Fated is in many ways, similar to Alyson Noel's previous series, The Immortals. From looking at the cover and reading over the blurb, you would think that this is an amazing book, right? This book has a lot of potential but I didn't enjoy it as much as I thought I would. Fated lacked something I was hoping for: an interesting plot. It wasn't the most exciting.

Yeah, I know right? Me giving an Alyson Noel book 3.5 stars? What sorcery is this?

To start off, yes, I did have low expectations for this book. After the absolute disaster that was The Immortals series, I didn't think there was any hope for Alyson Noel in the paranormal YA world anymore. But this book actually surprised me, because it was a pretty big improvement.

Meh.

I’ll follow up that very articulate statement with this: I did not like this book, but it isn’t bad enough to be marked as a one star. I save one stars for the very worst of evils, and this didn’t inspire that much dislike.

This book didn’t inspire much of anything, really.

I went into the book with no prejudices against Alyson Noel, as I’ve never read the Immortals series. To those of you who cringe at her name, though, I can say: LOL. I GET IT.

Fated was first in my reading list by Alyson Noel, and I have very high expectations from this book. Honestly the book didn’t exceed my anticipation but I can’t say that I’m not pleased. I loved some points where I was not completely satisfied by others.

Alyson Noel's new series Soul Seekers takes place in the same world as her Immortals series. There's even a short story where Daire meets Ever, which can be read here. When I found out it was the same world, my curiosity for Fated actually faded a bit. I guess it's because I ended up really disappointed with the Immortals series and I was just hoping this new series would be something completely fresh. I'm not going to lie and say it didn't have it's unique moments or that it wasn't an improvement from the Immortals, but in the world of YA paranormal novels, Fated doesn't stand out.

Now, if you're a fan of the Immortals series, I think you will like this book. It has a slow and steady pace. The writing style is consistent. The main character Daire isn't as...well, let's say she doesn't make quite as many bad decisions as Ever. (I have to admit, though, that there were some instances where I saw bits of Ever in Daire. Hopefully Daire's decision-making doesn't go downhill from here. I am worried, since I didn't think Ever was so bad in Evermore either...and then the other books happened.) Also, there's still plenty of magick. There wasn't nearly as much romance as you would expect, but it's there. There's other similar qualities; however, I want to make it clear that I'm NOT saying it's a replica of the Immortals. I'm saying it felt like an Alyson Noel novel, which may be a good thing if you're a fan.

As for me, I won't be continuing this series. I might read reviews with spoilers of future books, but I'm definitely not going out of my way to read the rest. Fated was too long and tedious and boring to me, and I know I can expect the same in the next book. I definitely don't want to go through that three more times either! I don't believe Fated brings anything new to the genre, nor does it stand out at all amongst other YA paranormal novels. It was somewhat of an improvement from the Immortals and that's about it. (And this may be me being picky, but I don't like male characters with long hair. Dace, the love interest, has it, and it's such a huge turn off! So yeah, that sealed the deal for me.) I think I would only recommend Fated to those who are already Alyson Noel fans.(less)

I liked the story and how Noel incorporated Spanish and Native American legions, especially with the spirit animals and what they symbolize. While the story was interesting, I did feel that the end too conveniently wrapped everything in a shiny, red bow for my taste.

And I really had a hard time liking Daire. I just found her to be too snippity and disrespectful. I understand she is a teenager, but there is a way to make a character spunky without making her such a brat. Also, in the dream where...more

I listened to this on audiobook and the audiobook was well done. The narrator does an excellent job conveying emotion and distinguishing between characters’ voices. The narrator also sounds exactly like I imagine Daire would sound. The CDs stop at good stopping points and don’t leave you absolutely in the middle of something while switching disks.

Daire travels the world with her professional make-up artist mother. She is constantly brushing shoulders with the rich and beautiful. That is until she starts having hallucinations of glowing people and severed heads. After drugging Daire to the gills doesn’t help her mother is forced to seek help from Daire’s elusive grandmother who lives in the town of Enchantment and is about to introduce Daire to a world she never imagined existed.

