Do you remember Colin from my Tempting Teaser of A Night to Surrender? No? Well, let me refresh your memory. Colin is an unrepentant rake. He enjoys women and they enjoy him. He is arrogant and can come across as quite an ass. But what does he care? The women love him just as he loves them. He might have a tendency to make a mess of things but he always manages to put on a charming smile and turn the situation to his advantage.

For amateur geologist Minerva Highwood, her passion for science is equaled only by her love for her sisters. Fearing that Colin Sandhurst, Lord Payne that lazy, aimless, dim-witted rake might have designs on her beautiful, sweet sister, Minerva proposes a plan to Colin whereby both of them will end up winners. And her sister will be safe from the clutches of an arranged Society marriage.

If Colin escorts her to Edinburgh, Scotland and helps with her presentation to the Royal Geological S...more

I can't believe I've had this book loaded on my Kindle for months, and I'm just now reading it! A Week To Be Wicked is the second installment in Tessa Dare’s Spindle Cove series and it’s such a deliciously fun read!

Minerva Highwood is considered by many to be the most unlikely girl to find love and marriage. Even her own mother constantly berates her and continually chisels away at her self esteem with her harsh remarks. You see, Minerva is different. She’s a scientist; a geologist who spends h...more

5.00+ Stars - Historical/Regency Romance!

An outstanding historical read! Definitely one of the shining stars of 2012 so far!
Though part of a series, this one can certainly be read as a stand-alone.

I loved the mischievous banter between the two leads, the absurd funny stories that Colin sprouted shamelessly, the undeniable passion between them and the ending! I loved the ending :)

5 stars – Historical/Regency Romance

Wow! What can I possibly say about this one to convey how absolutely wonderful it is? Talk about a charming, wickedly splendid read and a smashing good time! A Week to Be Wicked is one of the most engaging, refreshing, witty, banterific, and all around pleasing historical romances that I’ve read in quite a while and definitely so far this year.

Colin is a handsome, flirtatious, affable, generous, funny, sweet, and utterly lovable scoundrel whose tormented past...more

I was really excited to read this story and I think that it absolutely lived up to my expectations.

Minerva is the spectacle-wearing, intelligent, geologist sister to the lovely Diana Hightower, who rumor has it, is going to be offered a proposal by Colin. Well that just won’t do. Colin is not only a rake, but he’s a bit of an ass too. Minerva won’t allow him to propose to her sister; Diana deserves to marry for love.

And she has a plan.

4.5 stars - Delightfully wicked!

Although I didn't enjoy this quite as much as the first book in the 'Spindle Cove' series, 'A Week to be Wicked' was still fun, lighthearted, and very charming... and, really, what more can you ask of a fluffy-fun historical romance?

Part of what I loved so much in 'A Night to Surrender' was Spindle Cove itself - that small seaside village filled to capacity (and then some) with eccentric young ladies and would-be spinsters, a hodge podge militia and three manly m...more

This is the first book I've read from this author and I must say, I could not have chosen a better introductory novel!

An absolute delight to read! It had everything I love in a historical! It made me laugh and it made me cry, not only for their HEA but because I didn't want it to end! I loved the H/h. Colin and Minerva were so perfect for each other and made for a sensual, playful, sizzling romance! Their adventures on the road to Scotland provided so many hilarious and heartfelt moments! FIVE stars! Intense, funny, sensual, passionate, and flat out wonderful!! I can't get this book out of my head.

It's taken me a bit to write this review. I just couldn't come up with what I wanted to say. Often, if I hear that a book is funny, that's all it is in my little head. A funny book. This book was funny, but SO MUCH MORE! It's as if the humor just added to the intimacy between Minerva and Lord Payne...they built their relationship on mutual snarkiness and slow growing affection. They act...more

This book is all sorts of amazing!! AN ABSOLUTE MUST READ!!!!

Thank you Tessa Dare for writing such a truly wonderful book and creating such an unforgettable couple in Colin and Minerva! You made me laugh; you made me cry; you made me blush; you made me sigh.

Happy, happy, joy, joy! Warning! I'm going to gush and salivate all over this review. If it's not clear already, I loved this book.

"A Week to Be Wicked" turns the standard historical romance plot on it's head. This story is an adventure about two imperfect people finding a perfect love. Sounds sappy, but I'll never be able to put into words how incredible this book is and how much it made me feel. I laughed the entire time. I wanted to slap myself silly for crying when they got their happily ev...more

I tremendously enjoyed this read. It was near perfect, a micture of hilarious dialogues, romantic gestures, highly likeable and intelligent characters, and an overall great writing-style, A Week to be Wicked blew my mind and is one of the only historical romance novels that I will reread every year.

