On a scale, I’m probably 80% happy and 20% not so much after the conclusion of HOT FOR FIREMAN.
Although the plot was pretty one focused in a way, the characters were the most disturbing part of the second book in the Bachelor Firemen novels.
From meeting Ryan Blake in THE FIREMAN WHO LOVED ME, I would have never thought he wouldn’t go after what caught his eye or question his abilities, but a year and a half since the first book and a major career mistake later, Ryan Blake is a changed man.

If only Ryan could make the last 18 months disappear then his life wouldn’t have gotten so far off track. This is the 2nd book in the series, but the first that I have read. I liked the writing style of Ms. Bernard. It was very engaging and I read the story in one night. Ryan is on a sabbatical and has been for about a year - since he had an incident at a fire scene and broke protocol. He is determined to get his job back at the fire department, but in the meant time is working as a bartender at Katie's bar. Katie is running the bar in place of her father who had a heart attack. She has no experienc...more
This was book two from The Bachelor Fireman Series and I am at a loss for words to tell you just how awesome this book was.
I have always, always had a very strong liking for fireman,ok more like a obsession and having read the first book from this absolutely stunning series I was definitely not going to miss out on this one.
This time around we get to know more about the sexy as sin, makes you weak at your knees with a mere look, toned in all the right places, Ryan Blake.

While I thought the previous book and the novella were cute, this one annoyed me. I liked Ryan well enough, he was a fun guy always willing to lend a hand and put himself out there. It was Katie who I didn't much care for. She's supposed to be this super smart girl but she is SO stupid. She seems to have no backbone when it comes to her family or her ex. Having trouble standing up for yourself to other people, I can understand. But your family has already seen you at your worst,...more

With every fiber of his body, Ryan Blake is a firefighter. His leave of absence from the San Gabriel Fire Department has lasted long enough. It is time for him to get back in the game.
Blunt, brash, outspoken–all describe Katie Dane, until it comes to saying no to her parents. Unfortunately, this is what has gotten her in the position she is in.
Katie is only supposed to be managing the Hair of the Dog until her father is well enough to return. However, it is becoming increasingly evident this may...more

Good book. Katie is stuck running the bar for her dad, who had a heart attack and must reduce his stress. The bar is not doing well and Katie is having problems paying the bills. She also has an ex-boyfriend who refuses to accept the ex part. Ryan is on leave from firefighting and at loose ends. So he takes a job as a bartender, enabling him to stay close to Katie. They have been having problems with fires breaking out at the bar, and Ryan's abilities as a fireman have come in handy to stop them...more

I love the hero of this story, Ryan Blake! Ryan was suspended from the notorious bachelor Fire Station One of San Gabriel over a year ago for a near deadly mistake. He returns to San Gabriel with the same cool blue eyes, devilish smile, and devastatingly muscular body, but he has out grown his normal flirty, risky, adventurous routines in and out of the fire station.
Too chicken to meet his Captain, Harry Brody, after his long departure from San Gabriel, Ryan walks into the decrypted bar Hair of...more

I loved the first book in this series and this one started off really well. Ryan Blake, the sexy but somewhat irresponsible fireman from book one is back and trying to get his life back on track. He sort of accidentally becomes a bartender at a local dive The Hair of the Dog being managed by Katie Dane, the owner's daughter. Ryan is attracted to Katie right away but she is pretty prickly. It seemed like the start of another good book. However, when Katie comes up with the idea of committing ars...more
I really enjoyed this book. There are aspects of the series that remind me of Suzanne Brockmann's Troubleshooters and the Tall, Dark and ... series. Well, I adore romantic series anyway-- especially when they are told from the man's POV. Unlike Brockmann's books, the relationships between the men aren't explored to any kind of depth which is something I would really like to see happen. And I like to see more secondary character development-- so you really look forward to that character's own sto...more
I loved Ryan Blake in The Fireman Who Loved Me. He was like a puppy, full of energy and easy to love. So imagine my surprise when I read the blurb from this book and found out the Ryan was on a leave of absence from the Station 1. WHAT?!?!?!?!
Ryan, being the thrill seeking, over eager firefighter that he was, made a bit of a mistake when he disobeyed a standing command and ran off on another call when he had no back up and that recklessness results in a civilian being injured and Ryan being forc...more

Notes: I read and eBook ARC (Advanced Reader Copy) of this one.
And another one bites the dust...
"I suppose I could use a hand"...Katie knew it was a mistake as soon as the words left her mouth. A whole night of working side by side with a man with such devastating good looks, the kind of looks that belonged on a movie screen where they could remain a fantasy, would lead to nothing but trouble.

