The cover: Pretty! But, the angle of her arm, (the right side of the picture), looks odd, almost like her forearm from the elbow down is missing. Especially if you look at the cover from a distance or as a thumbnail image.

The book, (so far!), I am halfway through so here's half a review lol: I wonder if Jocelyn Davies enjoys skiing and wintery sports? There's a lot of "skiiers are teh shizzle!" vibe what with how close they are to nature and Skye using skiing to focus her powers, etc. At times...more

"We weren't light and we weren't dark. We were the in-between . We were somenthing fractured and put back together again, better, stronger, illuminating the night. "

Skye Parker has a decision to make between The Rebellion and The Order, but how can she choose when a part tried to kill her and the other maybe wants to use her?
This book was more about Skye's feelings and her struggles to understand if she should join The Rebellion and why Devin did what he did at the end of the first book.

Εκτός όμως όλ...more

I can't get enough of this series! I am so in love with the characters, the story, the epicness, the romance, everything! Skye's journey through her 17th year continues. She obviously lives and didn't die by Devin's hand. Asher is so sweet and caring for her that I still can't figure out if I'm rooting more for Asher or Devin. However I'm leaning more toward Devin. He is so tortured and broken after almost killing her and then getting bonded during his grief it is impossible not to love this guy...more

3.5 Stars.
Ok, like the last book, i really wasn't feeling anything special. I still prefer Devin to Asher and it upsets me because they won't end up together :(
Spoiler's up ahead. Don't read on if you haven't read this book.
This book picks up right where a beautiful dark ends. Skye is healed by Raven and her powers end up giving her silver wings. Both rebelion and order. She decides to start her own race. With Ian, Raven and aunt Joe by her side she will try and make peace between the Order and...more

My Thoughts:

This is a book two in A Beautiful Dark series. I read and reviewed A Beautiful Dark while back and I though it was alright. I was at the library the other day when I spotted this book, I did not realise that book two was already out.

I read this book in one night, it was easy read. Book two picks up from where A Beautiful Dark left off, cliffhanger ending. I am bit disappointed with book two, I though that there was going to be more action and more of everything. I have to say it wa...more

A Fractured Light takes off immediately after the events of the A Beautiful Darkness when Skye was almost killed by Devin. Asher takes her to a remote cottage so that she can recuperate. Once she’s comes back home, she realizes that the Guardians are everywhere (Devin is back too) and her life as she knew it did not exist anymore, but she still tries to hang on it for as long as she can. She also starts trying to get her new powers under control. As far as her love life is concerned, she is happ...more

I disliked the first one. I hated the writing, the huge font, and Asher and Devin.

"A Fractured Light picks up right after A Beautiful Dark's shocking cliffhanger ending and is perfect for fans of Lauren Kate's Fallen and Becca Fitzpatrick's Hush, Hush saga."

Ooh that's why! Now it makes sense. I hate Fallen and Hush, Hush with a passion. The first book belongs to that group of book. A special girl that has powers, with an asshole lead that treats like crap.

No thank you. I ain't reading this. Ne...more

Once upon a time I imagine I would have eaten a book like this up. Love triangles and world breaking power; on the path of light or dark?

I've changed since then. I've read more, learned more, and I can't deal with such simplicity anymore. I don't think my feelings towards A Fractured Light are entirely due to the faults of the book, but I don't want to read this type of story anymore. It doesn't appeal to me.

Almost nothing whatsoever of note happened in this book. I'm not exaggerating; I think...more

Well I actually read a lot of bad reviews about the first book 'A Beautiful Dark". I thought it was ok, it was not spectacular or somthing, it was just a book to get to learn the characters and that's it.

That was why I expected so much from the second book, people already knew about the story so we could get to the juicy part. Well, Huge dissapointment here, it was kinda annoying. It just didn't seem realistic to me, Devin tried to kill her but hey she is still into him. COME ON!
And you had thos...more

While I want to thank First Reads and HarperTeen for providing me a copy of A Fractured Light, I have to be honest and say that I did not enjoy this novel. I found the writing to be filled with cliches and dependent on overly dramatic phrases. The plot was nearly devoid of action until the last ten pages and had an absurd amount of holes (Why doesn't Skye care who healed her at the end of A Beautiful Dark? Why doesn't the Order ever try to kill her again while she's on any of her countless hikes...more

This was an amazing story that picks up right after the cliffhanger ender of book one. I loved the control that Skye gets over her powers and the closeness that she is feeling for Asher, but she also is feeling distance from her friends because she can't tell them the truth and it hurts. Then she finds out that her Aunt Jo is a rogue and has known all along and she herself has been trying to keep Skye safe. She is also having visions which the only person she can talk to about is the person who...more

Alright, I'll be honest in saying that as much as I wanted to like this book, I just couldn't feel it. Starting with the plot.

I expected the plot to move a lot more that what it did. Yes, the reader gets more info on both the rebellion and the order. I liked learning more about both groups especially what their motives really are. Still, the reader doesn't get much but instead bits and pieces. Nothing really moves till the ending of the book when things finally come together.

