novella, so I'm still confused on some aspec...more

This is a free prequel to Sylvia Day's Renegade Angels series. I really liked A Touch of Crimson, the first book in this series and was thrilled when I found out this novella had been released. While A Touch of Crimson tells the story of one of the angels, this novella tells the story of one of the vampire Fallen. I thoroughly enjoyed this novella and fell hard for Raze, the only Fallen to lose his wings and never know love. Kim is a great match for him and I want to know how their story unfolds...more

I feel like I'm drowning in bad PNR these past few days. Here is another.

What is the purpose of a prequel? I think the purpose of a prequel is to introduce me to a series, maybe give an oportunity to learn about the PNR world, see if the writing style is for me before I spend my money on book 1. I liked the heroine a lot; very real and interesting, perhaps even witty. I did not connect with the alpha male and that is just a disaster when I read. I wanted to have hots for him and I didn't.

I got this book as a free download from iBooks. For a freebie, it was decent. I've never read any of her other books and I can't say that this one makes me want to purchase any. The storyline was predictable and unbelievable. Being a woman, I know there is no chance I will walk into a bar, pick up some random dude and then decide I want to spend the rest of my life with him 24 hours later. They know nothing about each other. And while I know that reading a book is not supposed to be lifelike, I...more

Novella.

Pretty decent start to a series, I haven't read any of her other books, so this being free on Kindle was a nice starting point.

From what I can gather it involved the Fallen (angels that is) who were turned into vampires and cursed with immortality to live forever without their souls. Minions are what the vampires can change humans into (and I think Minions can make more Minions), most of them apparently go crazy from the change. The Angels are sent to police both the Fallen and the Minio...more

Mmmm not quite sure what to make of this book :0/ I felt as if I was only getting half a story and it just didn't flow well for me.
The book tells the story of Raze who is a fallen angel turned vampire, he is also a bit of a tart!! He is sent to Chicago to follow a lead on something to do with some bad guy, to be honest I lost track of what it was. When there he meets Kim and in the 2 nights they spend together they fall in love ?!?
As I have looked into it this is a novella from part of a collec...more

A Dark Kiss of Rapture is a compelling story that may be short, but knows how to pack a punch. You can’t help but be intrigued by the Fallen while wondering how this will all turn out in the grand scheme of things. The sex scenes are sensual and the action is fast-paced. The characters are flawed, yet lovable with secrets that will either bring them closer together or destroy them both. Only time will tell what will happen as this saga continues. Bravo Ms. Day for writing an enticing prequel tha...more

3.75stars. This short is a prequel for Renegade Angel's series. It was easy to get into and leads well into A Touch of Crimson - the first novel of the series. I'd read that before I knew this was available and although it would have flowed better had I know this short was out it did not take away from the enjoyment of reading either story.

Someone has left a dead body on Raze's doorstep. No so easy to do as Raze is high in the Sentinel heirarchy, has a keen sense of hearing and smell. Clues lea...more

Kindle Version:

Honestly, it was a little slow to get going, but it did bed in after a chapter or 2. I can't tell a lie, it's a short one - possibly it might have eased the start, if it had been slightly longer and the beginning of the story was told in a less rushed way, in other words a bit more substance to setting out the plot.

All of the above, makes it sound like I didn't like it ..... actually, I really did, it seems an interesting concept - the whole fallen angel thing.

If there were any t...more
