The voice of waterfalls
by
Natasha A. Salnikova (Goodreads Author)
Inga manages to escape from a "house of terror" where she was held as a captive along with other girls who were kidnapped. She is chased into the woods and runs onto the road, almost falling under the wheels of an approaching car. She thought, it would be better to die that way than to return to her captors. The driver of the car, to her surprise, saves her. He brings her...more

You would think that, after escaping from being held as a sex slave, life would look up for Inga. I mean, how much bad luck can one person get? A lot, apparently, as Inga is thrown from one disaster into another. As she runs away barefooted from the very people who kidnapped her, locked her up, raped her, beat her and threatened to kill her whenever she did something wrong, she is rescued by a young man named Alman. Although he appears friendly enough and offers her a place to stay for the night...more
From the moment I read the synopsis about this book, I knew I wanted to read it. I just finished it today. Natasha Salnikova really has a wonderful book here. And a little fact about it, it was translated from Russian! That impresses me so much. You can definitely see some of the author’s Russian heritage in the book from some of the names used, foods mentioned.
So from the blurb we learn that Inga was kidnapped and held captive with other girls. But then someone comes along and she is afforded...more

Natasha Salnikova did a wonderful job with the novel "The voice of waterfalls" that took place in Quiet River, Washington. This was a indeed a scary thriller. The story was of a kidnapped twenty-three year old girl named Inga who had been rescued from one sex slave situation to only be put into a even more horrible situation.

More than I like to read thrillers, I like mystic. And this book is a very good example of this genre. It has it all: twists of fate, creepy heroes, good atmosphere that really makes you belive everything that`s going on. Though I don`t like past-raped heroines in books, sometimes it`s kind of neсessary to show that aspect of our reality: you never know where you`ll fall, girls just can`t be too careful these days. If you`ll trust every stranger that says he`ll help, there`s a big fat chance you...more
Wow…what a life this young women had for a few months. I cannot imagine escaping one nightmare just to end up in another. Inga is a strong female character caught in something much larger than her. The book flowed well and I was wanted to know what was going to happen. I had a hard time putting the book down and even when the supernatural aspects started I still wanted to keep reading.

After being kidnapped and used as a sex-slave, Inga finally manages to escape. She is picked up on the road, and rescued from her captors. But at what cost? Just when you think she is home-free, Inga ends up in another situation even more dangerous than the first. All she wants is to get back home to her worried mother, but first she has to survive.

Initially When I was reading this I though that it was written by someone whose language was not originally English - then I discovered that it was actually translated from Russian and all the little quirks I noticed made much more sense.
That out of the way- this a bit of a gem of a story. I haven't quite read a similar story. It mixes the dark humanity with an element of pure evil and blends them quite well. I also liked how the two main stories "collided". It also raises the concept of those w...more

The Voice of Waterfalls is a psychological thriller filled with loads of suspense. The story's main character Inga is a 23 year old girl who has already been through hell and back even before the main story starts. After barely escaping from being a sex slave and believing she is home free, Inga manages to find herself in an even worse predicament. This story blew my mind, it's that good. Natasha A. Salnikova's writing is excellent and it's one helluva roller coaster, so hold on! I've never read...more
That's one heck of a thriller!
A fellow writer myself, I knew I could work out all the plot turns in The Voice of Waterfalls if I really wanted to, and still the story kept me on the edge of my seat. I knew of course that the two protagonists, Inga and Anton, were bound to meet in the end, but watching them overcome all the hardships and second-guessing their inner choices - each with his or her own skeletons in the closet - was for me the best and most intriguing part of this book.