Daire is a super brat, she gets better towards the end of the book, but remains selfish throughout. She is so mean, abrasive, and annoying that I had trouble engaging with her at all. She is incredibly mean to her mother and dismissive with the people around her. She does grow and change a little as the book goes on, but not much. She is still making selfish decisions and treating her mother like dirt.

Daire’s grandmother is more interesting, but her speech comes off as formal and stilted and her conversations with Daire always sound awkward.

Then of course there are the two absolutely gorgeous twin brothers that Daire meets in Enchantment. One is evil (Cade) and one is good (Dace); one is out to destroy Daire and one is deeply good and in love with Daire before they even meet. When Daire finally meets Dace she is drawn to him but constantly tries to push him away and get him to leave her alone. In their second or third meeting, despite Daire’s protests, Dace is kissing her and has his hands up her shirt. Is this really okay? Not only are they in insta-love but Dace (the good brother) starts making out with Daire even though she says no. Really? And he is the good one?

Okay enough of that let’s talk about the story and world. The premise of the story is a fairly simple one. The brothers are part of a family of Coyotes who are evil and out to take over the world and plunge it into darkness. Daire and her grandmother are from a family that is a long line of Seekers, they are out to save the world from the Coyote’s influence. The magic and background are strongly influenced by Native American myth and magic. It’s an interesting, if simple, idea and makes for a more interesting premise than a lot of paranormal YA out there. This idea and premise are one of the redeeming qualities of this book.

The writing style is simple and easy to read. The pacing was a bit slow and it took a long time for the story to really become exciting and engaging. The book wraps up nicely and leaves the reader with a little cliffhanger to wet their appetite for the next book in the series.

Overall not my favorite YA paranormal book, but okay. I did enjoy the Native American premise to the story, this is different and more interesting than some of the other YA paranormal out there. I did not enjoy the characters; Daire is a brat and the twins are over stereotyped male leads. Daire’s relationship with Dace is full of insta-love making it goofy and obnoxious...not to mention he makes out with her despite her protests. The pacing is a bit slow and the plot fairly simple. I would only recommend if you are interested in reading a paranormal YA story with Native American bent to it. Otherwise I would skip this, there are many other better YA books out there.(less)

The book was... okay. That's really all I can say about it. It was pretty cliche, to be honest, but not awful.

- The names. I've learned that in teen books nobody can have a normal name. Obviously the first one to object to is her mom, Jennika. Okay now i'm the kind of person to be drawn to a book by the cover, so when i started this book i had no idea what to expect, i mean i read the plot but it wasn't anything too interesting, but i decided to read it anyway and check it out. This was all before i heard anything of "The Immortals" apparently the most hated series in the world (or so i've heard).

Now the book sets out pretty slow, and i'm not a patient person, so this ticked me off. Also the whole book consisted of back story to back story and it was annoying beyond relief.

Daire was a pretty boring character in all and Jennika pissed me off, what a careless mother, acting like moving from country to country, or city to city was a good living environment for her daughter, and how was she a good influence never sticking to one place or setting down roots and not letting anyone close to her or her daughter.

One thing i did like was Xotichl, she was a very good character to add and i'm glad 'Noel' had some sense to do that.

The love interest was missing...well the romance, by the end of the book it sounded like a really close friendship but not love in the least, accept for the kisses here and there. Also Dace was sweet but he was missing a little personality, which 'Noel' failed to add in his character.

I also thought that 'Noel' was trying to make the ending a little to "happy-friendly". I mean in what way does she think that Lita and her 'crew' were just going to make up with Daire and become all buddy-buddy, after everything that had happened, i mean that definitely wouldn't happen in real life.

The climax of the book which i thought was the entering the Underworld and chasing after the El Coyote ancestors and catching and destroying them, or else the whole world would be tormented for the damage they do did down there, but instead Daire chooses to chase after the one with Paloma's soul. She eventually gets the soul back but what exactly did she do to stop all the ruckus down there,NOTHING, the bone keeper lady was the one who captured all the monsters and detained them, Daire did absolutely NOTHING.

I can honestly say that my favorite part was the last few chapters, because in those the story actually picked up speed and something actually happened compared to the other, oh 20 or 30 something chapters, where it was boring as heck.

