The Claimed by Caridad Pineiro is the second book in her Sin Hunters series. This book focuses on Victoria Johnson, a Light Hunter and Christopher Sombrosa, a Shadow Hunter. The Light Hunters and Shadow Hunters have been at odds for centuries, probably because the Shadow Hunters feed from their Light Hunter cousins.

I must admit that this book was confusing at first. So many terms are thrown at the reader: Anaru, Quinchu, Cadres, Equinoxes, etc. I had read The Lost and it still took me a while to...more

I’m a big fan of paranormal romance, so when I read the synopsis for Caridad Pineiro’s The Claimed, I knew I had to read this book. The synopsis sounded intriguing, and all in all, this was a book worth reading.

We’re introduced to Victoria Johnson. Victoria is a member of the Light Hunter Clan; a race of people with superhuman powers. Victoria is at the age where she must find a mate. She wants to find someone she can love, but her parents only want her to find a suitable partner. Given that Vic...more

This is my first book by Caridad Piñeiro. Although I didn't read The Lost (Sin Hunters), prior, I was still able to follow the plot and storyline of the series. So I think this could be a stand alone. However,I think I will read book one for the foundation of the plot. This was and enjoyable read with a few small buts, but I was still entertain to get through the story.

Shadow Hunters and Light Hunters both are interesting paranormal concept. Shadow H...more

Victoria Johnson lives in a small beachside town where she has what she needs in that she is her own boss and has some great friends. The only problem is that her friends really don’t know who she really is and that is someone with superhuman powers that she has because she is an heiress to an ancient race. Victoria is a Light Hunter whose sole duty is to restore her people to the glory they once had and to do that she has to find the perfect mate.

Christopher Sombrosa is a Shadow Hunter that ha...more

The Claimed is my first book by Caridad Pineiro, and although it was out of my comfort zone of normal books I enjoyed it. It was a well written trip into a world I have not experienced before. I think I would have enjoyed it more if I had read the other books of the series, and knew the entire back story.

Victoria Johnson has a great life. She is her own boss, and is surrounded by great friend. Her only wish is that her parents will let her pick h...more

Light and Shadow, good and evil come together and no-one, well almost no-one, is happy about it. Victoria is the heir leader to the Light Hunters and Chris is the heir leader to the Shadow Hunters. They are supposed to be enemies and Chris is supposed to be suffering from small pox, but neither of those things happens.

Chris and his group of followers have shunned the practices of the Shadow Hunters and do not take life force from people or other hunters; this has resulted in his group not havi...more

This is the first I have read from Caridad Pineiro and have to say I started on a good series. This is book 2 but can probably read as a standalone. The Dark Shadows and the Light Ones are at odds again. One side was to do good which is Victoria Johnson’s family and the Dark Shadows, Christopher Sombrosa’s family are unfortunately the bad one. Yet I loved that even though he is from the bad family Chris is trying...more

In The Claimed, the second book in her Sin Hunter’s series. Here, we meet Victoria the daughter of the Light Hunter Ocean Clan. Her parents had planned for her to be mated to Adam who was the next ruler for his Desert clan. Victoria is a Quinchu, a ruler, guarded by a cadre from her Clan. Her Captain is Raphael. They grew up together and she thinks of him as a brother, unfortunately, he doesn’t see her as a sister. He is jealous of her interest in their arch enemy, Christopher of the Shadow Clan...more

April 24th was the release date for The Claimed, and I was the happy recipient of an early review copy. I have been following and religiously reviewing this series since its beginnings. Sins of the Flesh, Stronger than Sin and The Lost were the first three titles in this series. These are all set at the shore of New Jersey. It originally centered on the wonderful Carrera family, and now has branched out to have us meet the Hunters, both Light and Dark.

In The Lost, we learned a new species lived...more

THE CLAIMED by Caridad Pineiro is an exciting paranormal romance. Book 2 in the “Sin Hunters” series, but can be read as a stand alone. See, “The Lost”. I enjoy this author’s works, she knows how to draw in the reader with her powerful love story along with the mystery and suspense. In “The Claimed” she has pulled to enemies into a love affair for the ages with Victoria Johnson,a Light Hunter and Christopher Sombrosa, a Shadow Hunter. The two clans are mortal enemies, but Victoria draws Christopher...more

Once again Caridad entertains me page after page. I really enjoyed the main characters Victoria (Light Hunter) and Christopher (Shadow Hunter). VERY strong minded individuals from two different clans and truly the perfect ones to lead their clans in the future. Both knew their duty to their clans and knew that they must go against their parents in order to bring strength to their clans. A forbidden love much like Romeo and Juliet (yes, I know, many have compared it to them but seriously there is...more

You know that book you start reading and when you realize it's so romancy, you should dislike it, but you kind of got addicted anyway and read through the night knowing full well how it's going to end? Well, The Claimed is that book.

Caridad Pineiro's Claimed is a wonderful new addition to the paranormal romance genre with its superb writing style and predictable but addicting plotline. It's refreshing because it has vampires Hunters, violence and romance, but the two main characters don't consta...more

Ahhh! Sorry about not recording my thoughts and feelings as I read. However, in my defense I could not tear myself from this book. I did long enough to do chores and dinner.

Christopher was introduced in The Lost. We learned about him there, the tension and strife between him and his father, his want to better the life of their people.

Victoria - we learn she was the one that Adam was promised too. Not that she truly minded the breaking of that promise. Nope, no hard will there.

She and Christo...more

The first page of Caridad Piñeiro's The Claimed will claim you and won't let you go…

Victoria Johnson lives among humans, but she has a secret. She's next in line to become the leader of her clan of Light Hunters. Light Hunters take energy from nature and turn it into extraordinary powers. Victoria's biological clock is ticking, and it is time for her to choose the strongest mate from among the Light Hunters. Review: The Claimed is book 2 in the urban fantasy series Sin Hunters by Caridad Piñeiro and one that will not disappoint. Though this is the 2nd book of the series it is my first read from this author.