A fun, sexy read! Taken from my review at RomanceJunkies.com:
HOT FOR FIREMAN by Jennifer Bernard
Ryan Blake lived to be a fireman. He had been proud to be a fireman at the San Gabriel’s Fire Station One. These men are legendary for their heroics, both on and off the job. That particular fire station is also famous for the fact that it is comprised mainly of bachelors. Some believe this is due to a curse, placed by a fireman after his coworkers teased him about his failed relationship. But no one...more

I was looking forward to Ryan’s story in Hot For Fireman and was disappointed. I fell in love with The Fireman Who Loved Me, the characters and Jennifer Bernard writing but I could not get into this book.
It started off okay with Katie and Ryan having some bickering moments but I did not feel any chemistry between them. The characters seemed flat.
The sex scenes were a bit rushed and I did have to read them again because I felt I missed a part. The sexual tension was not there like in her 1st bo...more

I wasn't sure how I'd like this book, as this is still a relatively new author to me. And honestly, though it was an entertaining read, I'm also left confused.
See, my first major gripe having to do with a key plot point - namely the great idea to start a fire for insurance money, which is also known as fraud. Why this would even occur to Katie, someone who seems like a relatively intelligent person, baffled me, and I didn't necessarily find it funny. It spiraled out in semi-ridiculous ways, and...more

Great continuation of the Bachelor Fireman series (because who doesn’t love a sexy fireman) but I felt like the gap that the author put in between stories made me miss a lot. Hot for Fireman follows Ryan Blake after he’s taken almost a year off from service for something that I don’t think was every fully explained. It’s almost like there was a novella I missed out on that explains a little bit more. Even though I was missing a little bit of the background, I loved the rest of the story. Ryan an...more
The first book in the Bachelor series was enjoyable, so I was looking forward to hearthrob Ryan's story. Then, the story focused on Ryan, who's working through issues that forced him to leave the firehouse (of course) and Katie, who I'm pretty convinced has some serious issues that she needs counseling for. (view spoiler)...more
I said it again and Jennifer Bernard is brilliant, naughty and imagination with this series. This is the story of Ryan Blake who in the first book, The Fireman Who Loved Me, seemed immature and boyish yet he has grown in all the right places. Ryan knows he messed up and is trying very hard to make amends with Captain Brody and the whole team but also to his peace of mind. Plagued with regrets and trying very hard to make things right Katie seems like the right woman to do it. These two together...more
2nd story in the Bachelor Fireman series. It is a decent read with Rick as a fireman and Katie as owner of a bar (she is working there and keeping the place going while her father is recovering from an illness). Rick is on leave from being a fireman due to his temper and impulsiveness. Rick starts working temporarily while waiting to go back to work as a fireman. Katie is working the bar but really does not like the work. Also, the bar is old, run down, and very expensive to run. She hatches a p...more
This is the second book in the Bachelor Firemen of San Gabriel by Jennifer Bernard. This story takes place approximately a year and a half since The Fireman Who Loved Me. In this book, we are re-introduced to Ryan, the young stud who was originally the intended date for Melissa in the first book. He has been on a leave of absence after a mishap that almost left a woman dead when she hid out in the plug-buggy and Ryan responded to a call alone, when he shouldn't have. A woman with a mental illnes...more
HOT FOR FIREMAN by Jennifer Bernard is fun, witty, endearing, gentle, sweet yet steamy hot and oh, so very sexy. It's everything you want in a relationship and that's everything you get in this story. THE HAIR OF THE DOG becomes a place where you find yourself wishing you can visit and most definitely hold your bachelorette party especially if you're always guaranteed to have hot firemen do a striptease on the bartop! Wow, did that event stimulate my imagination! Thank you, Jennifer!

I really liked Ryan after reading the first book in the series, so although the blurb had me kinda worried, I decided to take a chance.
Ryan is coming off a year long suspension, and desperately wants his job back as a San Gabriel Firefighter. But in order to get back on the force, he will have to take a test. So in the meantime he takes a job as a bartender at a hole-in-the-wall dive bar only a few blocks from the station. Ry...more

Hot for Fireman is book 2 in The Bachelor Firemen of San Gabriel series. We met Ryan in book one and I have been so excited for his story.
Ryan is a hotshot fireman. He has an incredible gift for fighting fires. His one downfall is that he often reacts to a situation before thinking it through. He took some risks and ended up getting suspended from the department. He left town for a year to get some perspective and do a lot of soul searching. He...more

Reading this book was so frustrating. I genuinely liked one of the characters and some of the story, and then there was the rest.
Ryan Blake was a nice guy. I liked the way she wrote his character because although he struggled with his dyslexia, it didn't make him whiny. He acknowledged his mistakes and the reasons for his job suspension. He was genuine and good to his friends and didn't use his upbringing as justification for not tempering his rage. I can't think of specific plot points that I l...more

Another GREAT read by Jennifer Bernard...I have to say for a new author...Jennifer is crankin out some AWESOME reads! If her first two books are any indication of the kind of fun, fantastic reads we will get out of Jennifer, then bring them on girl!!

Firefighter Ryan Blake has always had a bit of a problem rushing into things too fast. I very much enjoyed this book. I did have one or two issues with it that I overlooked because of the characters I liked so much. I didn't care for the starting fires part and thought it could have been handled differently. Most of the time I liked Katie Dane and all time I liked Ryan Blake. I also liked the other fire fighters in the story and can't wait for them to get their own books. The growth in this book worked well too. It's a feel good read.

DNF for me. What happened to the characters?? I kept on reading hoping to see more of the hero and heroine's evolution, but I had to put it away at the end of Chapter Seven when the heroine seriously considers doing the very stupid thing she wants to do (what would it have cost her to sit down with her father and have an actual mature conversation about how she feels and to ask him himself about his opinion of the bar?). No. Just no.

Jennifer Bernard is a graduate of Harvard and a former news promo producer. The child of academics, she confounded her family by preferring romance novels to any other books.