I gave this book 2 stars because i didn't really like the book and but i look forward to the next one because i believe more romance will occur in the next book and more action than it did in this book, but this book didn't hold my attention as much as i would have liked. I like my books to be so interesting and dramatic that i can't tear my eyes away until i'm finished and this book just didn't do it for me, so i don't think this is one of my books that i will re-read, but rather put on the shelf and leave it there. I really did enjoy this new book by Alyson Noël, It was amazingly mind-blowing novel, filled with magic, mystery, and a really awsome guy. Very much a typical Alyson novel.. and I loved it so much! I know when the Immortals series had ended I was really sad to see it go, as it was one of my favorite series, but this definitely filled that void. Not to mention, I had read the free short story of when Ever meets Daire (you can get it free at Amazon) it shows me its still the same type of world Ever was from. This is all about Daire and Dace, and its so beautifully written. With magic and suspense filling the pages with such a unique story, I can’t help but want more.

The book is about a whole new type of people, Soul Seekers, Daire has these visions, and she thinks she is going crazy, so goes to live with her grandma in New Mexico. Once there, she learns she is a Soul Seeker, and she starts her training with her. Then she meets the boy of her dreams, and then the bad one of course, some major stuff happens for sure. I do not want to spoil it for anyone.

I’ll say the story was beautifully planned, going from one chapter to the next was seamless, and its such a unique story, I was amazed at the time and effort I know she had to put into this story, I know she had to have visited New Mexico to get all that so perfect, as I myself have been there before, and she described it all so perfect.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who has enjoyed Alyson’s previous work, but even if you have not, this would be a good one to start with. It’s very well written, and has the mystical suspense going on in a very believable way too.

The Cover:
It's gorgeous. I love the yellow background, which is quite unusual, and the sepia toning used for the photo of Daire. The way her hair evolves into the flock of ravens is graphically attractive and a great hint at the novel's content. I'm loving the font, as well.

The Protagonist:
I liked Daire, even if I have no idea how to pronounce her name. (Then again, this is the same for most of the characters in Fated. What is it about paranormal YA and names I've never heard of?) I think tha...more

First Impression:
I have had hot and cold experiences with Alyson Noel's books in the past. Some I really, really liked. Some I could have just skipped over. The premise of Fated was enough to get me interested, but time would only tell what the final outcome of my feelings would be.

While Reading:
Fated starts with a lot of backstory. And I mean A LOT. While I am a huge fan of backstory, getting to really know my characters, Fated toes the line of enough information and too much information precar...more First Impression:

While Reading:
Fated starts with a lot of backstory. And I mean A LOT. While I am a huge fan of backstory, getting to really know my characters, Fated toes the line of enough information and too much information precariously.

Instead of interweaving details as the book progressed, readers are often told about the Native American culture and the book's characters in large chunks. Everything one could possibly want to know about Daire's grandmother, for example, is shared in about two or three pages. While I appreciate Noel giving the information that I crave about these characters, in this instance, I would have preferred to have had the details unravel a bit more slowly. Due to this, throughout the beginning of Fated, I really questioned whether this was the book for me. What initially drove me to the book was the promise of Native American folklore / mythos, and Noel does extremely well in bring this to the forefront of the book, but, at times, the exploration of this premise came across feeling too much like an info-dump.

Once readers get over the hump of the beginning, Noel really gets into a stride with Fated. Daire comes into her own, and the plot really begins to thicken. Honestly, I think Daire made this book. Although she and I did not always see eye to eye on many situations, she was the main redeeming quality that kept me going. I wanted to know what she would do next, how things would progress... how the romance would conclude.

Final Verdict:
Fated is a well set up first book... in places. Despite more than a few flaws, I found myself enjoying Fated more than I thought I would based on the beginning first few chapters. I love when a book can surprise me and Fated definitely did that more than once. Right now, the verdict is still out on me and this series, but I am interested enough to give book two a chance.(less)

Although I found the concept of the book interesting I had a hard time keeping myself in the book. It was a hard start and I continued to struggle with it well into the middle. But by the end, I found myself a little lost in the story and finished it more quickly then I had started it. Noel continually repeats herself making the reading of this book annoying. I couldn't understand what she was doing most of the time or why she was doing it. By the end, she did improve a bit but only to the point where I tolerated her rather than loved her.