The love interest. U...more

Wow, what a fantastic read! A Fractured Light was a fabulous sequel, as unputdownable as the first book in the series. I utterly adore Asher. Adore him. Just like in the last book, he's cheeky and cracks jokes, and he certainly lets Skye know his feelings for her. And I can't find fault with that. Something new about Asher though was how open he was in his fear for Skye's safety. There was still cocky bravado, but his fears weren't as hidden as before. There are times when he's obviously holding...more

Spoiler Alert
Alright to start off it was a good s most of them are but it was filled with lots of filler.
When we first begin we wake up with Skye in the cabin. She's Confused and disoriented and of course Asher is there with another rebel angel talking about Skye and her oh so awesome powers. After being awake for a couple of days Skye decides she wants to stop being a victim and face her "destiny". Of course upon returning home Skye learns that her town has been over run with angels of the o...more

Light and Darkness. Chaos and Control. Love and Sacrifice. A Fractured Light is a gorgeous story of a world hanging on a balance; and how one girl's decision will change everything.

You know, for someone who claims to be tired of angel stories, I have to say that I have been on a real "angel high" lately. And honestly, I was a little worried about reading A Fractured Light. Don't get me wrong, because I did enjoy A Beautiful Dark. I just found parts of it to be very frustrating. I didn't like no...more

After reading A Beautiful Dark, the first book in this series, I really was looking forward to this second book. The cover is nice, as was the first one! The book however, is a huge disappointment! It had a ton of awesome potential, but most of it failed hard, only the end is suprisingly good. The suprising twist in the end should have been there throughout the entire book, maybe than it wasn't that bad. The book starts good and ends good, but the middle is lost to me. It took me 3 weeks to read...more

I was afraid that Skye was going to dissolve into one of those girls who go all soft and gooey after falling in love and getting the guy. It really seemed like it was heading in that direction at first, but I'm delighted to say that Skye still has her head together at the end of this book, if not her heart. She's still one tough cookie. She still yearns for a normal life, but her fear for the safety of those close to her prevents her from telling them the truth about what's happened to her. Unde...more

I fell in love with A Beautiful Dark, I truly did. I needed this second book, especially with that killer cliffhanger! Not just did I love the story about angels but I absolutely loved the characters and the ultimate approaching battle between good versus evil.

I am so happy with the second book, like really excited. The third book is going to be full of epic, it really is. Skye truly grows up in A Fractured Light. She grows in to her destiny and I knew where she was going all along. I didn't, ho...more

3.5 out of 5 rating

I didn't remember too much of what happened from the first book, but I jumped right in to this one and was easily more than halfway through the book before I came up for air the first time. It just flew by and was so easy to get absorbed in.

Checking my review from the first book, I was more into Asher than Devin (for the whole love triangle thing) and while I'm still Team Asher, I wasn't as into him as before. I feel like he really did love Skye but that he was trying too hard...more

The story starts from where it left..believe me i thought the skye was dead LOL...but i was so happy to see skye and asher together..

Skye has survived the attack of order and when she sees asher and spends time with him..she thinks she knows what to do - to join
rebellion..but there's some doubt which she cant deny and some questions which need answers.

Coming back to the life she left was last thing she wanted but she needed to face her friends, her aunt, the guardians and also DEVIN..she can't st...more

Like its predecessor, A Beautiful Dark, I really enjoyed this book. It's not perfect by any means, but there was a lot to appreciate about it.

Firstly, Skye experienced a lot of character growth throughout the novel. Unlike in the first book of the series, Skye made a conscious effort to exert more control over her life, make her own decisions, and resist the pressures of others. She also made great strides in understanding how her actions affected her friends and family. She learned to take resp...more

I'm a little torn on A Fractured Light. It's the second book in a trilogy, and started to fall into the slump a lot of second books seem prey to, and yet it managed to stay just enough outside of the hole that I still really enjoyed the book. I just felt some of the middle started to stretch and drag a little more than I'd like.

A Fractured Light starts out only a few days after the end of A Beautiful Dark. It comes out kicking and I was completely into it. Davies doesn't let the story start on a...more

I wasn't particularly impressed with this one. It wasn't that I disliked it, but I just wasn't overly excited. It was a good read as a whole it was just a bit slow moving for me.

I love asher and devon but I want her to have nothing to do with either of them. They complicate her life trying to use her for the powers that outshine theirs combined.

The girl is powerful and they both know it.

I'm not sure where this is going after reading this book, but I expect that there is going to be this epic or...more

I have to say I did not enjoy this book as much as the first one as there was next to nothing on the action front. There was no big build up and the a climax at the end the book seemed to just.. stop. I honestly counldn't believe the book was over. It felt like I was half way through because nothing had really happened in the book. Nothing that made me shocked or kept thinking over. Nothing that really drew my attention. The book seemed to just get duller and duller and I was waiting for the pic...more

“I am always torn. Between control and chaos; passion and tranquility. Between what's fated and what I want. Part of me longs to take the plunge, to dive off headfirst and let the feeling of control evaporate on the wind. And part of me wants to be in a place where I'd never have to worry about that choice--or any choice. Where peace and calm are the only things I'd feel.” 13 people liked it
“Why would he do that? I thought--he said--he loved me." "As if I needed a reason to hate him more," Asher muttered, avoiding my gaze.” 6 people liked it
