The only good thing I can say for this book is that it was short! I'm not typically one to strongly dislike a book but for this I have to make an exception!

I read A Dark Kiss of Rapture by Sylvia Day to see if I would like the Renegade Angels series. It is a very short read and since it was free on Amazon, I figured it wouldn’t hurt to try. Ok....what to say.
I loved "Bared to You," so I figured I would read some more of Ms. Day's books. "A Dark Kiss of Rapture," being a prequel, I wasn't expecting to become engrossed and honestly as much as I wanted to be, I wasn't. I enjoyed the book and the love scenes were hot but I can't give it five stars, I just can't. Truly, I don't believe it has anything to do with the writing. It has to do with the fact, lycans and vamps, they just don't really do it for me...especially in a prequel. May...more

This was free on Kindle and after reading BARED TO YOU I wanted to read another tale by Sylvia Day to see more of her writing style. I really enjoyed the love story part of the book, and I also enjoyed the world Sylvia was building after a bit. At first I was confused by the new names and relationships.

Okay - so I knew this was a novella going into the book but just because it is a short story, shouldn't it still have the elements of a story....Beginning, Middle, End.
The Beginning was good - jumped right into action with the finding of the dead body and Raze going to Chicago to nip more trouble-making in the bud.

Let me start by saying the Renegade Angels series is one of my "must read" favorite series. A Dark Kiss of Rapture merely fueled that obsession. I was sooo angry that the story ended, it was like getting a teeny, tiny bite of cheesecake and being told you have to wait for the rest. Raze is one of the Fallen. As the title suggests, Raze is a Fallen angel, cursed with the affliction of vampirism for his transgressions. He hunts those who have gone through the Change and come out the other side "wrong". I wish Goodreads had half stars because while this book doesn't deserve 4 stars, it definitely doesn't deserve 3! A definite 3.5
There was a lot about this book that I liked, but I just couldn't love it no matter how much I wanted too, although I have nothing but good things to say about it.

This is a great little prequel to Sylvia Day's Renegade Angel series. I actually read this one after A Touch of Crimson and was able to enjoy it quite a bit.

Mmmmmmm. Raze. What a decadent creature. Raze is a Fallen Angel who is apparently the only to fall without knowing love first. And since he's lost his soul, love doesn't seem to be a possibility. Raze isn't a one lady kinda guy, but that's only because Kim hasn't sauntered into his life yet. I really liked Kim. While A Touch of Crimson tells the story of one of the angels, this novella tells the story of one of the vampire Fallen. I feel like I'm drowning in bad PNR these past few days. Here is another.
What is the purpose of a prequel? I think the purpose of a prequel is to introduce me to a series, maybe give an oportunity to learn about the PNR world, see if the writing style is for me before I spend my money on book 1. I liked the heroine a lot; very real and interesting, perhaps even witty. I did not connect with the alpha male and that is just a disaster when I read. I wanted to have hots for him and I didn't.

I got this book as a free download from iBooks. For a freebie, it was decent. I've never read any of her other books and I can't say that this one makes me want to purchase any. The storyline was predictable and unbelievable. Being a woman, I know there is no chance I will walk into a bar, pick up some random dude and then decide I want to spend the rest of my life with him 24 hours later. A Dark Kiss of Rapture is a compelling story that may be short, but knows how to pack a punch. You can’t help but be intrigued by the Fallen while wondering how this will all turn out in the grand scheme of things. The sex scenes are sensual and the action is fast-paced. 3.75stars. This short is a prequel for Renegade Angel's series. It was easy to get into and leads well into A Touch of Crimson - the first novel of the series. I'd read that before I knew this was available and although it would have flowed better had I know this short was out it did not take away from the enjoyment of reading either story.

Honestly, it was a little slow to get going, but it did bed in after a chapter or 2. I can't tell a lie, it's a short one - possibly it might have eased the start, if it had been slightly longer and the beginning of the story was told in a less rushed way, in other words a bit more substance to setting out the plot.
All of the above, makes it sound like I didn't like it ..... actually, I really did, it seems an interesting concept - the whole fallen angel thing.