Fated was very slow-paced. The characters spoke in monologue. And as a grammar girl, I was constantly frustrated by how there were so many sentence fragments that it was hard to tell what was complete and what wasn't! There's something about Alyson Noel's writing that you'll either love or hate, and I just couldn't get into it this time around.

BUT: I really liked the supernatural aspect of this book! As a part of their Soul Seeker magic, they can sort of draw energy from the earth and channel it into cool things like merging energies with a cockroach. It was different from the razzle-dazzle I'm used to in a cool way. Also, I liked the dynamic of Cade's evil twin to Dace's good twin; Cade's villain to Dace's Prince Charming.

With a gorgeous cover and fascinating premise, Fated was a book that I wanted to like so much more than I did! Maybe it had to do with the fact that I wasn't a huge fan of The Immortals series either. But if you did enjoy her other series or if you want to give the cool magic of this book a chance, then you might enjoy this series too! Who knows? Maybe I'm just one odd fish out of the water. :')

BUY or BORROW?: Unless you really liked Alyson Noel's other books, then I think that I'd recommend you borrow this book first! It's really hard to get into at the beginning, and there's a 50/50 chance you'll love it, give or take.

i LOve this author. so far, she doesn't disappoint. i love Daire's witty sarcasm in the first quarter of the book (no sure if it continues, as i'm not that far)

-it's a bit reminiscent to Ever, with her no-nonsense attitude

seriously wish i would have called in sick today so i could stay home and finish it....

This is a Did not finish book. Maybe one day I'll pick it up and continue reading this boring book. But right know I need a break. Until, I'm able to pick this up again, I'll rate this two stars. Maybe my rating and my thoughts will change if I ever finish reading this. So, I won't completely review it until then. Though,I should have known better since this is by the author of Evermore. For me Evermore was a dreadful book.

This is the first book in a series called Soul Seekers and is about Daire Santos, the last in a line of soul seekers. Of course she doesn't understand what is happening to her when she starts seeing things and has crows talk to her to the point where they want to institutionalize her. This book was so extremely disappointing that I grew frustrated and too easily tired of it, I contemplated locating the receipt going back to the book store and lying saying that I already had this one and could I please please please get my money back. Fated by Alyson Noel tells an interesting story that most teenagers will die to delve into it. Its deeply explains how a normal teenagers goes from a normal life to a Soul seeker life. The author briefly describes how this teenager goes through changes and the times she is tempted to break the rules of a Soul seeker.
Daire Santos thought she was a normal teenager that had spent almost all her life on movie scenes with her mother, until something weird started happening to her. She started to see visions of Crows haunting her and of people stalking her. The night she realizes how bad the visions got is when she uses violence to try to escape them; therefore, her mom and even the doctors won’t believe anything she says about the visions she sees. With her mom not knowing what to do with her daughters “insanity” she sends her off with her grandmother, Paloma, which she has never met. Daire looked for every little excuse not go to her grandma, but once Daire arrives there and spends a few week living with her grandma she realizes that she is not alone. She realizes that the women so called her grandma can help with the visions. As time passes she starts to see this boy with incredible blue eyes that shows up in all of her dreams and another boy that creeps her out within the same dream. Through out the helping of her grandma Daire finds out what it truly means to be a Soul seeker, and that el coyote is her enemy, which means that the family Richter are her worse enemy in the small town she is now living in. When Diares’ grandma thinks Daire is ready to go out into the world with out worrying about the visions, she sends her off to her first high school. There Daire is bullied by the “popular” girls, but she also meets these twins, Dace and Cade. To her surprise both guys are the ones that haunt her in her dreams but only one is Ritcher, which is Cade. Now all Daire has to do as a seeker is destroy her worse enemy and find out if Dace is her enemy or not and if they can be more then friends.
I really liked reading this book because everything the character went through seemed realistic. The way Daire felt when everybody thought she was crazy was understandable because many people won’t believe others about seeing visions. I could relate to her frustration when she was trying to adapt to the changes that were requisite as a Soul seeker because I had to adapt to changes when I came to the US. As she was trying to figure out difference between Cade and Dace she goes through bullying in her first high and sometimes I could understand how she felt. The ending took me by surprised but it was great. If your interests in a book are books that create good pictures in your mind, keep you guessing, romance, and that make you feel like u part of the story this is the right book for you. I rate this book as the number one book because it makes you feel as if you are in the story. I can’t wait to read another book by this author.