Tessa Dare is very talented and created something wonderful here. Many authors seem to have issues when they try to create complex and deep characters and still make them funny. Sure, there are those...more

Dear Ms. Dare,

As I read A Week to Be Wicked, I kept thinking about Cyndi Lauper’s assertion “Girls just want to have fun.” The heroine of this book, Minerva Highwood, prior to hitting the road with your hero, Lord Colin Payne, really hasn’t had much fun. She certainly hasn’t had any fun where men are concerned. As her mother writes in a letter to cousin—her rather awful mother actually dictates it to Minerva to write—

Minerva? Plain, bookish, distracted, awkward with gentlemen. In a word, hopeles

Be still, my fluttering heart. My feelings are having feelings right now. Thank you Colin and Minerva for sharing your story. Or rather, thank you Tessa for writing their story!

As this epic love story just needed telling.

If I only had one word to use for this awesomely delicious adventure, it would be 'revelatory'. I've caught myself surprised numerous times in my reading, which, needless to say, is thoroughly wonderful and satisfying. I was already more than halfway in lustlove with Colin and I already held Minerva dear, dear to my heart in ANTS, but AWTBW elevated that love for them to new heights.

Loved this book. Colin and Minerva had me laughing from the get go. I loved how he pretended not to know her name and called her Matilda, Marissa, any female name that started with a "M". But she was no soft spoken virginal spinster she adventurous with a quick witted tongue. If you love books where the so called homely, intelligent, kind hearted, and under appreciated heroine wins the dashing rake than you'll love this book. A wickedly hilarious and delightful book!

Geologist Minerva Highwood loves her rocks more so than her men. Actually that’s untrue, it’s just one particular man that sets her on edge and it’s the incorrigible rogue Lord Payne – Colin. A bluestocking, with an intelligent mind she certainly keeps Colin on his toes.

Lord Payne is one hot, loveable, cheeky and absolutely adorable rogue. He’s continuously messing up, saying the wrong things at the wrong times. It’s hard not to fall in love with him. Alt...more

This is the story of a disgustingly charming liar of a dissolute rake who is hopelessly schoolboy smitten with a courageous, loyal, curious, bespectacled geologist wallflower.

If you think that sounds delightful and hilarious and also hot, you would be correct.

Absolutely hands-down one of my favorite love stories. I loved everything about the story and the hero and heroine could not have been more perfect for each other. If you don't love this book from start to finish, you're crazy! :) COLIN + MINERVA 4EVERRR!11!!

What a fabulous book with excellent characters and even better adventures. Colin and Minerva are simply amazing. Their banter and travels are hilarious or fascinating as Minerva would say. I giggled throughout this book and blushed on more than one occasion. There are some hot scenes however they aren't smutty but well written. I just loved loved loved this book. And I loved Colin. And Minerva's unraveling into a confident woman. Basically this book rocked. Definitely worth 5 Stars!

This is the second novel in this series. We have seen Susanna Finch and Bram, the new Earl of Rycliff married, and Violet Winterbottom with her Christian and now we watch as Minera Highwood teams up with Viscount Colin Sandhurt. These two are highly unlikely. I would say my least favorite part of this book was how Minerva’s mother spoke to her. I think her mother must love her, but she treated her like poo! This book was not as humorous as the first one, but I still enjoyed it.

This book was a pleasant surprise. Going by the blurb alone, I didn't really have high hopes and even with the little snippets from A Night to Surrender, I thought the premise was little silly and unrealistic. But I was so very wrong.

A Week to Be Wicked was a really enjoyable read. It was full of humour making me laugh and sigh and the same time and from the opening line Tessa Dare captured my undivided attention.

Minerva Highwood is a confirmed bluestocking spinster living in Spindle Cove who wants nothing more than to be recognized and able to present her latest findings to the Royal Geological Society of Scotland. With that in mind, she has elected to bare her soul and risk everything to ask a rake of the first order to help her achieve her mission, namely Colin Sandhurst, Viscount Lord Payne. This was better than the first in the series. The couple met in that book -- A Night to Surrender -- and they sparked like crazy. Not in a good way. So you just knew they were destined to end up together.

Lord Colin Sandhurst is an unserious rake who can't wait to get back to his life in London after taking care of the Spindle Cove militia started by his cousin, the Earl of Rycliff (A Night to Surrender's hero). Colin has all kinds of back story that make his behavior make sense, but he's definit...more

You guys, I cut my teeth on Historical Romance, but lately I have strayed into the netherworld of YA and NA and all other genres. Basically, everything BUT Historical Romance. Let me explain why: I am/was a history major. I gots my degree recently (thank you for the congrats ;). As a result, I have a hard time turning off my textbook brain. Some authors take a LOT of liberties when writing Historical Romance which is fine, it's fiction, I get it. Unfortunately, when you mess things up by a centu...more

Pleasant enough to pass the time, but I was not wowed or enchanted. At best, I did not wish it would be over.

Colin is the kind of guy who is fun at parties - coming up with entertaining ideas and things to do. He tells lies for fun. He’s never been serious about responsibilities or studying in school. Minerva has spent her life in books and field trips studying geology. She’s discovered an unknown lizard’s footprint and wants to present it at a geological society meeting in Scotland. She asks Co...more