The Claimed has everything I like and expect in an urban fantasy/paranormal read. Love, kick-ass action, drama and awesome villains and of course steamy love making. The Claimed is a nonstop action pack story that will keep you glue...more

I read and reviewed, The Lost (Sin Hunter's #1) by Caridad Piñero and really enjoyed that book. The sequel can be read as a stand a lone, but it is better to read them in order. You get a better feel for the world if you do.

In the last book we are briefly introduced the Christopher and Victoria. Claimed is their book. We find out if Christopher's intentions for good are true and what Victoria does with her life and love life now that her former betrothed is in love with another. The story and th...more

I had a little trouble connecting at the beginning of this book. I have read The Lost, so I was familiar with how the world was set up. But it's been several months and the world-building was a little murky as I tried to get back into the series. Our characters are a species similar to human, but more. They can gather --and in some cases, distribute-- energies from each other, from humans, and from nature. There are two factions, the Light Hunters and the Dark, and they are at war. The Dark take...more

Christopher emana una po...more

Although, this is the second book in the series, this is the first book I have read by Caridad Pineiro, I missed the first book in the series. That being said, I feel like this book can be read on its own but it would be helpful to have read the first book in the series as there are events that are mentioned that refer to the first book. There are a lot of new terms are thrown out at you in the beginning with the Light Hunters and the Shadow Hunters and it can be somewhat disorienting but you ca...more

The Claimed by Caridad Pineiro is the second book in the Sin Hunters series. I have not read the first book (The Lost) but was still able to understand and follow this one. It can be read as part of a series or as a stand-alone.

This Claimed started very slowly and not very much seemed to happen at the beginning. It was readable but not terribly interesting. From the half-way point and especia

Though this is the second novel in Caridad Pineiro’s Sin Hunters series, The Claimed is the first I’ve read. In the world of werewolves, vampires, and magic fairies Pineiro’s stories are unique. The Sin Hunters is a series that centers around two classes of supernatural beings- Light Hunters and Shadow Hunters. Light Hunters feed off nature and have retained their “goodness” through time, while the Shadow Hunters feed off humans and each other. There is also a unique take...more

This is my first Caridad Pineiro book. Book 2 in the Sin Hunters series. I have been told it can be read as a stand alone. Probably possible but i felt like i missed something somewhere. This took me a really long time to read. Longer than most. Victoria and Christopher are future leaders for their clans. Their individual clans have been mortal enemies for years though. What if they could join together as a couple and mate for life? Could they bring the clans together. Could they stamp out the d...more

The Claimed has it all as far as I'm concerned. It isn't a cookie cutter paranormal romance where our hero meets the heroine, realizes they are mates and proceeds to chase and seduce her. Instead, we have two people who appear to be on opposite sides of a complex supernatural war that keeps them from giving in to their own needs. There is political intrigue, power plays with more than just words and family on each side of the equation who think they know best. I truly enjoyed the characters in T...more

MY THOUGHTS
LOVED IT

Victoria is set to run the clan of the Light Hunters as well as mating with an perfect choice and protect humans from the Shadow Hunters. Both groups can draw power from the elements but the Shadow Hunters prey on humans and the Light Hunters to gather their strength. Her clan seeks to keep the Shadow Hunters in check. Christopher is of the Shadow clan and he a few of his companions have discovered the ways of the Light Hunters by feeding on the elements instead of others and...more

First off I want to say I didn't read the first book in the series, The Lost. I jumped in headfirst and started with The Claimed which is book two in the Sin Eaters series. Looking back I should have started from the first one. While the author writes an interesting story, without reading each book in order you are left feeling detached and confused. I think that if the author explained previous events a little better that it would be less confusing.

I spent a lot of time contemplating this revie...more

I have to start by saying I think this is a series you need to read in order. I made the mistake of picking up book 2 and reading it first. I will tell you I was a little, okay fine totally confused about the world that Caridad create. Not that the world itself is confusing. I just have a feeling so much happened in book one that I would highly recommend you read The Lost first. Okay with that being said now for my review.

I had a hard time getting into this book but once I got about a third of the way in I couldn’t put it down. I’m not sure why it was so slow for me at the start as I know this series and really enjoy it. I do recommend it and look forward to the next installment.

Victoria is a light hunter. Christopher is a shadow hunter. The two should be mortal enemies. But Christopher is trying to take his people back to a time when the light and dark weren’t so far apart. Victoria is drawn to him despite her p...more

Amazing.
I ate this story up! It was such a refreshing read. The storyline is so unique and each page just kept me so into the story I never wanted to put it down.

LOVED the conflicts Caridad threw at the hero and heroine. The sense of honor and loyalty---and love--was so intense I found myself reading faster and faster to find out what happened next.

Christopher is one of my favorite types of heroes. Strong and sensitive, dedicated to his values. Strong, but not arrogant. I just loved Christoph...more

The second installment from the Sin Hunter series by Caridad Pineiro, “The Claimed” is sizzling and action packed! The story continues where we left off in “The Lost” and we get to know more of the Shadow and Light Hunters. I really enjoyed how the author didn’t retell the first book within the second, as it occurs in some series. However, enough information is shared that in the event that the reader hadn’t read the first installment, they wouldn’t be lost. This can be read as a standalone book...more

New York Times and USA Today bestselling paranormal and romantic suspense author Caridad Pineiro wrote her first novel in the fifth grade when her teacher assigned a project – to write a book for a class lending library. Bitten by the writing bug, Caridad continued with her passion for the written word through high school, college and law school. In 1999, Caridad’s first novel was released and ove...more