J'ai accroché à l'univers de ce livre, le monde des chasseurs est très intéressant à découvrir surtout en sachant que l'auteure s'est inspirée de récits chamaniques pour l'écrire, j'avais donc hâte à chaque fois de découvrir les nouveaux pouvoirs que l'héroïne Daire allait pouvoir découvrir. Και μπορεί όσον αφορά την πρώτη σειρά, η απήχηση από το μεγαλύτερο σε ηλικία κοινό να μην ήταν η αναμενόμενη όμως, σε ότι έχει να κάνει με τη δεύτερη, τα πράγματα είναι πολύ διαφορετικά καθώς το περιεχόμενό του, αν και θεωρητικά εφηβικό, έχει να δώσει κάτι περισσότερο και μάλιστα, κάτι πολύ διαφορετικό από την πρώτη της σειρά που την έκανε ευρέως γνωστή.

Πρωταγωνίστρια της ιστορίας είναι η Ντέαρ, ένα κορίτσι που μεγάλωσε με τη μητέρα του, καθώς ο πατέρας της χάθηκε σε ένα τραγικό δυστύχημα πολύ πριν γεννηθεί εκείνη, και που ποτέ δεν έζησε σε ένα συγκεκριμένο μέρος αλλά, εξαιτίας της φύσης της δουλειάς της μητέρας της, ταξίδευε σε ολόκληρο τον κόσμο. Όμως η Ντέαρ, κάθε άλλο παρά φυσιολογική είναι. Βλέπει παράξενα πράγματα, οράματα θα έλεγε κανείς, η ένταση των οποίων κορυφώνεται όταν κλείνει τα δεκαέξι της χρόνια. Όλοι την θεωρούν ψυχασθενή όμως η αλήθεια, είναι πολύ διαφορετική και κρύβεται στο παρελθόν της οικογένειας του πατέρα της, σε μια κληρονομιά που φέρει ως πρωτότοκο παιδί του την οποία, πρέπει να αποδεχθεί, να κατανοήσει και να ελέγξει, πριν αυτή ή κάποιος εχθρός της, φροντίσει να ακολουθήσει τα βήματα εκείνα που θα την οδηγήσουν στο θάνατο. Έτσι, θα βρεθεί στο Μεξικό, στο σπίτι της γιαγιάς της που δεν γνώρισε ποτέ, η οποία και θα αναλάβει να την μυήσει σε σημαντικά, αρχέγονα μυστικά και να την εκπαιδεύσει για να υπηρετήσει τον σκοπό με τον οποίο γεννήθηκε.

Νομίζω πως όσοι έχετε διαβάσει βιβλία της Noel, έχετε καταλάβει πως σκοπός της, δεν είναι να αφηγηθεί παραμυθένιες ιστορίες αλλά, κάτι βαθύτερο, πολύ πιο ουσιαστικό. Η Noel, χαρακτηρίζεται από μια έντονη προσωπικότητα, γεμάτη ανησυχίες και προβληματισμούς πράγματα τα οποία, ξεπερνάνε κατά πολύ την πεζή καθημερινότητα, όλα εκείνα που οι άνθρωποι μπορούν να κατανοήσουν απλά και μόνο επειδή τα βλέπουν, περνώντας σε ένα διαφορετικό επίπεδο. Αυτό ακριβώς κάνει και στους "Κυνηγούς Των Ψυχών", μελετώντας δοξασίες και αρχέγονες λατρείες και πεποιθήσεις ενός λαού, μιας φυλής, που αν και μπορεί να μας φαντάζει πολύ μακρινή, υπάρχει, ζει και λειτουργεί σύμφωνα με όλα όσα κληροδοτήθηκαν από τους προγόνους της. Υπάρχουν πολλές λέξεις για να τους περιγράψουν. Σαμάνοι, θεραπευτές, ανιχνευτές και ένα σωρό άλλες. Όποια όμως κι αν επιλέξουμε να χρησιμοποιήσουμε, η ουσία είναι ίδια, δεν αλλάζει και έχει τις ρίζες της βαθιά σε μια ιστορία που είναι εξαιρετικά γοητευτική και θες να μελετήσεις, να ανακαλύψεις τα βαθύτερα μυστικά της και να την κατανοήσεις.

Οι Κυνηγοί αυτοί, έχουν μια αποστολή, ένα καθήκον, να προστατέψουν τα τρία επίπεδα του κόσμου, με την βοήθεια των ζώων προστατών τους, και να εμποδίσουν τις δαιμονικές δυνάμεις να κατακτήσουν τον έλεγχο και να σκορπίσουν το χάος, τόσο στο γήινο επίπεδο, όσο και σε εκείνα των ψυχών. Οι εσωτερικές δυνάμεις και ο τρόπος αξιοποίησής τους, παίζουν τον σημαντικότερο ρόλο και μονάχα όσοι έχουν το χάρισμα και την πρόθεση να το αξιοποιήσουν, μπορούν να ανακαλύψουν την αλήθεια. Και ακριβώς αυτό, καλείται να κάνει η Ντέαρ. Και παρά την όποια αρχική της άρνηση, δέχεται να ακολουθήσει το πεπρωμένο της, όσο τρομαχτικό και δυσοίωνο κι αν είναι, παρά που γνωρίζει ότι μπορεί να οδηγηθεί στο θάνατο, πολύ πιο εύκολα απ' ότι αν ζούσε μια θεωρητικά, φυσιολογική ζωή. Διακυβεύονται πολύ περισσότερα από την προσωπική της ευτυχία που στην πραγματικότητα, είναι άρρηκτα συνδεδεμένη με την ισορροπία και την προστασία του κόσμου γύρω της που αν αρχίσει να καταρρέει και να βυθίζεται στο σκοτάδι, θα παρασύρει όχι μόνο την ίδια αλλά, και όλους όσους αγαπά.

Η γραφή της Noel, είναι πιο γοητευτική από ποτέ. Προσεγγίζει ένα πολύ ιδιαίτερο θέμα με έναν τρόπο, τόσο αναλυτικό και ξεκάθαρο που παρά την πολυπλοκότητά του, είναι απόλυτα κατανοητός, ακόμα και στον μη μυημένο αναγνώστη. Σε γοητεύει και σε καθηλώνει, έστω κι αν το βιβλίο συνολικά, δεν ανήκει στα αναγνώσματα εκείνα που θα περιγράφαμε ως εύκολα και εύπεπτα. Κατά την ανάγνωση του βιβλίου, χρειάζεται προσοχή και απόλυτη αφοσίωση, είναι απαραίτητο να ενδιαφέρεσαι να διαβάζεις, κάτι περισσότερο από μια ιστορία φανταστικού αφού, όσο παράξενα κι αν φαντάζουν όλα όσα πραγματεύεται, ίσως, να είναι πολύ πιο ρεαλιστικά και αληθινά απ' όσο μπορεί να χωρέσει ο κοινός νους. Γλαφυρή, περιγραφική, η συγγραφέας, μας ταξιδεύει και μας συστήνει ένα νέο σκοτεινό και γοητευτικό κόσμο μέσα στον οποίο χανόμαστε και που αν μη τι άλλο, θέλουμε να εξερευνήσουμε περισσότερο, να τον κατανοήσουμε σε βάθος και να βγάλουμε στην επιφάνεια, κάθε μικρό και μεγάλο του μυστικό. Πολύ απλά, αναμένουμε την συνέχεια με αγωνία.(less)

Well, all-in-all I think that was an interesting read. The end was so much better than the start, so the enjoyableness of the book increased.

Das Cover ist ein echter Blickfang. Die auffallenden Farben harmonieren super miteinander und die Gestaltung passt auch zum Inhalt des Buches. Was ich persönlich auch sehr schön fand, war die Idee, dass sich hinter dem Cover zugleich ein A3-Poster verbirgt.

Der Schreibstil hat mir gut gefallen. Es war sehr flüssig zu lesen und leicht verständlich, sodass ich dieses Buch in relativ kurzer Zeit gelesen habe. Die Geschichte wird aus Daires Sicht geschildert. Dadurch hat man natürlich sofort einen Draht zu ihr, da der Leser auch große Einblicke in ihre Gefühlswelt bekommt.

Daire ist ein sehr sympathische Protagonistin. Mit ihrer offenen Art hat sie bei mir sofort gepunktet. Ihre Gefühle konnte ich jederzeit nachvollziehen, weshalb sie mir vor allem zu Beginn sehr leidgetan hat. Später habe ich sie dann bewundert, da sie mit ihrer Gabe offenbar keine Probleme zu haben scheint. Sie ist ein wahres Naturtalent. Beneidet habe ich sie auch, da ich auch gerne einmal fühlen würde, wie die ganze Welt pulsiert und jeder Gegenstand sein eigenes Lied singt. Sehr faszinierend!

Cade und Dace gehören zur Familie der Richters und sind somit die größten Feinde der Familie Santos, zu der sich auch Daire zählt. Auch wenn sie Zwillinge sind, sind sie sehr leicht zu unterscheiden. Cade ist der typische "Bad Boy", während sich Dace eher zurückzieht und das Rampenlicht keineswegs genießt. Er bietet Daire mehrmals seine Hilfe an und sorgt sich auch sehr um sie. Sein Bruder hingegen legt ihr mit großem Vergnügen Steine in den Weg und macht ihr das Leben schwer. Weshalb dies allerdings so ist, werde ich euch nicht verraten.

Xotichl, die meiner Meinung nach einen wirklich schrägen Namen hat, entwickelt sich im Verlauf der Geschichte zu Daires bester Freundin. Auch wenn Xotichl ihr Augenlicht verloren hat, scheint sie jederzeit zu wissen, was um sie herum geschieht. Egal ob es sich um Daires Stimmung handelt oder um die Farbe ihres Pullovers - sie weiß jederzeit Bescheid. Sie genießt das Leben in vollen Zügen und versucht immer das Beste aus einer Situation zu machen. Dieser Optimismus überträgt sich übrigens auch auf Daire.

Als die ohnehin schon spannende Geschichte dann ihren Höhepunkt findet, war ich ziemlich überrascht. Plötzlich geht es Schlag auf Schlag und dann ist es auch schon vorbei. Man konnte einfach nicht aufhören zu lesen, bis man dann auf der letzten Seite angekommen ist. Das Ende hat mir persönlich sehr gut gefallen, sodass ich mich schon richtig auf den nächsten Band "Soul Seeker 02. Das Echo des Bösen" freue, der voraussichtlich am 22. Juli 2012 erscheint und somit ein perfektes Geburtstagsgeschenk für mich wäre.

Fazit: "Soul Seeker - Vom Schicksal bestimmt" ist der mitreißende Auftakt einer sehr vielversprechenden Reihe. Alyson Noël hat mir mit ihrem Roman einige schöne Lesestunden bereitet. Ich kann dieses Buch jedem Fantasy-Liebhaber getrost ans Herz legen.(less)

I had several responses as I read Fated.

I rolled my eyes and laughed aloud at the ridiculous ways that Noel presented "Native American" culture. It is bogus, so those of you who (in your reviews on Goodreads and elsewhere) think you're getting a peek into Native ways, forget it. You're not.

I felt confusion at the mish mash of peoples identities. If you read fast and don't care much about backstory, you probably missed that morass of identity. There's "Native American" characters, but without a...more

Fated is a book I was reading and the author is Alyson Noel. Alyson is a great writer. This will her 20th novel and Fated starts it off and followed by Echo, Mystic, and Horizon.
The book Fate is based on a girl about to be sixteen years old who gets visions and she has to go on adventures and the setting of this book is enchantment Mexico. The culture in this book is Hispanic and native an American which I thought was pretty neat. She finds out that she is destined to be seeker. That means she t...more
